The Gods

This world is not where Zarek was born. It is, infact, one of the thousands of Worlds Zarek has visited and stayed. In Zarek's world, his home world, his home Dimension, things where much, much different. In Zarek's world, there were five gods. Their names have all been forgotten, save for one. Leas, the god of the Air, Sea, and Sun. Leas was the most powerful god, but he was not always.

Before, there used to be thousands of Gods. Each God governed one thing. A God of the grass, a God of rain, a God of ants, a God of trees.. A God of Chaos. And a God of Harmony. Chaos grew tired of Harmony and how she ruled the other Gods, she ruled and the gods loved her, obeyed her. So Chaos began a plot to destroy her, and any Gods that did not turn to him as their new ruler. It took him several thousand years before his secret army was ready, but eventually... he attacked.

The Gods were split in half. Chaos found himself with a larger army than Harmony, and he was sure of his victory. The war tore about the earth below and caused many to die. While Gods battled in Heaven, Demi-Gods battled on earth. One particular Demi-God was stronger than the others, and he quickly proved himself to be a valuable asset to Harmony. This Demi-God was named Draven, and he was the son of Leas, who at the time, was only the God of the Sun.

Draven battled the forces of Chaos on earth, and with an army of other Demi-Gods fighting for Harmony, drove them into the Underworld. Afterwards, Draven found himself in Heaven, battling Gods along side of Harmony herself. Hundreds of Gods perished in this war, destroyed by their own brothers. And sometimes even by their own sons and daughters.

Eventually this war came down to Harmony and Chaos, fighting alone. Harmony was weaker than Chaos, and was sure to lose. And if Chaos destroyed her, she knew the fate of the other Gods, and the world below. So Harmony did the unthinkable. Sacrificing herself, she sealed Chaos away in an Alternate dimension, locking it away with all of her power and the power of Gods felled by his hands.

This left Heaven in, well, chaos. The last of the Gods fought amongst themselves, setting the Demi-Gods who once fought along side each other, against their friends. Leas and his son Draven decided to take action. Draven gave his power to his father, and his form was absorbed into his parent. Leas was given new power, and with this power... he stopped the fighting. He brought order back to chaos- Harmony in Heaven.

Five Gods remained. Three Demi-Gods survived. Leas received the powers of the Air, and the Sea. The long road of recovery lay ahead, and Leas was determined to see it through...

The Brothers Two

The world had been healed, the Five Gods ruled Heaven without any more quarrels and wars. The world below had forgotten that there had ever been a war in Heaven, and Demi-Gods began to repopulate Heaven and Earth. Minor Gods had been created to help govern the world, and they too sired Demi-Gods. Overall, it seemed life had began to return to Heaven.

Then there came a prophecy. The God who ruled over two kingdoms, and the light which birthed them, would sire twin Demi-Gods. One would become a savior, and one would become a Destroyer. This alone nearly sparked another fight, only this time Leas was alone. Somehow Leas was able to calm his fellow Gods, and the prophecy was forgotten.

As King of Heaven, Leas, unlike the other Gods and Minor-Gods, never had time to charm mortals, and sire children. After Draven had given himself for Leas, he never had the desire too. However the years had weighed on him and he began to feel the pain of loneliness. So when he was not busy governing Heaven and Earth, he took a human form and lived amongst the mortals.

Leas found a woman. A woman he came to adore with his entire being. A woman, he soon found himself thinking, that he would give his life to. Her name was Angela, and to him, she was more beautiful than any angel. The two became very close, and Leas could not lie about who he was any more. He revealed to her he was a God, and he offered her a choice. Join him in Heaven, and become immortal. Bear his child, and become the queen of the Heavenly Hosts.

To his surprise she accepted. She loved him as much as he loved her, and she did care about his lie. Soon afterwards, she gave birth. But this was not a normal birth, because Demi-Gods where never born in pairs. It was, as all Gods thought, impossible. Damien and Tristian came into Heaven, and the births where announced throughout all Heaven and Earth.

A Demi-Dilemma

Zarekheromachine.jpg

Demi-Gods where raised as Messengers and Warriors. They where trained in swordsmanship, and magic. No mortal could ever hold their own in a battle against a Demi-God, and Demons fled at the sight of their magic. Damien and Tristian showed much promise, and soon outshown all of the other Demi-Gods. Alone, the brothers where nearly unbeatable. But together there was no stopping them.

After the brothers reached age twenty, their training was complete. They mostly spent their time sending messages back and forth between Heaven and Earth, sometimes even having to venture into the Underworld to make sure the damned souls stayed where they were. (The God of the Underworld wasn't exactly a God, more of a powerful Demon with Alpha status. The ruler changed every five or so years...)

But inbetween work, the two could be found training, or just enjoying themselves around Earth or in the gardens of Heaven. But their favorite time of the day was visiting their mother and father in the palace of Heaven. Each time they visited, they always learned new things. They learned about the war that plagued Heaven, and left all but five of the Gods alive. They learned about their brother they never met, and mourned his loss for their father. They learned about about their parents met, and what their mother used to do as a mortal.

Years passed, and the routine's stayed the same. Each day as the brothers grew older, the Gods began to remember the Prophecy, and even Leas began to worry. He feared the Gods would soon lash out and tell the brothers, or worse, destroy them so it would never come to pass.

And as the brothers reached a thousand years of life, no one could ignore it any longer. For another puzzle piece was put on the table, spelling out what would happen if the Prophecy came to pass. No God knew exactly how it came to be known, perhaps Chaos had somehow slipped a message through the wards that kept him locked in his cage, or perhaps there was a small piece of Harmony still out there that tried to warn them. Whatever it was, it was clear. The brothers could not be killed by a God. They would have to kill each other.

This started the gears turning, Leas and Angela couldn't ignore it anymore. Damien was destined to be a Destroyer, the new Prophecy made it clear. Tristian was to become the Savior, but he would have to kill his own brother to do it. And Damien would become a monster. Leas wouldn't let it happen, but in order to avert this, he would have to ask something of Tristian. Something he wished never to have to ask of a son.

Tristian was confronted by his father. He was told that Damien would would kill the gods, and destroy the world. He was told it would not stop there, that many more worlds and Gods would follow, unless Tristian did something about it. The Gods knew they where doomed, but if they could prevent it from happening to other worlds, they would.

Tristian would convince his brother to go against the will of heaven. They would be banished, and sent to another world. There, Tristian would make it clear to his brother that he wanted revenge. He wanted power. And he would seek it in the God Chaos, from his own world.

Zarek

After the banishment, Damien tried to live a normal life as a mortal. He changed his name to Zarek Alexander, and took up work as a blacksmith. He was given the body of a 18 year old, young and fit, so the work was no challenge for him. As he lived out his life, two years had passed, and he had met a woman, Sarah Nightwood. A drow, to be more specific. She wasn't like the other Drow. Infact she was nice, and instead of hating humans, she was curious about them. She wanted to learn about them.

When she found Zarek, and Zarek found her, it was almost like love at first sight. If love at first sight was more akin to loathing at first sight. But Zarek was the only Blacksmith in the town, and Sarah had to go to him for any metal work needed. Eventually though, the two got passed their hatred for each other, and they began socializing.

It wasn't long before they fell in love. And it took even less time for them to marry. Instead of Sarah taking his last name, which was a name that held no meaning to him, Zarek took her last name. He became known as Zarek Nightwood. When he took the last name of a Drow, he noticed a few... changes... in himself. His ears had slight points to them. He could see in the dark, and his reflexes and strength had increased slightly. While it made no difference to him, other than it allowing him to hunt better, and work in the forges for longer, it did draw the attention of many people.

For the most part, though, no one minded. He lived his life with Sarah in the outskirts of the town. He farmed, hunted, chopped firewood, and worked in the forges. Sarah kept the house clean, cooked, kept the fire going in the winter, made errands in town for any food that Zarek couldn't hunt or grow, sometimes even sold food they had too much of. Over all, it was a good life, and Zarek had forgotten about his time as a Demi-God.

Tristian

Tristian had been sent to the same Dimension as Zarek, but he had no intention of settling down. He remembered what he had to do, and why he had to do it. Even if it ment sacrificing his very soul, he would do it. For his brother. Unlike Zarek, Tristian kept his old body, and all of its powers. So the first thing he did was seek out the dimension Chaos was held it.

It wasn't hard to find. It was the only dimension out there with the protection of a thousand Gods on it, that radiated so much evil that it could corrupt a puppy. Tristian broke the wards on it and summoned Chaos.

"I have freed you!" Tristian shouted. "I wish to become your student! Teach me how to wield the power of Darkness and Chaos, and together we can destroy the God's!"

Chaos was amused. But he was thoughtful. He could feel the power from Tristian. He knew the damage he could do with someone like that. And so Chaos began to teach Tristian. At times, it was rough. Tristian thought he was near death many times, and much to even Chaos' surprise, he never did fall to death. Tristian was soon imbued with power beyond anything he thought possible. It was almost corrupting... but he never did sway from his original goal.

During his training, while shielded from Chaos' gaze, Leas contacted Tristian. Another Prophecy was made, after the original was averted. If Zarek was to ever birth a child, on its ninth birthday, all the powers of Zarek would be instantly given to the child. This power would be too much for the childs mind to bear, and it would break. His child would become the next Destroyer... And this child would be stronger than anything the Gods had ever seen.

Tristian returned to the dimension his brother was in after his training, and gathered a small army. He destroyed the a leader of a clan of Vampires, created Demons from the shadows, and managed to force an Alpha werewolf to do his bidding. He didn't want to do what he was about to do. The general of his army was a Demon he had specifically created. Leonardo D'Angelo.

During the night, Leo lead a group of Vampires to Zarek's house, where Zarek and his wife had been living comfortably for the past two years. Zarek's wife was pregnant, and expecting within the next two months. Leo ordered the vampires to attack, knowing that Zarek was out gathering firewood. The vampires broke into the house... and killed Sarah.

Zarek

When Zarek returned, he found the Vampires draining Sarah's blood. He acted without hesitation, and without thought. He picked up the closest weapon he could find, which was a gardening hoe, and attacked the vampires. They where, however, too strong for him. He was left near death with a gash on the right side of his face. He was sure death was coming for him, and because his wife and unborn child were dead too... he welcomed it.

But when he woke up in his bed, a bandage over his eye and the smaller wounds healed on his torso, he felt like all the life had been drained out of him... and not just because he had been food for a group of Bandit Vampires. There was a man in the room who stoked the fire. The breast plate of a piece of armor lay in the corner of the room, next to Sarah's bed, where she had been laying when she was killed. The covers where placed over her, and the body was not able to be seen.

The man himself wore a simply brown tunic, with chainmail leggings and leather cuffed boots. When he heard Zarek shift, he turned and smiled with sympathy. "My name's Leonardo D'Angelo. I'm a Vampire Hunter."

He walked towards Zarek and gently laid a hand on his shoulder, pushing him back onto the bed. "I'm sorry for your loss." Leo said. "But please. Rest."

And Zarek did. The next few nights where brutal on him, some of his wounds had become infected and he grew a fever. Despite his sickness, he still convinced Leo to help him bury Sarah. After their makeshift funeral, Zarek had nearly collapsed and died. But Leo nursed him back to health, slowly but surely. And after Zarek was healed, even the gash on his right eye had healed (though it left a scar, still seen today), he was ready for revenge.

Leo didn't even have to goad him. Zarek wanted to be trained to hunt Vampires. He wanted to kill every vampire he crossed. He wanted them all to die, and suffer more pain than he was in now. So Leo trained him. Five years of training, and Zarek was hunting along side of Leo. He knew Leo had killed the vampires that attacked, but he also knew that there was an entire nest that those came from, and he wanted to find them.

Little did he know... The Vampires Zarek was helping Leo dispatch where not evil. They where simply trying to survive, and had never taken a human life. But they where also Vampires who where resisting Tristian. And if they managed to expose Tristian, when he wasn't ready, everything would crumble.

Tristian

While Leo trained Zarek, Tristian had been visiting other Dimensions. He knew he needed more power to keep Zarek from becoming the Destroyer, or to keep his child from becoming one. But he couldn't bring himself to destroy a Dimension, or the Gods in it. That is, until he found a Dimension so corrupt and evil, that it made Chaos seem more like Harmony.

The people in this world where nearly all dead, only a handful of survivors where left and they had formed a resistance to the Gods. The Gods in this dimension where evil, and had been determined to wipe out humanity. They didn't expect the mortals to fight back however, nor did they expect them to learn Magic.

In all, there had to be hundreds of Gods in this heaven, but the God who ruled over them all had made the mistake of tying his very essence to the dimension he was in, giving him power beyond imagining. Tristian didn't know what to do at first, and he made the mistake of confronting the Gods alone. He fought against the army of the corrupt Heaven. Its angel's looked more like Demons, and infact they made the Demons look more tame.

He was able to survive for a battle or two, but eventually Tristian was beaten. He was thrown from Heaven and fell like a comet into the earth. There he was found by a resistance member by the name of Diana Gray. She took him back to a resistance base, and nursed him back to health. During the time he was with the Resistance he came to be friends with many of them but he became very close with Diana.

He learned that the Gods hadn't always been evil, but around five years ago something had happened in Heaven. A God from another world visited, and when he left everything changed. Heaven began attacking Earth, and made a pact with Hell. (Which was soon broken after the Gods took over Hell.) This was all a shock to Tristian, because this had happened around the time he had set Chaos free. If this was really his fault, then he would have to set it right. He would have to somehow free this world from the tyranny of the Gods.

So he fought along side of the Resistance, never telling them why he had really came. He only told Diana he was a Demi-God from another World, passing through. But after seeing the shape of the world, he decided to help. He could never tell them his real mission. That he was the one, who most likely, destroyed their world.

Battles where fought, friends where lost. At times it seemed all hope was gone, but Diana kept them all together. It hadn't even been a year, but with Tristian's help Diana and the others felt it was time for a direct assault on heaven. And with Tristian's help they were able to reach Heaven and attack. The battle lasted for days with the Resistance being trapped between the armies of Heaven on one side, and the armies of Hell on the other.

Tristian himself had defeated some of the Minor Gods, and absorbed their power without realizing it. And eventually the tide of the war began to change. It looked as if the Resistance was about to win. They had hope, and this hope drove the mortals to fight harder and faster. It came to a point where even a few of the Gods had been afraid to fight.

But the King wasn't. He was, infact, tired of seeing his forces lose. So he attacked with his full force. He attacked Tristian. The two of them fought, and thanks to the powers of the Minor Gods Tristian was able to put up a fight. Diana saw Tristian fighting, and without thinking, rushed to help him. It was with her help that Tristian struck the final blow to the God.

With the King dead, the other Gods fled. The army of Heaven and Hell had been destroyed, leaving only fragments left. But the same was said for the Resistance. Only a handful remained. And they were the only Humans left, in Heaven and Earth. Tristian knew that he needed to absorb the power of the King God, but he knew as soon as he did the Dimension would be destroyed.

He couldn't damn Diana, and the others. He couldn't help them, and then destroy them. It was then that he formed a plan. He would take them with him. He would explain, and hopefully, they would understand. This world was doomed anyway, right? With the rest of the Gods fleeing the Dimension, it would slowly wither and die anyways. So he explained to the last of the mortals, and Diana. He explained what he was doing and why.

He also explained that he might've been the cause of all this. The last of the Resistance looked unsure about all of this, but one thing was clear. They wouldn't leave. If this world was to die, they were to die with it. Tristian turned to Diana. He had spent so much time with her and had so many feelings for her.

She was torn. How could she leave her friends? But how could she leave Tristian. The same feelings he felt for her, she felt for him. Eventually she caved in, and agreed to go with Tristian. And after making sure the others didn't want to follow, and the long good-bye's... Tristian opened a portal to a new Dimension. Diana went through it as Tristian began absorbing the power of the fallen King God.

And as the Dimension began to collapse on itself, he followed Diana.

Zarek

After finding a Vampire Nest in the woods of Transylvania and clearing it out, Zarek and Leo decided to pamper themselves, and instead of making camp in the woods... they went into town to rest in the Inn. It had been years since Zarek's first wife, and the only reminder of her he had was the scar given to him by the Vampires that had killed her.

He relived that night every time he slept, walking in and seeing her motionless dead body on the bed, covered in blood. And the vampires that had killed her, the look of pure excitement on their faces. And every night, he woke up the same way. Drenched in cold sweat, pulling his knife out as he threw himself up. The only difference about this night was, he wasn't alone.

A man stood in his room. Because of the shadows, the only thing Zarek could see of the man was his face, and just the shape of his body. He was tall with slicked back, black hair. His red eyes glowed dimly, and his pale skin reflected the light of the moon. This man was like any other Vampire Zarek had ever seen. He commanded power and respect, just by standing in the room. He he moved faster than Zarek could see.

Before he had time to react, the vampire had Zarek pinned to the wall by his neck, lifted a foot off of the floor. The vampire gave a bestial snarl, and exposed his fangs to Zarek. "Do you know... who I am?"

The vampire spoke with a heavy Transylvanian accent, and each word he spoke felt like a ton of bricks to Zarek. And instantly, he knew. "Vlad Tepes."

The Vampire smiled. He looked like he was about to bite Zarek's head off, but instead he left Zarek fall to the floor, and he backed up. Zarek stumbled to his feet and reached for his sword, (Which he always kept at the side of his bed) only to find it gone. Instead, it was in Vlad's hands.

"I know who you are, Demi-God." Vlad examined the sword in his hands before stabbing it into the floor.

This took Zarek by surprise. "How?"

Vlad laughed. A genuine laugh, as if Zarek had just told a funny joke. But he noticed Zarek's confusion. "You reek of Heaven." Vlad spat out, then examined Zarek with curiously. "You don't know."

Zarek was tempted to call for Leo, but the look on Vlad's face made Zarek think twice. Not because he was intimidated, but because it looked as if Vlad was concerned. "Know what?"

"You are being used, Demi-God." Vlad's head tilted. "That Hunter you travel with is a Demon. He has been using you to further his own cause, whatever it may be."

"Why are you telling me this? And... why should I believe you?"

Vlad's expression turned to an annoyed one. "Believe me or not, I do not care. But my race is dying because of you Hunters." Vlad smirked. "If I can turn you against your own kind, it's better for me. That it is the truth just makes it... Easier." Vlad tossed something to Zarek, which he caught. "Wear this. Next time he stands next to you, you will see."

And without warning, Vlad exploded into a cloud of... Bats. They squeaked and squealed before flying out of the window and into the night. Zarek looked at the thing that was tossed to him, and realized it was a necklace. He eyed it, noting it was a cross. But what was truly strange was the tiny symbols etched in it. He couldn't read out what they were, but he put the necklace into his pocket.

The next morning, there was a knock at his door and Leo walked in. Zarek was just putting his leather tunic on, and sheathing his sword into its sheath. He turned to Leo, forgetting about the necklace in his pocket. The face that stared back at him was not human. It was twisted and charred, with ash falling off of it. Zarek jumped backwards and drew his sword with a yell.

Leo stumbled back in surprise at the yell. "What the hell?"

"Demon! Foul creature!" Zarek pointed his sword at Leo. He couldn't easily read Leo's face... but he knew that he just caught the Demon off guard. He knew, that Leo knew, his ruse had just fallen.

Leo unsheathed his sword, but this time it was no regular sword. It was jagged, and rusty. But despite its rust, it looked sharp. "You see my true form." Leo sounded amused. His voice was echoed by a deeper one, one that sounded more monstrous than a human could make. "Guess I'll just have to kill you."

Luckily, the Inn was nearly empty. Hardly anyone had checked in for the night, and the only people inside the building happened to be the owner, another guest, and Zarek and Leo. The fight began upstairs, with Zarek attacking first. He backed the demon into the hall, but was soon on the defensive himself. He was pushed down the stairs and into the reception area, where the owner and the other costumer had been talking. When the fight spilled into the room the owner let a shill scream lose and ran outside.

The other guest drew arms. They too could see Leo's real form. "What ho!" The guest raised his sword and joined Zarek in the battle.

The two soon found out how hard it was to actually kill a Demon, as the battle spilled out into the open. Zarek had nearly gotten his head lopped off several times, if it hadn't been for the Guest. And it wasn't long again before adventurer's and guards outside leaped to their aid.

Eventually the Demon was pinned down, but no one knew how to kill it. Leo trashed in the arms of over six people, a mixture of Hunters, town Guards, and random adventurers. Then Zarek remembered the necklace he was given. When he pulled it out of his pocket, Leo had a serious reaction to it. He howled out and thrashed even more, yelling in a demonic language.

Now, no one understood it, of course, but it didn't take a Demonologist to understand he was cursing. Zarek put the necklace around the Demon's neck, and almost instantly he stopped moving. And in the arms of the six fighters, the demon turned to ash, leaving nothing but the necklace.

The town was grateful to Zarek. They saw him as a savior, after that fight. Infact the Inn's owner insisted that Zarek stay another night, free of charge. People gave him gifts, and food. Zarek couldn't refuse it all. Frankly he didn't want to. So he decided to stay another night, being treated like a king. During the next night Zarek was laying in his room, ready for sleep, when a knock came at his door. He sat up in the bed and said, "Come in.".

To his surprise, the Guest came in. He hadn't noticed it before but the Guest was dressed in a white robe. His hair was shoulder length, and white. He smiled at Zarek and closed the door behind him. "How did you know that would work?" He asked, without giving any formalities.

Zarek threw his feet off the bed to face the Guest. "I didn't." He shrugged. "I just..." He hesitated, about to tell the Guest about Vlad and how he received the necklace.

The Guest examined Zarek as if thinking something over. "You do not know what I am, do you?"

Zarek blinked.

It was enough of an answer for the Guest. "My name is Lucius Silver." He bowed. "I am an Angel of Heaven."

Zarek stood, reaching for his sword. "And I'm a Demi-God from another world, yeah." He said sarcastically.

"Yes. You are." Lucius smiled. "We've been watching you for a while. We did not know about you until you started... hunting." Lucius watched Zarek's reaction, and continued. "We did not know your companion was a Demon. Something was hiding his true form, even from us. Until... You found that Necklace. Do you know what it is?"

Zarek shook his head no.

"It belongs to Vlad Tepes. As you might know him, being a Hunter, Dracula. He has always carried it with him, so no creature could lull him into a false sense of security. It exposes true forms, as you... Have no doubt guessed."

"...What do you want? You did not just come here to tell me this." Zarek hesitantly spoke.

"This world is dying." Lucius said. "Our God knows of your existence. He knows you hold power. My brother and I are the last of the Angels of Heaven. Our father wishes us to grant you power, so you can take us away from here... before his death."

"You do not know me. Why would your God trust me with power?"

"Because we know you more than you may think."

Lucius explained to him that, in all honesty, he had no choice to deny the power. Either he could accept it, or he could die with this world. But there was one condition. Vampires may be evil, to some extent, but Zarek had been killing Vampires who wanted nothing more than to live without being hunter. But he slay them anyways. He had committed more sin than any Vampire he had come across, and he must atone for this. If he was to receive this power, he would spend the rest of his life making things right.

In Zarek's eyes, it was a Win-Win situation. He accepted the power. Lucius and Raphael Silver (who looked eerily similar, with Raphael only having Black hair) gave the power of an Angel to Zarek. Soon after... they left the Dimension.

Tristian

It was hard to find a new Dimension that had corrupted Gods like the first one. And it made it even harder, considering it took a week inbetween each Dimension jump before he could move on. He traveled with Diana, who he taught inbetween jumps. It wasn't long before she could even hold her own against Tristian. He was pleased at how fast she learned even the most complicated spells. They bonded over this time, grew close enough that Tristian knew the feelings he had for her where not feelings he could ignore for much linger.

And eventually, as it should have been expected, both of them acted on their feelings. A night of passion in a dimension that was suppose to be just a rest, before moving on to find another dimension. However, as both of them lay next to the fire Tristian had conjured up, there was a rustle in the forest off to the side. Tristian was on guard immediately, because he felt the energies of another Demi-God.

And without warning, they where attacked. A group of five Demi-Gods wielding weapons and using magic assaulted the camp. Tristian and Diana fought them off, but these Demi-Gods were stronger than they had been used to. The two of them escaped, barely. Diana ended up wounded by a stray magical bolt that had hit the back of her leg. Tristian carried her for as long as he could. Thankfully they reached what looked like major city, surrounded by a wall.

The first thing they realized about the city was all the statues. Golden statues of a man in a royal robe and crown. Tristian found an abandoned building, and warded the walls. No one, not even a God, would know they where there now. Under the protection of the wards Tristian tried healing Diana's wounds, but it was apparent that this was something her body would have to naturally heal from.

"Stay here." Tristian told her. "I'm going to scout around."

After a brief good-bye Tristian headed outside and into town. His first mistake was asking who the Golden Statue man was. The person he asked gave him a look as if he was crazy, and then yelled for the guards. Instead of fighting, Tristian had fled again. He changed clothes, and used a glamour to hide his appearance.

It was becoming abundantly clear that this world was not as good as Tristian had thought. But the deeper into the city he traveled, the more he saw that no two person was the same. The next person he had asked about the Golden Statue man was more helpful.

"That is God King Ravish." The woman told him. "He used to be known as God Mercy... however that changed around... oh, six or seven years ago. He changed his name to Ravish, and demanded that we mortals refer to him as The God King. How do you not know...?"

The woman had turned expecting to see Tristian, but he had left. Another God that was corrupted right after he released Chaos. Was this to be the fate of more Dimensions? He couldn't let it keep happening. He couldn't bear knowing that he had doomed one dimension already, and possibly this one and many others.

It was coming on the eighth year, and after speaking (and fleeing from several) to citizens of the town, he learned that every year, on the exact same day, the God King Ravish held a dinner party in the mortal realms, and only the most wealthy of mortals could attend. It was said that the God King held the party for a special guest, and this guest was someone even the God King feared. Tristian decided he was going to get his answers. He would attend the party, and find out who this guest was.

So he and Diana spent four months in the world, both of them glamoured and warded so the Gods wouldn't know. As the party drew even closer, the world around them seemed to wither and wilt. At first, Tristian thought it was just because of the changing of the seasons. But he realized soon that the seasons had nothing to do with it. The world was dying, slowly but surely, it was dying.

And then the party came. Tristian and Diana managed to sneak in as cousins of a Wealthy man they didn't actually know. Luckily the man was old enough that when they told him they where cousins, he really had no choice other than to believe them. The palace the party was held in was enormous, big enough to hold half of the city itself. And the dinner table was long enough that you couldn't see, much less hear, half of the occupants. But what you could see were the two thrones at the very end of the table. One throne was golden, and rather large. What looked like a normal man sat in it, looking irritable. The other throne was larger, but it was black and decorated with skulls. From what Tristian could tell, real human skulls.

And in that throne was a man Tristian knew all too well. He was dressed fairly simply, a black tunic and pants, black leather boots, and a black cloak that was pulled around him. The clock itself was anything but simple, however. Its very form shifted and moved, like shadows. And every so often a face could be seen trying to tear its way from the cloth, but it never could manage it. The man's face was pale, and sunken in, as if he was sick. His eyes where as black as night, no pupils, no iris'. It was Chaos.

The God King Ravish sat forward in his golden thrown. His royal closed around him, and he sighed. His voice came out loudly, and rang across the entire dinning hall. "Lords and Ladies!" He boomed. "The honorable and noble God Chaos has returned once again! He shall once more return life to our world! Unlike before, when he simply accepted our worshiping of him, he now requires a sacrifice!"

The entire room started mumbling to each other, but they where soon quieted down when the God King spoke again. "He requires to people from this room! Two people whom he has already chosen. Consider this an honor!"

Chaos stood. And much to Tristian's dismay... so did Diana. Even worse, he soon found himself struggling to stay in his seat, a battle he soon loss. Chaos pointed to the two, glaring down at God King Ravish. "Who are these two?" His voice came out in a whisper, however everyone still heard him.

"I... I do not know." The God King stuttered. He always knew everyone that attended, but not these two.

Chaos narrowed his eyes. Diana's glamour broke, and even after he put up a fight... so did Tristian's. The God King stood up, outraged. He knew them now. They where the travelers. "What!?"

Chaos smiled. "Tristian. What, may I ask, are you doing here?"

Tristian gritted his teeth. "I could ask the same of you."

Chaos shrugged. It looked rather odd to see such a movement come from a God. "I'm corrupting them. Its what I do. You, on the other hand, should be waging war against your father. Like I trained you."

"Why are you corrupting them? How many other Dimensions have you been to?" Tristian balled his fists.

And before he could stop her, Diana shouted, "You destroyed my home!" and threw a knife straight at Chaos' face.

The knife struck him inbetween the eyes, but he made no movement. Not even to pull it out. Instead he just gave an irritated grunt and lifted a hand. Diana floated off of the ground and began floating towards him. Tristian lurched forward to try and grab her but he found himself held down by three Demi-Gods who had also attended the party.

Diana struggled in mid air, but she felt like she was being held by a giant hand. She grunted and jerked about as she hovered three inches away from Chaos. The knife stuck in his face pulled itself out, dripping with a golden fluid. It turned to Diana, and Tristian began to struggle more. He knocked one Demi-God off, threw the other onto the table, and managed to pull his sword and cut the thirds head off. He jumped onto the table and raced forward, but he was still too late.

The knife pierced Diana's skull. He barely had time to catch her as she fell out of the air, landing limply in his arms. Chaos looked amused, watching Tristian weeping. Even when Tristian lashed at him with his sword, Chaos still looked amused. He simply raised a hand, keeping Tristian's sword from cutting into him. Tristian was raised into the air, and Chaos closed his hand into a fist.

The air in the room was sucked out, and everyone began choking. Even the God King. Everyone except Tristian. Chaos' amused expression was replaced by confusion. He tightened his empty fist, and people began to kneel over, dying right there on the spot. The only person, aside from Tristian, who seemed to fight it was the God King. He acted without really thinking. The God King flung himself at Chaos and tackled him onto the floor. Tristian caught himself. He saw the God King thrown to the wall, and Chaos rise. The darkness shifted and surrounded him, bending to his will. Tristian picked his sword up and lunged at Chaos. The sword drove into his back and out of his chest.

Chaos flung around, throwing Tristian in the processes. Thats when the God King acted again, imbuing the sword with a portion of his power. Chaos howled in pain and trashed about. All of the light from the room faded for a brief second, and when it returned... Chaos was gone, but the sword remained. Tristian looked to the God King and could instantly tell that the God was dying. He walked over to Ravish.

"You doom your world, and then try to save it?" Tristian was angry enough as it was, Diana was dead. Was Ravish hoping to redeem himself? It wouldn't work.

"I did what I did to save it. Not destroy it." Ravish looked up to Tristian weakly. "If he was not worshiped, he would have destroyed us outright."

"He would destroy you either way. Your world is dying, now." Tristian pointed to the table, where all the guests lay dead. "Your world will share the fate those here tonight have. And so will any other World's he's visited."

"That is why..." Ravish closed his eyes. "I will you my power."

"This doesn't absolve you."

"Who's going to punish me?" Ravish smirked. "I'm a God, after all."

Tristian thought to himself, "A Dying god." but Ravish had already began to fade away. Tristian absorbed the power of the fallen God, and turned to the table. Diana. He slowly walked to her lifeless body but he couldn't bare look at her. She had died, by Chaos' hands. And now he knew that Chaos was responsible for the corruption of her world, and this one. He knew that Chaos would have corrupted others. But just for worship? He knew Gods got their powers from how many people believed in them... but could that work through other Dimensions?

As Tristian left that Dimension, and the body of his beloved behind, the only thought that crossed his mind as the Dimension behind him crumbled was revenge.

The Dark Forest Years

Zarek

NephstatuewithZarek.jpg

The two brothers, Lucius and Raphael, and Zarek found themselves in a new Dimension. It was strangely close to the previous one, with a few differences. The thing that was most notably apparent was the lack of Hunters. In the last Dimension, the Hunters had hunted Werewolves to extinction, and Vampires were quickly on their way. Here, however, this Transylvania was plagued with Vampires and other Supernatural creatures. And these where not nice ones.

Seeing no better place to start repenting for his wrong doings Zarek decided to make a life here. While Lucius and Raphael went to this worlds Heaven to try and find their places, Zarek started hunting again. This time however he was careful to choose his targets, never slaying anything that didn't deserve to be slain. On one of these hunts he began following a young female vampire. He had been watching her for a while, never able to piece together if she was a threat to humanity.

One day while he followed her, the vampire was set upon by a group of wandering men. At first Zarek thought they where bandits but he could see a marking on their cloaks. It was a cross, and their swords had runes scribed into them. Three of the men had their swords drawn and were circling the vampire. The other man was hanging back. Infact, he looked hesitant. Zarek moved closer to hear.

The man who was hanging back was dressed differently than the others. While the other three had plain brown cloaks, and leather tunics, he wore a red cloak. His tunic and leggings were black leather. The neck of his cloak covered much of his face, like it was a mask, and the hood of his cloak often times made his face hard to see. But he was talking to the other three men.

"Leave her be. She hasn't done anything." He said tensely.

One of the other men snorted, "She's a leech, Vin." he spat on the ground. "I ain't gunna let 'er leave here alive."

The other two men grunted in agreement. The vampire looked around nervously. She was defenseless. As two of the three men lunged forward to a killing strike, Zarek lunged out from his hiding place. His sword parried one of the attacks, and made the other man stumble in surprise. The man in the red cloak had grabbed the third man and threw him off to the side with super-human like strength. It took a moment for Zarek to realize what had happened, but the red cloaked man had just saved him and the vampire.

After a breif battle between the group, Zarek and the man in the red cloak were victorious. Zarek turned to the man, wary at first. "Who are you?"

"Vincent. Vincent Riker." Vincent eyed Zarek, then the vampire.

The Vampire introduced herself as Ancient, and nothing else. Zarek and Vincent offered to escort Ancient wherever she had been heading, and she agreed. She lead them far away from town, deeper into the mountains, until finally they came to a clearing. A large stone castle stood in the middle of the clearing. It looked, well, ancient. Zarek and Vincent bid Ancient good-bye, and both of them headed back towards town.

As they walked, the two of them started talking. Vincent explained to Zarek that he was part of the Vatican Hunters, a group of warriors and mages who sought out evil and destroyed it. He also explained over the last few years that the Vatican had become corrupt and started acting more like sanctioned thugs than anything else. Today, Vincent had had enough of it, and with that battle, he left the Vatican.

Zarek was, naturally, pretty hesitant about explaining who he was to Vincent. And Vincent, oddly enough, understood. The two found themselves talking through the entire walk back to town, and even after they where back. Vincent told Zarek he had been planning on taking up residence in the town even before he became a deserter, and that he was planning on setting up his own Hunting business. He offered Zarek a partnership in it. And Zarek accepted.

Over the next year Zarek and Vincent had become close friends, relying on each other in battle and off the battlefield. Zarek had even met with Ancient more and it was quickly apparently, to Vincent atleast, that the two where hitting it off. And after three years, just as he had said, Zarek and Ancient began dating.

Tristian

Tristian had been continuing his hunt for Dimensions that Chaos had corrupted. He had found a previous Dimension that was worse than the World he had found Diana on. The difference was, every human had been turned into a monster. In that Dimension he was able to assault heaven head on, thanks to the powers of the two previous gods and the few Minor-Gods he had absorbed. He destroyed most of the Gods in that World with ease, only having trouble with the God who ruled over Heaven. But eventually the God did fall, and Tristian took his power aswell.

When Tristian found hismelf in this next world he was expecting another fight. Instead of stepping out of the portal and into an open field, or in a forest, he stepped right out into Heaven. He was surrounded by Demi-Gods, Gods, and Angels. He wasn't ready for a fight, but after seeing everyone around him, he was ready for death. Instead... they greeted him with cheerful hellos, plates full of food and glasses full of drink.

He was treated like royalty, given anything he wanted and more. He was used to having to get by just by what he could find. He wasn't used to... This. He was so caught up in this new treatment that he didn't even realize how long had passed, how long he had been there. It was as if as soon as he took a bite out of the food he was given, time slowed for him. What seemed like hours, was really months.

But he didn't know this. And one day, a Demi-God came to him, saying someone wanted to meet Tristian. He followed the Demi-God into a palace, and into a bed chamber. The Demi-God left and closed the door behind him, leaving Tristian alone. He was confused as he looked around the room, wondering who he was suppose to meet. And then the door in the back opened, and none other than the God Chaos stepped into the room. "When I heard that you had came here, I admit. I couldn't help but to think you were following me." Chaos stepped forward, stopping infront of Tristian. "But then I remembered, even you are not that stupid."

Chaos stared Tristian down. "Are you... that stupid?"

Tristian wanted to punch the God, and keep on punching untill he stopped moving. But that would've just been suicide. "You wouldn't be the first to think it." He said through gritted teeth.

Chaos smiled. "This World is truely beauitful isn't it?" He had started to circle Tristian. "It is why I have chosen it to corrupt. Yet I'm having some trouble. It seems the Gods here want nothing more than to please others, and not themselves." The God sighed and stopped infront of Tristian again. "But tell me. Have you noticed anything about this place?"

Tristian studied Chaos. "Other than a world full of Gods who have managed to avoid your corruption? No."

Chaos laughed. "No. No, that's not it. They've not let you out of Heaven, have they?"

"I've only been here a few hours." Tristian narrowed his eyes.

Chaos looked directly at Tristian, a blank look on his face. "Have you?"

Tristian blinked, and something caught his eye. He looked to his left and into a mirror. His reflection showed a man who hadn't shaved in years. He felt of the shaggy beard on his face, then looked to Chaos. "What did you do to me?!" He snapped.

Chaos frowned. "I have done nothing. Infact I've been in the same position you are since we last met.

"Then why did they let me see you?" Tristian was wairy.

"Because they think I'm under their spell still. Much like you were." Chaos stepped up to Tristian. "We will never leave here, unless we work together. Afterwards, you can go back to trying to kill me. Deal?"

Chaos held his hand out to Tristian. "Deal." Tristian gritted his teeth, but didn't shake Chaos' hand. "And how do you suppose we go about getting out of this world?"

"We kill everything." Chaos shrugged.

Without any warning, the door flew off its hinges, and Chaos strode out. He began killing anyone who approached him, and soon afterwards the Demi-Gods began fighting back. Tristian watched after Chaos with a dumbfounded look but he eventually gathered himself and went to the fight. Admitidly, the rush of power from fighitng along side of Chaos nearly went to Tristian's head. He and the God were untouchable.

They went through all of Heaven and killed everyone who challanged them. When they finally marched into the Palace of the Gods, they met heavier resistance. But it was nothing the two couldn't get through. The battle against the Gods themselves was, to say, not very climactic. After the Gods were killed, Tristian had turned to face Chaos. He intended to attack while the God was offguard, however when he turned around he found himself staring at nothing. The God had already fled.

Tristian cursed under his breath, calling the God a coward. Before the Dimension began to collapse on itself, Tristian absorbed the power of the strongest God... and fled himself.

Zarek

It had been eight years since Zarek met Ancient, and life had been far from dull. He had enemies everywhere, it seemed. A group of Demons, rogue vampires, and Werewolves had been assaulting him, Vincent, and Ancient. They had managed to fight them off each time, with a castuality or two every so often, but otherwise they survived. They never, however, found out why all of these creatures attacked them.

Zarek and Vincent had moved in with Ancient. Her castle provided a good deal of protection, and was high enough over the moutains that they could actually see the town. When Zarek wasn't busy fighting off the mysterious attackers, he noticed one obvious thing about this world. The Gods seemed to not care what happened to the mortals.

Every so often, Hell would try and invade the mortal realm, and the only time Heaven ever intervened was when Lucius and Raphael came down to help protect Zarek. On one of these trips, while Vincent and Raphael were fighting back a demon, Lucius pulled Zarek aside and spoke to him.

"You should leave this world, Zarek." Lucius had said.

"No. I can't. I can't leave Ancient. These people." Zarek had motioned around the town of Translyvania. He had grown fond of many of the townsfolk, and they him.

Lucius frowned. "The Gods don't care about this place. They rather see Earth burn then Hell take over, but they don't want to lift a finger to help. The only reason they haven't yet, is because you've managed to close the portals before they've been opened fully."

"Then I'll keep doing it." Zarek stood his ground. "I won't let these people down."

And then Zarek and Ancient had a child. Zarek managed to convince Lucius and Raphael to stay on Earth, and help protect Ancient and his child. While Zarek, Vincent, and Raphael fought against the hordes of Hell, and the Rogue monsters, Lucius protected Ancient and the child Stryker.

And on the eighth birthday of the child, Zarek was greeted by an old face. After he and Vincent finished closing a portal that was attempting to open, they were greeted by the usual cheers of the townsfolk. One person stood out from the crowd, however. He wore green. A lot of it, and his eyes had a green glow to them. The man smiled from under his green cloak and hood, walking forward.

"That was quite a show of power, brother." Tristian's voice came from under the hood. He pulled the hood back with a laugh.

Zarek stared forward at his brother. "Tristian... What... What are you? How did you...?"

Tristian put his hands on his brothers shoulders as the crowd began to disperse. Vincent stood beside Zarek with a confused look. All this time, Zarek had never actually talked about his past. So seeing someone actually from his past was a bit of a shock. Zarek's expression turned from one of shock, to one of exasperation.

"You got us kicked out of Heaven." Zarek glared.

Tristian sighed and lowered his hands. "I know, I know. I'm sorry. I didn't know it would happen, I promise you."

All of Zarek's anger faded from there. He really didn't care about the past now. All he wanted to do was learn about his brother, and what he had been doing. Tristian seemed interested in the same, as the first thing he did was ask who Vincent was. Zarek began explaining everything to his brother. (After Vincent was out of ear shot) He explained about Sarah, Leo, Lucius and Raphael, and even Ancient.

Zarek waited to tell Tristian about his child. He led his brother to Ancients castle, and while Stryker was outside playing, under the watchful eye of Raphael, Zarek introduced Ancient to Tristian.

Tristian

After meeting Zarek's wife, Tristian wasn't sure if he would be able to go through with his plan. It was getting closer and closer to the time when Tristian would return home and wage a false war against his father and the other Gods. And Zarek needed to know who the enemy was, who to hate, and who to protect the world against. And it was just that much harder when Tristian met Zarek's son.

The day passed, and Tristian was invited to stay the night as a guest. He waited until Ancient and Zarek slept and then crept into their room, then killed Ancient. Zarek woke easier than Tristian had expected, and when Zarek lashed out towards Tristian with a hidden knife, Tristian reacted before he could think. A blast of energy shot Zarek from out of his bed, through the castle wall, and out into the forest.

Tristian wasn't sure how much damage he did to Zarek, but he knew the castle wasn't going to stand up for much longer. Tristian turned to exit back through the room to try and find the child, but the child had found him. Stryker was standing, wide-eyed, in the doorway staring right at Tristian. He could tell the child was confused and scared and he just didn't have the heart. Instead of slaying the kid, he took the child with him to another dimension, a dimension where there was enough supplies for Stryker to live a full life, and no one to hurt.

And after he left that dimension, he sealed it using the power of the power of the three gods he had absorbed.

Zarek

Zarek awoke in a panic, laying on a straw bed in what looked like a wooden cabin. He was beside of a fireplace, which was the only source of light in the room. At first he could only hear the roaring of the fire, but as his nerves calmed it became quickly apparently that he was not alone in the room. His eyes darted around in the dim light, but there was too much darkness, and a good portion of the room was darker than night. Then a voice made itself known.

"You can thank my sister." It was a cold voice, and defiantly not filled with kindness. "I would've left you out for the wolves."

Zarek scrambled up to his feet, reaching for where his sword should've been. Then he remembered what had happened, what Tristian had done. "What... The castle... Stryker, Ancient!" He had been about to rush out of the cabin, but the door swung open to show a female figure, also mostly hidden by the shadows, standing in the way.

The male voice spoke again. "The woman was dead. Anyone else in the castle would have died when it collapsed."

"Al!" The woman's voice shouted. "Jesus, learn some emotion."

Zarek didn't want to accept this. He pushed past the woman, and after finding out exactly where he was, headed in the direction of the castle. He could hear two sets of footsteps behind him, most likely the woman and the man, but at the moment... He didn't care.

When he reached the remains of the castle he nearly lost himself. The building was in ruins, and Ancient's body was laying off to the side. (They had been nice enough to atleast cover her body, but he still knew.) Zarek spent the rest of the night clearing out debris, looking for his son. Raphael and Lucius returned later that night and joined in the search, but nothing was ever found.

The next few years of Zarek's life went by, surprisingly, fast. He learned who the two strangers where. Rosa Lynn, and Adrian Tepes. ("As in... Vlad Tepes' son?" Lucius was weary at first, but Adrian proved to be nothing like his father, who in this dimension, was nothing more than a monster with power over a kingdom of vampires.) And despite how Zarek withdrew from most of society, he continued to protect people with more determination than ever, while also hunting down Tristian and dealing with his minions, who still popped up from time to time.

Zarek, Lucius, Vincent, and Raphael were eventually introduced to Rosa's friends, and parents. There was an entire group who had moved into the region, and had been doing a lot of the same work Zarek had. Simon, who Zarek never learned his last name, Leo Davenpoint, Angelia Tepes, who Adrian explained, wasn't his actual sister, but a year before Vlad had been cursed into being a Vampire, had actually adopted her, and Kane and Donna Lynn, Rosa's father and mother (Who were part of an ancient order of Spellcasters, their powers passed through blood).

It took Zarek many more years before he eventually decided to crawl out of his little shell, and, like Vincent and the two angel brothers had already been doing, started to converse with the group. Things had actually began looking up for Zarek, though he would never forget Ancient and Stryker, he moved on with his life. And he did it with Angelia.

Tristian

Tristian's life had seemed to move even faster than Zarek's. After having to kill Zarek's second wife, and abandoned Zarek's son into a dimension which was locked forever, he had moved back to his old game of hunting down corrupt Dimensions and gods.

He never stayed in one dimension for too long, afraid of becoming too close with anyone. He found himself focused on the task, and unfortunately, he also found himself loosing pieces of his humanity. Three Dimensions and Gods had been destroyed by him, each of them evil beyond redemption. Or had they been? After taking the essence of so many corrupt beings, Tristian didn't know if he was just as bad, or if he was still doing a service to everyone.

But he finally found himself back in the Dimension with Zarek, (despite having made various returns to half-heartedly attack Zarek and his friends.) And things had changed greatly...

Zarek/Tristian

Angelia and Zarek had married, and so had Rosa and Vincent. The group was as close as family, and both Rosa and Angelia were expecting. Zarek, Vincent, and the other men normally spent the day Hunting, seeking out anything that would prey on humanity. Either that, or Zarek was dealing with Dracula, who absolutely hated Zarek.

Adrian didn't exactly hate Zarek, but the two had a sort of rivalry, always fighting each other in spars to see who the strongest was. It normally ended with both of them not able to lift a finger, with no clear winner. And half the time it was the scenery that suffered the most. But any time either of them actually needed help, they were at each others backs.

Tristian wasn't happy, finding out that Zarek was expecting again. But he was mostly angry at it because... he didn't know if he could take Zarek's life away from him again. So he decided to do something about it this time. Tristian traveled back to his home world, hiding his presence from everyone. He approached his father, desperate for another solution...

He was told of something that may work in suppressing the energy the child would be given on his or her eighth birthday, and keeping the child from becoming evil. So one night, as everyone slept, Tristian once again found himself standing over Zarek's wife. This time, he did not kill her or harm her in any way. Instead he cast a ritual, using a portion of his own energy to act as a bottlecap, for when the child turned eight. The child wouldn't be able to become any stronger, or absorb any energy. Therefore it would not take the role that Zarek had originally suppose to take.

And so the world turned, after that. Angelia gave birth to Anora, and Rosa gave birth to Elena. Zarek was caught in so many battles, he lost track. With help from Lucius, Raphael, and the Lynn family, Zarek was able to slow down the aging of his family, and since most of his friends were immortal in some way or other... Zarek was content. The years continued on, Tristian kept his ruse up but never once tried to actually kill his brother, or any of his family, and as long as he could continue to see his brother live the life that he wanted, he was happy with that.

Like all stories though, things changed. One day Tristian began noticing something in Anora. She was becoming more hostile, not thinking her actions through all the way. And then one day, her energy spiked. The ritual Tristian had cast was fading, and he couldn't get close enough to her to cast another one. Before Tristian could do anything about it, Anora snapped, and began attacking everyone close to her.

On that day, Tristian intervened. He fought against Anora, who had gained power far beyond what even he had. The fight itself raged on for ages, and as it did, Hell began to take notice of the chaos on earth, and took advantage. Heaven, feeling Hell's intrusion, kick-started Armageddon. Tristian was losing his battle with Anora, and had to come up with a plan.

So he left Anora on earth, and traveled into Heaven. He killed each Minor God, and took their power, leaving the ruling God for last. He wasn't nearly as strong as Tristian, but it would be enough for what he needed. So he killed the God, absorbed its power, and confronted Anora again. While the dimension collapsed on itself, Tristian opened a portal into an unknown dimension, and threw an unconscious Zarek into it. It was now seconds before the Dimension was going to fully collapse, and kill everyone in it. Tristian held Anora off until just the right moment... and he escaped, leaving Anora to die with that world...

The Paragon Years

Zarek awoke in the strange, new dimension. A world full of people who flew, lifted buildings, and drove strange mechanical creatures on wheels. A place where people with magical abilities were called Heroes, and someone in his line of work was included in that category. Zarek, who had seen Tristian destroying everything and everyone he loved, instead of the truth, wanted nothing more than to end his feud with Tristian once and for all.

Zarek learned the ways of this new world, its technology, and its magic. He made allies, and new enemies, but he never lost track of his goal. He spent five years in this new world, fighting Tristian and any other evil-being that threatened him, his new friends, or his new home.

Eventually, Zarek learned of something he had almost forgotten. His home was under attack, and the Gods where losing a way. Zarek left the dimension intending to find out what was happening at his home. He found out soon enough that Tristian was what happened...

The Death of The Father

While Tristian's forces battled the angels of heaven, Tristian himself stood in the palace of the gods, surrounded by the Gods, and his mother and father. But they where not fighting, they where simply standing there... The war raged on outside, with Zarek joining the battle. The moment grew closer and closer as Zarek fought his way to the palace.

Tristian looked around at the Gods as they all gave their power, willingly, to Tristian. All but his father. "I love you, son." Leas smiled at Tristian.

And then he, and his wife (though she was only an Angel) gave their essence to Tristian, essentially killing themselves. This is when Zarek finally made it to the palace. He threw open the doors, and saw only Tristian standing there. Tristian turned to look at his brother, having to calm his emotions, and simply gave him a cold stare. A portal opened infront of Tristian and he stepped through, leaving Zarek behind in the dying Dimension.

Zarek did escape, back into the former Dimension, but Tristian was waiting for him. The battle that followed was nothing short of something indescribable, but Zarek was never able to wound Tristian. So he did the only thing he could, he fled the dimension.

The Millennium Years

Floatingswords.jpg

Zarek traveled from dimension to dimension, never stopping, never settling down again, for fear that Tristian would destroy another world. He spent so long jumping between dimensions that time lost meaning to him, and with each jump and the further he traveled, he could feel his energy leaving him.

Each jump was making him weaker, and eventually Tristian would catch up, or Zarek wouldn't be able to travel anymore. So Zarek searched for a world that could survive Tristian's assault, and he found it in Millennium City.

What Zarek didn't know, was each jump Tristian made also made him weaker, and soon all of the power that he had absorbed from each god would be diminished. And while Zarek gained more allies in this new world, he and Tristian continued their rivalry, never able to beat one-another. With the help of Mystics from Millennium City, Zarek devised a new plan to stop Tristian, and amazingly it didn't involve death.

He and a group of allies cast a ritual circle, and drew Tristian to the site. When the two engaged each other, the mystics began their job. While the brothers fought, Tristian's soul was slowly being bound to Zarek's. When the ritual was complete, Zarek had control of Tristian's power, able to strip him of all power, or give him access to his own. Zarek stripped all of Tristians power from him, and imprisoned him.

Virgil Wolffe

Stryker had grown tired of his imprisonment. He had all this power, and nothing to use it on. He was going stir crazy in the dimension that housed no human being, other than himself. When he thought it couldn't get any worse, the light at the end of the tunnel finally showed up. The God Chaos tore open the wards that trapped Stryker, and the God attempted at making a deal with Stryker.

"Find and Destroy the Alexander brothers, and I will give you power, beyond even what you currently possess."

Stryker... wasn't interested in following Chaos' plans. With a snap of his fingers, Chaos was destroyed, and each bit of the Gods power was given to Stryker. Since then, Stryker has abandoned his birth name, and taken up the name Virgil Wolffe. With the wards broken on his dimension, he was free to travel wherever he wanted. So he visited the dimension closest to him, and began a reign of terror. Every human being in the dimension was turned into creatures of darkness, and the world itself was warped, turned into a demented man's play thing.

He had his own world now, a place where he could create anything he wanted. He was a god, with an army of Nightmare-ish creatures that could read minds, and take the form of whatever its victim feared the most. He wanted revenge on the man who sent him to his isolation, and he wanted revenge on the man who let him be taken away. His father, and his uncle.

So he sent a creation of woman who both of them knew and loved. He sent a false Angela, their mother, to lull them into a false sense of security. And one night, while all three of them slept, he abducted them. Forced to fight inside of a Dimension where their very fears attacked them, Zarek had no choice but to give Tristian his powers back. The three of them fought against the hordes of Virgil's creations, and to make it even worse on the bothers... Virgil had the false Angela killed.

Eventually, thanks to the work of the mystics in Millennium and Vibora, the brothers where returned to their world. Virgil still waits for the perfect time to attack, but he knows that as long as the two remain in Millennium, he will never be able to enact his revenge...

William Hunter

When Zarek first came to this dimension, he was alone and unsure of what to do. A group of Hunters found him, and began teaching him the ways of this world, and everything he needed to know to hunt and to survive. Together, they formed an Organization of Hunters and began recruiting. After helping recruit most of the Hunters, and overseeing their training, Zarek ended up leaving the Organization after they became so fixated on wiping out everything they thought was evil.

One of the recruits Zarek had trained was named William, and before he had left, he had noticed William had shown more promise than any of the others. He was faster, stronger, and had a firmer grasp of the way magic worked in the world. But William was also one of the major reasons Zarek had left. William had gained a reputation as being one of the most cut-throat Hunters, even dispatching Civilians that tried to stand in his way. Or worse, Heroes.

A year has passed since then, and William has been searching for Zarek. William had recovered an artifact, a necklace, that no amount of magic could remove. It had began to taint him, and slowly, kill him. He had hoped his old teacher could help him, but after threatening Zarek and those close to him had failed to work, William went about it a different way. He met a God. Or, someone he thought was a god. Virgil Wolffe confronted William with an Avatar of his image. He would save him, if William helped bring down Zarek and Tristian for good.

So William began weaving a web of lies, bringing the Organization, and even Hell itself against the brothers. Even though his plan failed, and Virgil was able to take the brothers into another dimension. And though they had escaped from even that, William still expects Virgil to hold up his end of the deal. But, unbeknownst to William, Virgil has different plans for him, leading to something more dangerous than the little necklace around his neck... Plans that will eventually bring down the Nightwood brothers!

Now

Zarek and Tristian have seemed to put their past differences aside. Zarek continues to hunt, and Tristian provides support, magical or otherwise. The two of them are friends with many other heroes and are seen around Millennium and Vibora frequently. Zarek has taken up to not only Hunting, but being a Hero.

Tristian has put his fighting days behind him. His past haunts him, all of the wrong doings he committed to keep his brother from becoming a monster... But if the day ever called for it, he would do whatever necessary to protect his brother. Even if it meant killing the person Zarek cared about the most...

About Zarek

Zarek, once a Demi-God of another Dimension, is mortal. Through the combination of the Universe, Various Gods, and his own energy, Zarek is able use Magic. He is also a very fine swordsman, able to hold his own against any meta-human, Demon, or other powerful creature. His early life was wrought with mayhem and chaos, but over the years things have calmed down. Zarek's regeneration tends to keep him safe from most attacks, though there is technology and magic out there that can stop his regeneration.

Zarek is a Hunter of Vampires, Demons, and Werewolves. He often can be found hunting other creatures, such as Spirits or Body Snatchers, even though his specializes in Vampires. One major thing to know about Zarek is, even though he's a Hunter, he rarely slays without reason. Creatures that kill when there's no need are his target. Creatures that are here for the good of humanity are safe from him.

Zarek's past holds many dark secrets, and many powerful enemies. Many of these enemies are far stronger than he is, but it never stops Zarek from coming out on top. Sometimes his enemies are thought to be dead, and yet somehow manage to find Zarek and reek havoc on his life. These enemies normally come from other Dimensions, though he has been making new enemies in MCity.

Zarek looks like a cold-hearted man, someone you'd probably want to stay away from. But the truth is, he's a nice guy. Though he doesn't mind his "tough guy" look, because it keeps people away from him; and keeps him from getting attached to people. Because Tristian likes to pick off those Zarek cares about most, the tough guy look does a good job for him. Zarek is also a Slayer, but he only slays evil. Vampires who simply feed, and not kill their prey, to him, are not evil. If a Creature is defending itself from an unjust attack, he will aid that creature. He refuses to hunt for money and personal gain, feeling that its the Hunters that do do that are the ones giving him a bad name.

Many people, thinking that since Zarek regenerates he shouldn't have a scar. This is true. The reason Zarek has his scar, is because of something that happened to him long, long ago. When he first became mortal, during his first marriage, one day his home was attacked by Vampires with his wife inside. Using not more than common farm tools, Zarek tried to fight the Vampires, but received a scar as a reminder. Even after gaining regenerative powers, an already formed scar could not be healed. So he wears his scar with pride, reminding himself that even without powers, he could still protect his loved ones.

About Tristian

Tristian is a Demi-God, though because he hasn't actually fought in a while... his power is greatly diminished. He prefers to use magic, rather than swords, though he is capable in both arts. Like Zarek, Tristian can still hold his own against any Super-Hero or supernatural creature thats thrown at him. His regeneration is much like Zarek, only his seems to be more powerful. The same type of magic and technology that can halt Zarek's regeneration can do the same to his, only it takes a double dose.

Tristian comes off as a generally nice guy. He seems to have a small smile on his face at all times, and honestly, it can get a little creepy. Like his brother, he's a good guy at heart, even though he's committed many evil crimes. He's always willing to help, as long as it doesn't mean he has to pick up a sword or assault anyone with magic, and more times than not, he provides lore knowledge to Zarek on his hunts, or contacts the local Police, PRIMUS, or UNTIL office for backup, if a hero should need it.

The Brothers Arsenal

Ranging from spells, to holy relics, to magic, the Nightwood Brothers have many tricks up their sleeves to deal with the Supernatural threat... And the not-so-supernatural threat.

Both Brothers swords are, to say the least, special. Their swords are tied to their very own aura. Its what allows them to summon their swords whenever they're needed. In addition to never being too far from their swords, since the Brothers aura's are inherently made up of holy magic, so are their swords.

Another blade the brothers carry with them are knives. Be it for throwing, or for some reason that they can't, or won't, use their swords. Their knives are treated the same way as Zarek's stakes to get the maximum amount of supernatural slaying power.

Zarek has another tool in fighting evil, one that his brother does not have. Zarek may not be a Demi-God anymore, nor does he have any powers of an Angel, or Demi-God, he does however still have holy blood flowing through his veins. This allows him to focus his energy into the palm of his hand and bring his blood to the surface, giving him a sort of instant exorcism against weaker Demons. It also greatly harms any other Demon that's strong enough to need a proper exorcism, as well as any Vampire or other evil creature. Unfortunately this has a certain draw-back. To Vampires, his blood might as well be the nectar of ambrosia. Despite the holy magic, the blood dilutes it into something almost unresistable once tasted, unless the magic is brought to the surface by Zarek's will.

Over all, Zarek's blood is his best tool. Able to turn just about any weapon into a holy one, just by soaking the tip of it in his blood, he carries with him many Stakes that have done just that. In addition to stakes and his normal swords, Zarek also carries a spare Silver sword that's had its edges coated in his own blood. It makes the silver sword a lethal weapon against Vampires and Werewolves.

Wolfsbane, poisonous to Werewolves, is another one of Zarek's tools. He carries it with him always, and often times will crush it up into a thin powder and sprinkle it onto his blades. It makes dealing with Werewolves easier.

Zarek also has a curious amulet, which he carries around tucked under his shirt. Its a replica of an Amulet of Erebus, allowing him very slight control over shadows. Mainly that he can create Shadow Wisps of his own form to fight along side of him. He can also use it to transport himself short distances through shadows. Very short distance.

Hrunting

Hrunting was a magical sword given to Beowulf by Unferth in the ancient Old English epic poem Beowulf. Beowulf used it in battle against Grendel's Mother.

Beowulf is described receiving the sword in lines 1455-1458:

"And another item lent by Unferth
at that moment of need was of no small importance:
the brehon handed him a hilted weapon,
a rare and ancient sword named Hrunting.
The iron blade with its ill-boding patterns
had been tempered in blood. It had never failed
the hand of anyone who hefted it in battle,
anyone who had fought and faced the worst
in the gap of danger. This was not the first time
it had been called to perform heroic feats.[1]

However, although the sword possessed great power and was claimed to have never failed anyone who used it, when Beowulf descended to the bottom of the lake to fight Grendel's mother, the sword proved ineffective. As the "fabulous powers of that heirloom failed," Beowulf was forced to discard it.

Its believed after Beowulf defeated Grendel, the sword's powers returned. Many believe this sword exists only in fantasy, but then if this was true... What is Zarek doing with an ancient iron sword that gives off the feel of ancient, powerful magic...?

Important NPC's

Therakiel: Ever since Zarek learned of Therakiel, he's been trying to keep an eye on him. The hard part is, keeping track of the Fallen one. He was cast down for not choosing sides in the Great War, but Hell did not want him either. Instead, he was cast to earth, and has since then been most likely plotting unknown horrors. Zarek was called by the Elementals to help fight against Therakiel, and he plans to do so until the fallen can be banished. For good.

Vladic Dracul: After learning that in this Dimension, Vlad the Impaler's father became the Dracula everyone knows and loves to hate, Zarek set out to make sure he could get in the way of the Vampires plans. Ever since coming to Vibora, Zarek has done nothing but that, spending almost all of his time cleaning out New Shadows' nests.
