Background

Diabolic was born Edward Donalds in Miami, 1971 to Marian Donalds and an unnamed father. Marian belonged to a coven of witches that resided in Grapeland Heights. She had broken a law within the coven, no single witch should ever engage in marital relationships. However, by enchanting Edward with a aura-deceiving spell, she managed to escape banishment when Edwards was deemed mystically "powerful". In reality, Edward was quite the opposite. As the father wasn't attuned to magic, Edwards was only partially proficient in magic. He was born and as a result, Marian renewed the enchantment year after year, ignorant of the side effects.

Being the only male in the coven, Edward was despised by many of the traditionalist witches. Throughout his teenage years, Marian became obsessed with tutoring Edward in magic. All he ever wanted was to break free of the coven and embrace freedom. Eventually, Edward found a boyfriend. It wasn't easy, with his mother's prying eyes, she could easily sniff them out with a scrying spell. And she did. Edward pleaded with his mother to not harm his lover, but she was too blinded with ambition. With a simple wave of her hand, the boy burst into flames. His first love was gone in a flash. Heartbroken, Edward became more and more receptive to his mother's brainwashing. He grew up to be a power hungry man, wielding forsaken magics and slaughtering anyone who got in the coven's way.

Chancing upon a book in a mage's sanctum within Millennium City, locked within a chest with magical enchantments, Edward couldn't help his curiosity. By opening the book, he couldn't stop reading it. When he reached the end, a flame circled around his body and altered his physical appearance and granted him a new ability, shapeshifting into a dragon. The adrenaline rush brought about by the transfiguration made Edward lose control of himself. Spreading his wings, he flew out of the building, proceeding to rampage around the neighbourhood. His fangs and claws were no match for the MCPD, and eventually he was sedated. The wrong assumption was made when his captors deemed him a mutant when he slipped back into his human form. This miscalculation allowed Edward to quickly escape with a simple teleportation spell.

Back home, Edward found that his murderous frenzy was rather "refreshing". Taking on the name Diabolic and weaving a costume out of mystical components, he returned back to Millennium City with the goal of spreading destruction.

Appearance and Personality

Edward has a slim jaw and probably handsome features. Using magic, he is able to preserve his youthful appearance and is often thought to be 25. Diabolic has an athletic figure, something that he is proud of for his vanity. His primary costume is black and trimmed with purple, the fabric and tailoring done mystically. He usually maintains a regal and elegant front.

Edward used to be gentle and good natured before his mother tried to use him as a leverage. Now severely psychologically damaged by his mother, he has been warped into a demon. He lusts for power and authority, the former holds more importance to him as he firmly believes with power, people will learn to recognise him as a leader.

While power hungry, Edward is plagued with periodic blind rages, courtesy of the dragonic side within him. Once in a while, he will lash out at others, verbally and physically. For the most part, Edward is able to suppress his primal rage with concentration and with the help of magic.

Edward prefers not to engage fights head on. Although this might sound like a coward's action, he simply prefers not to get his hands dirty, often standing on the sidelines with his sorcery.

Powers and Abilities

Sorcery: Diabolic is a proficient practitioner of magic, favoring the school of evocation. He is able to channel fel energy from his hands at his enemies until they wither and die. This fel energy has sigils surrounding it and is of a greenish hue. Flight is achieved by levitating and propelling himself at a fast speed with magical means. In addition to destructive blasts of energy, Diabolic seems to be capable of magical telekinesis and teleportation.

Dragon Form: With a single thought, Diabolic can transform himself into a dragon. He will dissipate into a silhouette resembling a dragon in flight before re-materialising as a dragon. His new form grants him enhanced strength and durability, and a potent fire breath. His spellcasting is disabled whilst in this form and a primal instinct to devour is always lurking around his mind.

Weaknesses

Hands Off: Diabolic requires his hands to be his focal point for magic. By bounding them up with rope, he is unable to gesture the appropriate sign for his sorcery.

Dragon Rage: He tends to lose control in his dragon form and becomes a mindless beast without reason. As such, he prefers to use his dragon form sparingly and for a few minutes at a time.

Only Human: In his human form, he is obviously only a human. He can be killed with conventional methods if he lets his guard down.
