Born in central Norway to a large family, Bo suffered frequent and disturbing episodes of sleep paralysis through most of his childhood. During his first years of college, powers manifested with no immediate explanation.  They were simple at first - starting with glimpses into other people's dreams at night - but soon grew to include physically locating people through those dreams and drawing some sort of energy from the nightmares that his intrusions often caused.

Bo used these powers for years to anonymously gather and distribute information on local criminal organizations, until he got a taste of his own medicine after spying on a particularly well-connected supervillain. She discovered and publicly revealed his true identity, alongside a massively successful smear campaign. The ensuing fallout drove Bo to pack up and leave for the USA, where a hero he'd helped in the past managed to get him a work visa and a place to live until he could get back on his feet.
