| − | Ernesto was born into a middle class family in Guadalajara, his father a government bureaucrat who worked his way up out of a meager blue collar heritage to a comfortable life. He wanted more for his son and impressed upon him that science and engineering was the real key to the future. Ernesto, a highly imaginative if uncertain boy who had dreams of being a superhero, decided to forge his own destiny and become a police officer - something his family did not approve of. However, with a determination to help the community, he forged on through his required education and training, distinguishing himself for his passion.

He met and married his wife, Elicia, at a mixer hosted by one of his friends on the force. She was a botanist who enjoyed country western music and reading even at sporting events; Ernesto was hooked. They started dating and in several years were married. With a new home, a new wife and a job he could be proud of, things were looking up for him.

All the crime, corruption and lack of support from the government frayed him psychologically. His marriage also was beginning to strain and the subject of bribes started popping up more and more. Reluctantly, he finally caved in - and would feel a certain shame deep down inside. Years went by and he had his ups and downs, but finally, Elicia told him it was over.

| − | The divorce was painful, and on top of that he got caught in a corruption investigation where he agreed to blow the whistle on several of his friends, as his sense of morality took over. He was commended officially, but among his peers he became a stranger. Finally fed up, he quit the force and took to living a recluse as his psyche was sapped almost to the breaking point. Luck, perhaps, led the Federal agents to his door; they were impressed enough with his record on the force that they offered him a chance to be part of a little project - a set of power armor with the best tech they could get, so that Mexico could add another hero to its roster, one born from their lawmen. Ernesto, seeing a chance to continue the fight against evil, agreed.

| − | Vaquero is a flamboyant and exuberant man who always seems to enjoy life as much as possible. He dives headlong into new dangers and challenges and seems to be married to his job as a superhero slash Federal agent of Mexico. Quick with a smile and a laugh and always doing his best to be charming, he is fairly easy to get along with and he does his best to hold no prejudices or carry any sort of grudge. A thrill-seeker, he throws himself into things with a manic energy bordering on the eccentric, and if you ask many of his co-workers, they'll already tell you he IS an eccentric.

He has a deep national pride for his country and particularly for his home city of Guadalajara. The problems Mexico continues to face does weigh heavily on his mind, and at times he feels his efforts are mere drops of water in a vast ocean. His biggest weakness, perhaps, is a fragile ego due to the misfortunes of his past, and he absolutely detests people that look down on him. He always insists that Ernesto Gutierrez is merely a chapter in his past; today he is El Vaquero Tecnologico, and he hopes he will still be that in the future.

| − | Though lacking powers of his own, Vaquero fights crime with a customized power armor resembling the gunslingers of the Westerns he loves so much. The power armor, besides boosting his physical strength, endurance and ability to take hits, is equipped with a shoulder-mounted minigun, a standard model found in most ballistics models. The suit also houses small rockets in the chest cavity as well as twin 9mm submachine gauntlet guns. The armor also houses several throwing lassos to tie up opponents.

| − | As far as external weaponry, Vaquero uses a pair of high-tech revolvers based on the Taurus Raging Bull models, able to store .44, .45 or higher rounds as well as rubber or shock-rounds for less-than-lethal operations. They are stored in a pair of holsters on his belt. Vaquero also carries smoke grenades for quick escapes if recieving too much heat.

| − | On the defensive side, the armor is equipped with an energy shield with an automatic activation system when Vaquero is being fired on; in addition to this, Ernesto has installed a custom kinetic-energy manipulation engine within the suit that gives his bullets and missiles extra punching power, as well as redirecting the kinetic force experienced when physical projectiles or melee weapons strike him, lowering the overall damage taken to the suit. Naturally, it is overall better suited against ballistic or explosive weaponry - high tech energy weapons are his main weak point.
