After the fall of the Soviet Union, Efrat's mother, Dariya, used her psionic abilities to manipulate foreigners to be comfortable, but the Ukrainian authorities that were seeking to establish their own collection of metahumans, much like the Soviet Union had, separate from Russia.

Feeling the noose tightening and discovering an unplanned pregnancy from one of her many victims, Dariya Kovalenko enticed a religious Israeli who was visiting Uman - Enosh Elazar, a business tycoon from Tel Aviv.

The con woman enticed Enosh, and persuaded him that the child was his, and he in turn provided for Dariya an escape to Israel.

Efrat was born out of this lie on February 24th, 1994.

Enosh was a religious Jewish man, and Efrat grew on the lap of the faith. The marriage did not last however, and Efrat's parents divorced in late 1999, leaving Efrat to live with her mother and maintaining a secular but Jewish traditional lifestyle.

When Efrat turned 14, she began experiencing her powers for the first time. Though crude, she became strongly aware of her peers feelings and even thoughts, though it was hard for her to explain it as anything other than good intuition.

Her mother noticed this, and revealed to her the nature of the psionic abilities, spending the next two years training her without the knowledge of her father, as many religious people found such abilities to be an aberration.

Efrat learned, after two years training under her mother, of the secret of her birth. Enraged with her, she went against her wishes and during the preliminary process towards the country's mandatory enlistment - she revealed to them her powers.

This has lead to Efrat being directly recruited into the country's Metahuman military unit - Sayeret 19 [Reconnaissance Team 19] - at the age of 18.

Receiving additional training as both a general combat soldier, and as a psionic under the senior mentalist of the team - Ha'Pele [The Wonder]. Efrat received the title of Ha'Dmama [The Silence] for her specialization in concealing troop movements, acting as a cone of silence on the unit's special operations.

Efrat operated with Sayeret 19 for 6 years, having acquired some limited media fame, and considered to be her mentor's successor in the unit.

Perhaps she would've continued to do just that, but during one of her assignments, it was discovered that the terrorist cell she was eavesdropping on brought on their own psionic, who fed her information that later led her and the soldiers assigned with her into a violent ambush.

Efrat managed to escape alone, though not unharmed. Using her telekinetic abilities to puppeteer her mangled body back to friendly lines.

Over the course of the following six months, Efrat underwent multiple surgeries fitting her with rudimentary cybernetic prosthetics, along with intense physiotherapy to get her used to her new 'body'. During this time, Efrat picked up on talk between some of the military guards assigned to her during her time in the hospital.

It seems that despite her injuries, the government deemed it unsuitable to discharge her quite yet. Enraged by this, along with the suffering she's been undergoing, Efrat turned her powers against her comrades to flee the hospital. By the time the Israeli authorities knew where to search, she was in the wind for the next two years.

In early 2021, Efrat turned herself in at the Israeli embassy in South Africa, armed with newer, better prosthetics. While it was not disclosed what went on inside, the self-admission has resulted in Efrat having her Israeli citizenship revoked, leaving her with a passport that was valid for the next six years, to find a new place to call home.

In April of 2022, Efrat has found her way to Millennium City. While the Israeli government has been forthcoming and provided the US Government with Efrat's information when her passport was flagged at the airport, she did not request a sanction, and found herself living out of a cheap motel for the time being, seeking to start out her new life.
