Carmilla VI is a descendant of the much older vampire from the 19th century, Carmilla. Though little to nothing is known of this vampiric warrior, she seems to show willingness to help out mortals, and holds little ill will to humankind, despite her dependence on their blood.

Origins

Theories

As it turns out, nobody actually knows anything about Carmilla's past. All she has told officials is that she hails from southern Germany and has been alive and helping humankind for decades. There are many who doubt her origins, let alone her intentions, but the theories on where she might come from differ wildly between experts in the field.

A direct descendant

There are some who believe that Carmilla's name is indeed carried down from the original Vampire of Austria, Countess Mircalla Karnstein (of which Carmilla is an anagram alias), who had used her powers to prey upon young women within the area. Given some of the uncertainty on how names like this would be transferred from one generation of vampires to the next, it could be that the bloodline of Carmilla is simply a lineage of mortals who once had been victimized by the said countess. It could just be the case that her 6th victim happened to be a particularly philanthropic lady.

If this were the case, however, why would Carmilla VI wear her name with such pride? In most appearances in the press, this is the name she has formally accepted. It could easily be the case that Carmilla VI is attempting to repair some of the damaged reputation that the name holds. One would assume that being only able to work at night and being very vulnerable to specific metallic elements would put a damper in that plan, but she doesn't seem to really mind.

A wannabe

Carmilla in combat garb, bearing her wings.
Another distinct possibility is that Carmilla VI is a vampire, but not even closely related to the original Countess. Given how it is difficult to exactly run some sort of DNA test to match vampire tissue (since, in essence, a vampiricized person still holds on to most of their original DNA after being turned), the theory can't really be explicitly proven or disproven. What is known, however, is that Carmilla VI seems to wear her name with quite a bit of pride; perhaps too much pride.

When compacted with some reports of break-ins by a female figure who manages to flee by phasing through solid matter in the northeastern US, it seems equally strange that a vampire that claims to 'want to repair the reputation of Carmilla' would be stooping to the same habits the original countess did. It could be very much the case that Carmilla VI is just another vampire who is enamored with Count Mircalla's feeding habits.

Not a vampire

A last party of experts believe that Carmilla VI isn't even a vampire. Despite being seen flying using large wings sprouting from her back and witnessed biting viciously at enemies in combat, there have been a few isolated instances where people looking quite similar to Carmilla VI have been spotted; at places and times improbable for a vampire. Such spottings include her appearance at the Boston Convention Center in mid day March of 1999, and walking into a subway in New York at 4 PM. Given some unreliability in the eyewitness reports, it might be the case that it is just a lookalike, but a photo taken of the figure at the convention center seems to place some rather solid evidence that it just might be the same woman.

People who accept this theory generally assume that Carmilla VI is actually a mutant with only trace vampiric traits, limited only to shapeshifting and having sharp claws and fangs. Other evidence in her fighting style that seem to back this up include very few reports of actual 'feeding' on any victims while she is in town, the aforementioned daylight spottings, and her preference to use a silver-lined foil in combat. Is she attempting to compensate for her Vampiric heritage, or is she simply a Vampire lookalike?

Being a vampire, Carmilla's personality is not well-known, but the few times she has been spoken to, she does show a sincere desire to aid humankind. She does not respond well to spontaneous visits or paparazzi, but has proven to be quite amicable to those who have contacted her through mail or instant message.

If she has any vampiric tendencies to feed on humankind, they do not show. She refuses to 'feed' on any innocent people (while villains she has fought against do show characteristic bite marks in check-ups), and takes it upon herself to use a silver-lined blade in battle, making it somewhat dangerous if she manages to accidentally hit herself. If she indeed is actually a vampire, then she is certainly taking a lot of steps to try and recover any reputation blemishes prior instances might have caused. Her fighting style in this situation would also imply a character of either great foolhardiness, or a deep symbolic appreciation.

Combat Specifications

Her silver foil is simply lined with the allergenic metal; the core, made of tempered steel, makes it effective as any other blade out there.
Carmilla's physical capacities are quite impressive. She can lift a weight in the range of 260 pounds, and has been witnessed easily running at speeds of 30 miles per hour. Her large wings, which she can extend and retract at will, allow her to glide through the air at 60 miles per hour.

Carmilla is very hard to kill. For one thing, she has superior reflexes, which allow her to easily dash out of the way of any potential danger. Even when she has sustained damage, her blood healing, apparently using concentrated blood flow to repair damage, can patch her up and reinforce her body when the going gets too tough.

Carmilla has very limited shape-shifting abilities. She mainly uses them to sprout her wings out of her back, but she has been known to use it to transform herself into a more humanoid form, with a healthier skintone, retracted fangs, and retracted claws (though it still doesn't stop her from having no reflection). She also has been witnessed turning into a large bat-like form in emergency circumstances, but whether this actually enhances her fighting ability is unknown.

Her main weapon is her Silver-Lined foil. This fencing blade is made of a tempered steel core, making it a potent blade in its own right. On top of the core, however, is a coating of silver, which makes it an almost instantly-fatal weapon against vampires of any kind - including Carmilla herself. She has supposedly used this same blade for upwards of 80 years now, and seems to show no signs of wear for it, even if it poses a great threat to her.

Other

  • Her ingame bio has nothing to do with this aside from being extremely nondescript.
  • Here's a funny story; the whole root of her build is to be a Lightning-Reflex tank without Lightning-Reflexes. I.E, using a passive other than LR while still being dodge-focused. At first, I had chosen Invuln as my passive, only to realize that I had inadvertently turned this character into a sparkling vampire. I proceeded to flay my left arm and then respecced into Defiance.
