Overview
Comedy is a moderately to highly dangerous supercriminal. He has moderate training in firearms, explosives, boxing and taekwondo. PRIMUS advises its agents not to attempt to approach Comedy alone under any circumstances. He has proven to be highly intelligent and shows little to no remorse in incapacitating or killing those he percieves as working for or with the government. This includes but is not limited to PRIMUS agents, politicians, bank staff, anyone employed directly or indirectly by the government (postal workers, council workers, etc.), and all superheroes, licensed or not. He is a self-described anarchist whose general mode of operation is to attack facilities or individuals he percieves as vital to the continued operation of the government using either explosives or firearms. He will not hesitate to engage any law enforcement authorities who attempt to stop him in combat, although he does have a strong degree of self-preservation, usually fleeing the scene when more than one or two law enforcement authorities or superheroes at a time arrive.
History
Background
Little is known about Comedy's life before he created the identity of Comedy. It is his own testimony that he "had one bad day too many, and Uncle Sam wasn't doing ahit about it. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Hell, superheroes do it, why can't I? Only I wouldn't be attacking crime. I'd be attacking poor leadership. But there's a lot of it. So I figured I'd need some big guns...". He claims to have spent a year coordinating with various underworld connections (which suggests that, if he is telling the truth, Comedy had underworld contacts and was presumably an underworld figure before he took up the Comedy identity) to learn how to handle firearms and explosives, as well as to become proficient with boxing techniques and in the martial art of taekwondo. It is suggested that he then created a 'super' style identity for himself to operate under. His reasoning was as follows (the following is a testimony by James Sutherland, also known as the prominent underworld figure Casket):
So we're havin' a few drinks, talking crap - you known how it is when you're on the piss - and I asks him "Hey, how come you dress up like that anyway? I mean, usually the only guys who does business in a suit like that are total whacks, and you seem alright to me." And he looks at me and he says "Well, it comes down to two reasons. One is that I obviously don't want people knowing who I am, given the things I do. The police'd be down on me like a ton of bricks. The second is a matter of publicity. You ever wonder why there are so many muggings and terrible things happen in this city every day, but in the papers and the word on the street you only hear about the ones done by guys in costumes? It's 'cause they're more interesting. And when I do something, I want people to hear about it. That's the whole point. So when I was starting out I think "right, now I need to make sure I'm memorable". So I figure that it's the real nuts that people notice, right? The guys who think it's all a big joke and they're the punchline. So I figure to make a costume that makes me out I'm a real nut. Bright yellow, black, smiley face, the whole works. And as I'm making it, the name Comedy just came into my head, and it stuck. So here I am." Guy's a total nut but I see what he's gettin' at, you know?
First Attack
After creating the Comedy identity and learning the necessary skills, Comedy planned and executed his first attack. On the 17th of December, 2005, he attacked the Millenium City Head Postal Office, setting and detonating multiple large C4 explosives. The initial explosions killed 3 people and injured 16 more. Structural damage caused by the explosions caused the building to collapse, killing 24 people and injuring 52 more. It is believed that the explosives were detonated via remote. Moments after the attack, a note, typed up on a computer and printed out, was left on the windshield of an MCPD patrol car that was unmanned and parked outside the destroyed Head Postal Office while the officers who had the car signed out, Frank Daley and Selene Heywood, were assisting in the rescue of injured civilians. The note read (transcripted from the original note):
My name is Comedy. The post office? That was me. The government is corrupt. Every government we've ever had has been either corrupt or idiotic. Government is an idealistic human invention, one that has proven to be a complete failure. I only seek to remove the stain of that failure from our society, so we may move on and begin living productive lives rather than the worker bee sham ones we lead today.
It is unknown where Comedy recieved the explosives used in the attack. It would be the first of multiple attacks over a short period of time.
Activity From 17th of December, 2005, to the 19th of June, 2006
27th December, 2005 - A shooting spree in Millenium City Central kills 12 people and injures 7. 6th January, 2006 - A bomb placed on a subway train explodes and kills 37 people, injuring 143. The attack also collapsed a major subway line to the main government district of Millenium City, preventing many government workers from getting to and from work. It is believed that this was the main purpose of the attack. 12th March, 2006 - Explosives are discovered planted around the town hall. The explosives are disarmed before detonating. 9th May, 2006 - Judge Delbert Maxwell and lawyer Elise McDermott are found murdered in their homes. It is believed they were killed regarding their involvement in the recent Kyle O'Hardy (CEO of BioTeknik Industries) money embezzlement case. Elise McDermott defendedO'Hardy, and Judge Maxwell found him not guilty. No attempt was reported on O'Hardy's life.
The 19th of June, 2006
On the 19th of June, 2006, Comedy was shot in the stomach from afar by an unknown assailant while apparently staking out a new target - Popular superhero nightclub Club Caprice. The incident was, astonishingly, entirely recorded on a camera phone by Joe Isaac, who was outside the club standing in line, waiting to get in. Joe's testimony regarding the event is as follows:
So, I'm just waiting outside Club Caprice to get in - they're friggin' crazy strict about who gets in and who doesn't - and I see this dude in a costume a little way away, sort of partially hiding behind a corner, and he's watching the club. I look closer and I realise it's that Comedy dude who all the papers have been on about. He killed all those people and stuff. I recognised him 'cause they show the security footage and police sketches all the time on the news. I guess he scared a lot of people. Anyway, I figure I should get some footage since it's so rare. I know I should have called the cops first thing, but at the time you aren't thinking properly, you know? So anyway I start recording and then there's a gunshot and he's on the ground clutching his stomach. My first thought is "Holy crap, someone help him!". Wasn't really thinking clearly - the guy deserved worse. Anyway, then he gets up - I don't know how, I really don't - and he runs off. And only then does it click that I should call the cops. It was pretty crazy. Whole thing went down in less than a minute.
It is thought that Comedy recieved life-saving medical care from a mob doctor, as no formal report was recieved from any medical practitioner regarding having treated a patient with a gunshot wound to the stomach on the 19th of June, 2006.
The incident caused Comedy to cease operation for an extended period of time, which reports suggest he spent first recovering from the attack, then rehabilitating, and finally seeking out the perpetrator of the attack.
To this day, the perpetrator of the attack is unknown. It is also unknown why Comedy chose to appear in costume near Club Caprice. The incident is still flagged as suspicious.
Attack on the Harlequin
On the 10th of December, 2009, Comedy came back into the public light after over three years of hiatus. Several eyewitnesses reported seeing superhero The Harlequin and Comedy engaged in hand-to-hand combat on a rooftop in the Westside district. Reportedly, the two "punched at each other for a little while. Harlequin seemed to be winning. Then then rolled right out of sight. I think they fell off the roof."
A few minutes later, another witness reported having seen Comedy fleeing the scene. The supercriminal did not appear to be severly injured. The Harlequin escaped the incident relatively unscathed. The incident marked Comedy's return to public operation as a supercriminal.
Current Operation
Currently, Comedy is rumoured to be involved with the mysterious 'Redemption' group. He is also rumoured to be affiliated with the emerging criminal group Nemesis. This reports may or may not be accurate - further inquiry is needed.
Powers and Abilities
Comedy has no apparent or reported superhuman powers or abilities. However, he does possess a relatively high level of skill in taekwondo and boxing, as well as having a fairly advanced level of expertise with firearms and explosives. In particular he is ingenious with C4, which many experts consider to be outdated. He also possesses a high level of intelligence.
