Five figures stood around the empty area. Three men and two women.

Their leader, for there was no question to his identity, spoke.

"These people don't deserve our mercy. We've all seen how they are. Petty, greedy, self-absorbed. They care nothing for their fellow kind. Only their singular success. Their fates were sealed long before we came."

"You're wrong, Draydeon." replied one of the women. "They are not all that way. I've seen them. They show promise, they deserve their chance. If we bring our people to this world, it's the end of them."

The man looked around at the group. "That's the way it must be. That's the way it's always been. It's us or them."

"We can find another planet, there has to be another way." she stated.

"You've been conversing with them, haven't you?" the man asked rhetorically, before continuing. "This is why we do nothing but watch. We find their strengths and weaknesses. We limit their resistance. We are the vanguard of our people's salvation through this planet's destruction. This is inevitable. This is why we don't get involved with them. I once felt the same as you. Trust me when I say, in the end, your attachment to them will only be hard on you, Anlea."

(Some time later...Above Millennium City)

They met in the same place they have met for the past week.

"I knew I would find you here" said the woman.

"I was waiting for you...come with me" he replied.

They flew out into lower orbit of earth's atmosphere.

"This is one of my favorite places" he stated.

"It's quiet" she commented.

"It's peaceful. It's away from it all...away from everything happening down there" he continued

"You come up here a lot?" she asked.

"When I want to clear my mind and think about things" he answered.

They embraced each other as they gazed down at the world below.

She broke the silence. "We should leave this place. You and me, we could go anywhere. Anywhere in the universe"

"That would be nice" he calmly replied.

"We could start a new life together...away from it all, just like you said" she continued.

"You're serious?" he asked.

"Ever since I met you, we've had this strong connection. Do you not feel the same?" she retorted.

"I do, but what you're asking..." he stopped mid-sentence before continuing "There is another reason I come up here" gesturing towards the planet below. "You see how fragile and small the planet truly is in the universe. I need to help protect it. They need my help. I could never abandon earth"

"I just...I just don't want to lose you" she replied.

Vitality looked at her. "Anlea, I'm right here...you will never lose me"
