The Prime model of Destroid is the pinnacle of Dr. Destroyer's robotic soldiers. Despite being introduced over three decades ago they remain decades, if not centuries, ahead of the next most advanced robot, something that is unfortunately typical of Destroyer-Tech.

Each Destroid Prime unit is extremely durable, having been designed to combat entire super-teams at once or a single high level super-human1. Their chassis is largely composed of Destrium, Destroyer's own super-metal, molded around a Neutronium skeleton. This creates a body fully capable of shrugging off both multi-ton blows and high powered energy blasts with little more than a scratch. As expected, a Prime also possesses a powerful shield generator to further augment it's survivability. The design of the Prime would seem to herald that of Destroyer's current armor.

Offensively, the Prime unit is equally fearsome, with it's array of energy projectors, mass drivers, and Neutronium forearm blades. The most powerful weapon a Prime is equipped with is the Destroyer Beam mounted in it's chest. If for whatever reason these are not practical, the Prime can simply use it's prodigious strength, which is on par with the strongest of meta-humans.

All of the danger a Prime presents is compounded by the fact that each possesses great artificial intelligence, far beyond that of most machines. The Prime model is fully capable of speech, albeit in a deep, emotionless voice that somehow manages to feel condescending and egotistical.

This particular Prime unit was part of the first series of Primes that Zerstoiten created, and one of the first that he would come to despise. At their creation, the first series was connected to Destroyer's Computer, Sennacherib. At it's activation Sennacherib was hacked by Mechanon which forced Destroyer to clean Sennacherib's systems. He had believed himself successful, but remnants of Mechanon remained in the system, dormant until the Primes were connected. The remnants moved to a few of the Primes and rewrote portions of their code, largely those that forced their loyalty to Destroyer. The now free Prime units bided their time until the Battle of Detroit, where most of the survivors abandoned Destroyer and surrendered to American Law Enforcement.

Unit 38 as it is known has help shed light on a number of mysteries surrounding the Destroyer and his technologies. 38 is extremely useful in the field as well, not only due to it's natural capabilities for combat, but also for it's tactical insights.
