Background and Origin
Pre-Millennium City
Connor Jensen was born on May 25th to father CJ Jensen, a professional racing motorcycle rider, and mother Kaitlynn Jensen, a community college English professor turned florist. Due to his father's career, Connor was almost entirely raised by his mother. Kaitlynn gave birth again when Connor was 10, the result being his younger sister Heather Jensen. Connor bonded to her almost immediately and the two became very close through their childhood. A few months after Heather's birth, Connor's father was involved in a vicious high-side crash during a race in Italy. The accident shattered several vertebrae and CJ lost the use of his legs, confining him to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. The depression that followed struck a heavy chord in Connor, the embers of a fire inside of him beginning to glow. He pushed himself in school and in his passion for baseball, hoping to bring at least a little light into his father's life again. It would prove to be only half successful. His father adjusted to his new life, but something in him remained missing. Upon graduating high school, Connor received a full ride baseball scholarship for Duke University. Whether spurred on by his father's accident or something else, he grew an interest in medicine and becoming a doctor, which became his chosen major. However, this decision would lead to a major conflict down the line. Senior year of college, Connor began receiving letters from the Millennium City Tigers, a professional baseball team. They had expressed growing interest in drafting him that coming year. Connor had to make a choice. Abandon his goal of becoming a doctor and play pro baseball, or leave baseball behind to study for his doctorate. Realizing he could do more good in a hospital than on the baseball field, he declined the offer and years later, he received his doctorate and his new assignment. A paid internship at Mercy Hospital, Millennium City.
Millennium City
Connor was brought onboard to the severely understaffed hospital with about twelve other interns from various colleges. The new environment and the pressure from the hospital and from himself made him uncharacteristically erratic. Quiet and reserved one moment, wild and impulsive the next. Until about a week in, then something re-ignited the fire that had been doused by his insecurity. Or rather, someone.

Jennifer Tapley, an intern out of Cornell. She was the polar opposite of him in nearly every way. Cold, aloof, and rarely seemed to smile. But Connor felt a warmth somewhere buried deep under the armor that had earned her the nickname of "The Iron Matron". At first, Connor felt he was little more than an annoyance to her, despite how often the two spent time together. However, the more time that passed, he began to see tiny cracks in her armor. A little smirk here, a kind glance there. As her defenses appeared to slowly crumble, the two began to form a bond that would anchor their deepening friendship. She gave him something he didn't realize he was lacking. Security. Her no-nonsense attitude kept him reigned in. When the urges grew inside him, what brought him around was the thought of "Jen would kick my ass if I did something that stupid.". Less a threat than genuine concern over her thoughts of him, the woman who had become his best and only friend. As the years went on and the two became mainstays of Mercy Hospital, the emotions he felt grew deeper the more she let her guard down. The more her defenses fell, the more he fell in response...

His whole life changed yet again his fourth year at Mercy. A patient was brought in, strapped to a gurney in crippling abdominal pain. Upon examination, it appeared a large foreign object was inside his stomach. Connor was quickly called in to perform an emergency removal. Within seconds of the initial incision, a noxious green gas filled the operating room. The surgical crew fled immediately as the room was quarantined. With Connor still inside. Doubled over on the floor, the gas mutated and altered his body, forever endowing him with his current fox-like visage. The gas, it was later found, was an airborne genetic mutagen created by Dr. Moreau. Connor was away from the hospital for several months, many assuming he died in that operating room. In reality, he was hiding himself away in his home, terrified of the possible reactions of his co-workers. He spent those months re-teaching himself how to speak, move around, and, most comically, not sit on his newly formed tail.

Upon his return to the hospital, the staff reacted with shock and disbelief. Connor instinctively drew back in on himself, this time his method of expression came in the form of heavy partying and casual sex. Despite this sudden change in personality, Jen stayed in close contact with him, often serving as his proverbial "wing-woman". This attitude would continue on until yet another drastic shift altered his life, this time in a way that seemed unimaginable.

Overseas

Connor accepted an opportunity to work for Doctors Without Borders in Morocco for a few months, hoping the time away from Millennium City would give him some mental clarity. The small riverside town of about seventy people he and a few other volunteer doctors were aiding was in terrible shape, having been ravaged by a series of vicious sandstorms that had cut them off from the nearest cities and many of the locals were sick, dehydrated, and injured. The time helping the town proved to be just what he needed, as he grew more and more comfortable in his skin as time went on. His medical knowledge and distinctive appearance made him somewhat famous in the area as the "Miracle Fox Doctor". This title bothered him at first, but it grew on him as he heard it used endearingly. The last day before he was to leave for Millennium City, the locals hosted a small celebration to see him off and to thank the group for helping them. The celebration was quickly dispelled as weather warnings came in of a massive monsoon bearing down on the town, with flash floods all but guaranteed to be in its wake. Connor quickly rallied the group into action, trying to load as many of the locals onto their trucks as they could and evacuate. The storm was on them in minutes. Connor stood over the tailgate of the last truck, helping load people inside. The trucks took off as the flooding quickly overran the road around them. As the convoy made a break for high ground, the truck Connor was aboard hit a submerged rock, fishtailing the vehicle to one side and mercilessly throwing Connor from the bed and into the raging torrent of the river below. The impact of the fall forced the air from his lungs as he sunk half-consciously into the current, now lost to the river and an encompassing darkness...

But his story would not end here...

Connor awoke in the dried shore of the flooded river, surrounded by tearful and relieved figures. When the storm had passed, the doctors and the locals had gone back for him, in the hopes of at least finding his body. The part that unsettled the vulpine doctor the most was the revelation that when the other doctors had found him, he was dead. No pulse. No breath. But he was alive, somehow. The next thing that came over Connor was a feeling like an intense fever, his whole body feeling extremely hot. He was brought back to the nearest city, Marrakesh, to rest and recover in hospital. But his fever did not fade. Despite his fever running near 110 degrees, he was completely self-aware and fully functional. After a week, he was released from the hospital and was sent home. The doctors, both at the hospital and the volunteers, completely unable to explain his condition.

Return To Millennium City
Upon Connor's eventual return to Millennium City, he realized that his world had changed. He could see things much farther away than he used to, his hearing grew so sensitive that the sound of distant horns was physically painful, and most painful of all, most of the people he had known had left. The next months were spent inside his home, his condition complicating further. His temperature had only grown, to the point he could put his hand directly on a stove burner without any pain or injury. Worse still, he found that his body never felt entirely settled, as well as being unable to pick up many things without burning them. With medicine unable to explain his condition, he turned to the arcane. Connor paid a visit to the Arcana Library in the hope of finding the cause of his condition. What they found was beyond shocking. He had actually died in that flooded river in Morocco. But something had brought him back. His body was no longer his own, now inhabited by what the sorcerers described as an "astral entity". With some arcane assistance, Connor was able to briefly speak with the entity. It appeared as a young woman that went by the name "Sia", her entire being appearing the deepest azure. She explained that she had been forced onto the terrestrial plain by an outside force and that her mere presence on this plane of existence had caused the sandstorms and mass flooding. In addition, while she was a sentient being, Sia was a limitless font of astral energy. This massive energy source had been what had increased Connor's body heat so much. Her regret and sadness for the damage she had caused was beyond evident, and she had possessed Connor's body to bring him back to life as a kind of penance for what had happened in Morocco and for safety; Not only for herself, but for others as well. Thus, Connor and Sia came to an agreement. She could safely possess his body, and in return, Connor had access to her incredible power. With this newfound knowledge, Connor took the time away from the city to learn how to effectively harness his newfound power. He developed a millimeters thick layer of astral energy to contain the immense heat generated by Sia. Now able to safely come in contact with people, Connor returned to Mercy and began to readjust yet again to a normal life. When not working at the hospital, Connor was honing his abilities, growing stronger and stronger. Though his first opportunity to use his powers came sooner than he would've liked. Jennifer Tapley, who had become Chief of Surgery at Mercy in the time Connor was gone, was in a dangerous situation. Attempts and threats had been made on her life, these culminating in a clash within her home between them and a bloodthirsty mercenary named Malice. Unleashed for the first time, Connor's powers were crude and violent displays of otherwordly force. It was here he discovered his greatest weakness. As the fight went on, the heat inside Connor's body continued to grow and grow until he unleashed one final attack that deterred Malice, crumpling to the ground in pain within seconds of doing so. The heat had been more than his casing could contain and he had begun to burn from the inside out. It was a valuable lesson for him. He would not be able to use his powers to help others without risking his own health or possibly his own life. He was again left with a choice...

Powers

Powers

Astral Energy -His body being home to the extra-dimensional spirit Sia, Connor possesses an infinite well of astral energy he can tap into and manipulate. As well as blasts and waves of energy, the power had vastly increased his strength, speed, endurance, and durability. This immense power came at a terrible price, however. The more power he used, the more the heat inside his body grow. The temperature would eventually grow to be more than his heatproof casing could stand, forcing him to expel heat in other methods, such as steam escaping through his skin, mouth, and nose. But even this could only do so much, as eventually the heat could not be vented fast enough and he would begin to literally melt from the inside out. Connor always runs the risk of overheating and hurting himself, so he seeks to end a fight as quickly as possible.

Personality

Connor is considered to be as suave and gentlemanly as he is snarky and crass. He rarely censors himself around others, speaking his mind plainly. Despite his occasionally confrontational personality, he cares very deeply for those in his life, be they patients or dear friends. Whenever his mind is set on a goal, he refuses to stop or slow down until he accomplishes it. However, this can backfire as he occasionally rushes into situations before thinking them through. During a fight, he acts far more vulgar and impulsive, this behavior almost acting as a form of psychological warfare. He also tends to be a workaholic, especially when something is bothering him. Despite his outward confidence, he is terrified of his power and even in the heat of battle, refuses to completely cut loose for fear of what it would do to others and himself. The drastic shifts and changes of his life have steeled his resolve, as Connor has an absolute refusal to give up, especially when something important is at stake. His mistakes and failures only serve to strengthen him further in his mind, crafting an indomitable will that drives him to fight for what he loves until he has nothing left to give.
