History
Dennis Sayles was raised in the suburbs of Massachusetts. He is a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant and grew up with a certain sense of entitlement and privilege. His academic record was good, but not particularly remarkable. He was well-liked by others, polite and respectful, good at sports (especially baseball) and exhibited an interest in politics and criminal justice.
However, a latent mutant ability manifested itself in his late teens. Dennis quickly alienated his best friend, his girlfriend, his parents, and even engaged in a minor scuffle with the police as he struggled with his emerging abilities. Having always regarded mutants with some suspicion, Dennis was aghast to find that he himself was one. After fleeing from his home and the local authorities, Dennis was contacted by Doctor Carolina Mitchell and offered a place in the X-pelled Mutant Academy.
Beth Savage was disgusted to find out that Dennis was a mutant, and broke off their romance. However, Beth developed super-human abilities of her own shortly thereafter. She blames Dennis for 'infecting' her, and has sworn to make him pay.
Abilities
Dennis has not yet tested the limits of his mutant ability. He has demonstrated a broad range of psionic talents, including the ability to mentally stun or incapacitate others, limited telepathic and empathic communication, psychic healing, and short range telekinesis (limited to a few feet). Presumably his limits will become more clearly defined as he continues his classes at the Academy.
Notes for Roleplay
Appearance: This person appears to be an adolescent male human, just slightly taller than average, with a slender build. His skin is light with just a hint of a tan, and seems to radiate good health. Hair color is a sandy blonde color, grown a little longer than really fashionable, but well cut and maintained. His face is narrow and sharply defined with high cheekbones and a narrow jaw. Eyes are light blue and clear, and his smile slightly lopsided and disarming.
From his appearance and demeanor, one might place his age in the late teens. His speaking voice is moderately high-pitched for a male and carries easily. Those attentive to his accent would place him as a native of the New England region of the United States. His choice of words and diction suggest substantial attention was given to his education.
History (matter of public record): Dennis Sayles completed two years of high school in a suburban town in Massachusetts before transferring to the X-pelled Mutant Academy in Millennium City, Michigan. His grades were good but not outstanding, and he was involved in school sports (baseball). He was listed as a ‘person of interest’ in a matter involving a suspicious death that was later ruled as a suicide. At the same time, a warrant was issued for his arrest involving an assault on a police officer, but was dropped after he was enrolled in the Academy.
