| − | Axus originally lived during the time period of the ancient Roman Republic and served in its army during the rule of Julius Caesar. Caesar took an interest into Axus' brutality and overall combat dominance on the battlefield, promoting him to the rank of Legate. Though, Axus never took part in any major battles recorded in history, he instead commanded a series of wars behind the scenes described simply as the "Secret Wars." This separate campaign of wars were some of the main causes of how the Roman Republic won the wars it did. Every battle Axus won would grant the Republic some form of leverage over the enemy, usually being battle tactics information and supply line areas. As time rolled on, Axus continued to win wars and help establish the might of the republic, but Caesar began question Axus' loyalty toward him, leading him to believe that Axus was the murderer that the fortune teller warned him of[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julius_Caesar_(play)]. Caesars curiosity of Axus' loyalty was then learned by the politician Brutus who, at the time, was really the one conspiring to murder Caesar before his rule would spin out of control. For Brutus, this opened a window of opportunity. As Caesar left for Egypt, Brutus wrote a fake letter that contained plans to murder Caesar, containing Axus' name, and gave it to Caesar upon his return. Outraged, Caesar Ordered that Axus was to be brought to him at once. When Axus arrived, still unknowing of what had happened, was ambushed by legion members and captured. Instead of Caesar outright killing Axus right away, he instead planned for his death to be a slow and painful one. Caesar ordered his men to brutally whip and beat him then leave him die slowly from blood loss in a prison cell, if he lived. Unfortunately, being the abnormally enduring, he managed to survive the torture. While lying in his cell, a strange meteorite flew through the window crack in his cell, passing through his skull, and lodging itself in his head. The meteorite soon began to petrify Axus. When the guards went to check to see if Axus was still alive, they found him in his petrified state. The guards then reported the information to Caesar who simply told them to have to discarded in the countryside. Years past, and the petrified Axus is now buried under years of weathering and erosion of the land. He remained there, forgotten to the world above, until a team of Harmon Labs researchers picked up his thermal readings while in the area. They returned to headquarters with Axus and spend countless hours trying to figure out how to unpetrify him. Eventually, they succeeded and awoke him. Thought Axus survived, a side effect of the meteorite left him unable to use his left appendages and see from his left eye. This lead the researchers to put Axus in their cybernetics program. The program gave him a multitude of enhancements to counteract most of the side effects of the Strength Force. Now Axus fights alongside the Champions, ready to fight against whatever threatens his new home.
