The Lambardians are a race of sentient clouds of psionic energy that require a physical body in order to maintain their existence. If you would like to create one, please contact @Jhuno in-game via tell or in-game mail.

Origins

Originating from an undiscovered galaxy that may not, in fact, exist any more. Evolution favored the insects on the Lambardian homeworld, and so they evolved to resemble a sort of winged, humanoid mantis at the peak of their physical evolution. After millions of years, the Lambardians eventually reached their peak - the clouds of psionic energy that they exist as today. It's unknown why the Lambardians abandoned their home systems, but it's presumed that it no longer exists.

Diet

While it isn't actually eating, Lambardians must occasionally inhabit a physical body at regular intervals in order to maintain their existence. While the older, more experienced representatives of the species can go longer without possessing a body, even they need to do this in order to avoid dissipating. As a physical species, the Lambardians were primarily carnivorous. Many of those cravings have persisted throughout their transition into a mostly energy-based species to such an extent that nearly all Lambardians consume an entirely-protein diet while possessing a physical body.

Culture

Coupling and Reproduction

New Lambardians are formed when two or more engage in a particular form of telepathic bonding that allows a direct connection between their memories. During this state, the Lambardians are vulnerable to psychic predators, so they typically do this either in private, or in physical bodies. The gestation period for an infant Lambardian is mere minutes, as the single 'child' is spawned with an assortment of knowledge and personality traits taken from both parents to various degrees.

Familial Dynamics

Likely as a result of this method of reproduction, Lambardians don't form familial ties so much as close friendships. Brothers and sisters are unheard of, and it isn't uncommon for Lambardians to reproduce with their own parents should they feel enough of a desire. Should the new Lambardian not mesh well with its parents, it will simply travel off on its own. However, the telepathic link is treated as a form of great attachment to the other, as there is always a fair risk of one Lambardian overwhelming and absorbing the others.

'Religion'

Lambardians are also able to overwhelm and absorb the personality of other sentient races, though those that willingly do so are more often than not branded as "Slayers" and actively hunted down and destroyed by other Lambardians. Most would rather allow themselves to fade from existence before they would willingly assimilate a fully sentient being. However, the corpses of said beings are fair game no matter how fresh they are. Even one who dies on the operating table for mere seconds is considered fair game, so long as brain activity has stopped.

'Education'

When inhabiting a fresh corpse, some fragments of the original owner's personality and knowledge are sometimes left behind. These are typically assimilated into the Lambardian's personality, though the more ancient Lambardians may grow to become unstable or, if all of the various fragments are compatible, give birth to an entirely new child. While exceedingly rare, these "Shardborn" Lambardians don't enjoy any particular status among their peers and their origin is treated as little more than a curiosity.
