Background

Real name Christopher Donnie Blake, Chris while he didn't have a rough childhood and while he did grow up with a loving mother and father he was always surrounded in peace and tranquility everyday. Chris was a devout christian as well attending church every Sunday and Wednesday night and all he wished for was that the beloved 'Man Upstairs' do everything in his power to provoke peace and prosper across his very earth and land and rid it of all of it's crimes and corruption and also wish for the disappearance of "Metahumans" and leave all the crime stopping to 'The Man' and the police. But as most origins should go, Chris' life was forever turned upside down when the unexpected happened.

Christoper on one Wednesday night was returning home from a nightly service at his local church and a mysterious figure cloaked in the shadows of street light pulled a gun and fired what seemed to be a magnetic disk which attached itself to the underside of Chris' car and exploded causing his car to skid past the man in the shadows. For the first time in his life Chris felt fear, he felt as he his heart paced every time the figure to a step closer towards his car and all Chris could do was pray and just hope a miracle could happen and save him from this living nightmare. Then it came true as passing police units that heard the explosion were heading towards the location of where Chris' car laying and the figure took off into the night never to be seen again. The police showed up and rescued Chris and took him to a local hospital where he sat in recovery for three weeks with a light concussion and several stitches.

When Chris was finally released from the hospital he had an epiphany on how he nearly died that night and how if it wasn't for the police or the omnipotent 'Man Upstairs" he would've been a goner. Chris realized how peace will never be reached in this society if masked individuals can just come out of nowhere and attack civilians at random for no apparent reason at all, all he could remember that night was how he feared the Shadows, a black abyss in which you can't see into but can see out of. Chris knew that he had to utilize the Shadows into a powerful weapon in which he himself can use it to his advantage. Over the next five years Chris trained in multiple forms of martial arts, eskrima, stick fighting, and sword fighting while also training in meditation, astral projection, Chakra realigning, and Chi manipulation. Chris would use all these fantastic abilities to become what he feared that very night when he was almost killed, he would become a shining light of darkness we would be The Shroud of Protection.

After completing some of his training Chris would get a day job as a yoga instructor who thought of nothing but the peace and tranquility the both the world and its people needed, but by night Chris would be taking matters into his own hands by becoming a vigilante that newspapers only referred to him as The Shadow. The Shadow was one vigilante that the scum of Millennium City had to fear as he brutally beat his enemies to bloody pulps and left them bound to something so the police can get them for easy pick-up. The Shadow had also truly lived up to his expectations as his media given namesake made him a tough person to fight he commonly attacked at random or again as his name suggests, from the shadows usually dragging people into them to shield himself from other's point of view.

It was until the Shadow moved on to fighting local crime bosses that earned the new name of The Insider for how he commonly foiled their plans from the inside-out. This included spying on them disguised as just a lackey henchman or how he a whole "map" of how a certain crime boss' plan was supposed to go down in order. The people of Westside began to fear The Insider as he got smarter every step of the way and his name was spreading like wildfire throughout the vigilante community.

It wasn't until he tackled Frank Zaretti's son, Frank Zaretti Jr. that he finally gained enough reputation to be one that common crooks and thugs had to fear everytime they left their hiding holes to commit yet another crime in his city. Frank Zaretti Jr. has far more respect in the crime world as compared to his dad who only associated himself with the Cobra Lords and by defeating him and putting him behind bars truly let people know that the only thing to fear is not fear itself, but The Insider. The Shroud of Protection who stands up for those who can protect themselves.

Powers

  • Psychometry: Insider obtains historical memories or sensations concerning beings and objects he can observe by his senses. With objects he gains the knowledge including the makers, users, and even those who have on passing used the object, and what has been done with it. With living beings or parts of the body Insider learns their general life-history, but doesn't gain anything of what they were thinking or feeling.

  • Photographic Reflexes: The Insider was given an amazing power known as, Photographic Reflexes. This power allows him to mimic anyone's acrobatic style or move list after seeing it just once but the abilities are known to have a one hour time limit before he loses the move list.

  • Photographic Muscle Memory: Beside his photographic reflexes, he possessed photographic muscle memory that allows him to instinctively, instantly, and completely learn and acquire new skills and abilities. While not having any superhuman physical, mental, or energy manipulative abilities, the Insider is able to routinely battle super-human powered foes with an impressive degree of success.

Equipment

  • Battle Armor: Insider's suit is composed of a plethora of different fibers. The suit consists of Kevlar and Nomex padding, Dragon Skin nano-weaving, and lastly some Flexium with all of this laced into one suit Insider (while in the suit) is resistant to most things, and these include bullets, fire, knives, glass, laser shots, and most explosions. While the armor has some weight to it, it is still very flexible and maintains enough of said flexibility for Insider to still perform parkour-ish stunts over Millennium City's rooftops.

  • Dual Nunchakus: He currently wields a dual pair of metallic nunchakus designed by Wayland Talos that can discharge repulsor force with the effect of a Taser when colliding against or person or object when swung with enough force.

Abilities

  • Master Martial Artist: Christopher has been training in martial arts for quite some time now. He trained with how he describes "the best of the best" and has excelled through the ranks fairly quickly, especially in the art of eskrima and stick fighting and even some partial training in sword fighting and hand-to-hand combat. Insider also tends to perform a range of mixed martial arts when hes not fighting using his nunchacu.

  • Nervous System Control: Christopher can control his nervous system enabling him to deaden his body to physical pain, resist the effects of drugs or poisons, limit the spread of toxins in his blood stream, and even slow down his bleeding rate.

  • Pressure Point Location: He can locate different pressure points on a person's body; incapacitate, paralyze, severely injure, or kill a person

  • Peak Physical Conditioning: Christopher has intensively trained his body to possess the highest level of strength, speed, stamina and endurance that a human can have without artificial enhancements. His notable include the speed and stamina to endure even the most rigorous physical training exercises, reacting fast enough to dodge gunfire and even catch weapons hurled by enemies at him and throw them right back at them.

  • Skilled Gymnast: He has been shown to be very well versed in gymnastics

  • Skilled Stick Fighter: Taught by his mentor. Chris is highly skilled in using both a pair of sticks or a single staff in combat.
