The first minotaur, Asterion's supernatural strength, Hellforged golden axe, and bloodthirsty tendencies make him a fearsome creature to behold. Though his mission of demon hunting is considered a good one, his violent methods have kept him out of any organized superhero group.

Powers

Already a powerful combatant and dangerous enemy before he was slain, his time spent in Hell honed him into a keen hunter with a hatred for demons. His golden axe was forged in Hell by an infernal blacksmith, designed to kill Asterion himself. He took the axe from his assassin and now uses it as his own.

List of Powers

  • Superstrength
  • Hellforged axe
    1. Though it appears to be made of gold, the axe is invulnerable to everything but other infernal weapons
    2. Still connected to Hell, its strikes can create rivers of lava or bursts of flame
  • Supernatural speed and jump strength
  • Can contact the ancient Greek gods

Origin Story

The Greek gods' tangling with Asterion's origins had repercussions that would last millenia.

First Life and Resurrection

Though not the only of his kind, Asterion was the first, known in mythos as "The Minotaur," the son of a cursed human and a bull. Raised in secret before being imprisoned in a labyrinth beneath his mother's palace for 21 years, Asterion was killed before he could ever escape.

Damned for his rage and bloodlust, he wandered Hell for two and a half thousand years before a Qliphothic insurrection freed 100 mortal souls and 200 demons, Asterion among them. The mortals, Qliphoth, and demons battled each other, with few survivors. Asterion refused to escape during the midst of the fight, and he and the five others who survived came to an agreement to let each other go until they next met.

Second Life

Finding himself in an alien future from the Greece he once knew, he wandered all of Europe in shadows, and sightings of him sparked urban legends. Cryptid fanciers tracked him for nearly a year before a villain known as Caldera opened a portal to Hell in the middle of the Roman coliseum.

Asterion fought Caldera nearly to the death, but she escaped before Asterion could land his final strike. Now known to the world as a mighty man-beast, he became a demon hunter, driven by mad hatred.
