The Gurazani

The Gurazani are a space-faring, nomadic race of aliens from the far fringes of the galactic core, and as a result, are rarely seen by most known races of the Galaxy, due to their location and their desire to remain secretive. This stems from a tragedy that happened to the race a very long time ago, now enshrined in myth. Few actually know the full details of what exactly happened to their homeworld, but it is undoubtedly gone, as the Gurazani Worldships serve as their main home. These worldships are massive, easily the quarter of a size of a planet, and are technological marvels in and of themselves.

The worldships contain within essentially all that is required to sustain life, including a facsimile of the former environment of their homeworld. Each resource is carefully managed and never wasted, matter recombination technology utilized to allow for a stable ecosystem. Individual members occasionally go off on their own, most commonly the Zari Caste due to their physical capability and their ability for creative thought.

Reproduction is done entirely through the usage of cloning and test tube reproduction, as extensive cybernetic enhancements have rendered the race incapable of sexually reproducing. Caste members do not have any sexual characteristics, as they are deemed unnecessary. Genetic modification serves to distinguish different caste members, and serves to enforce their role within the collective. Those who wish to change caste are allowed to do so at an early stage in their development, but once in a caste, it is impossible to leave it.

Castes

The main castes of the Gurazani are numerous, however, the only ones that would most commonly be encountered by players are the Zari and the Dura Castes.

Castes each have their own special "enlightenment", which is their cultural way of achieving a state similar to Nirvana in Hinduism. Some treat this enlightenment more seriously than others, but those who seek out the Enlightenment more strongly will generally be higher ranked than those who do not.

  • Zari Caste

The Zari Caste are known as the warriors of the Gurazani, and mostly draw from the more physically aligned parts of the Gurazani gene pool. While the vast majority of the Gurazani show no gender dimorphism, the Zari caste does, allowing for two separate sub-classes, so to speak, of Zari Caste.

The female Zari Caste members are lithe, sleek, and tuned for speed in their forms, in addition to being given extensive cybernetic enhancements to improve these traits drastically. As a result, they are very well suited for stealth missions, espionage, assassination, and other clandestine activities, which serves to prevent outsiders from discovering too much about the Gurazani. The female Zari Caste also usually serve as the main "first contact" face of the Gurazani, as they tend to leave the confines of the Worldships more commonly in search of their enlightenment.

The male Zari Caste members are massive, bulky, and aggressively built, tuned entirely towards overpowering strength. Infused with both genetic and cybernetic predispositions towards aggression, they are juggernauts in the truest sense of the word, vicious, violent, and cunning. They are kept in check by mental inhibitors, and can be quite civil when they are active, but at the merest sign of danger, they fly into berserk rages, ripping and tearing threats apart with raw brute power.

The Zari Caste enlightenment is Death. Zari Caste members continually seek out an honorable death by a worthy opponent. They engage these worthy opponents in battle, and if they die, they have gained their enlightenment. If they do not die and win, they gain the honor and glory of victory, and thus they progress further.
