Background
Not much is known about how Hyperius came to be, even to herself. When asked she simply says she “evolved this way” and tries to move on to a different subject. Her homeworld, which she’s dubbed Origin, is in an uncharted star system, and she prefers to keep it that way. It is confirmed she is several billion Earth years old, as she’s visited Earth before once during the Jurassic Age, and even then she says she was “already very old.” Hyperius sees herself as an explorer and anthropologist. Because her existence is so unique, she likes to study other races and understand them, in the hopes of understanding herself. She has visited numerous worlds and met various species, some of which have been long extinct even before humans appeared. She does her best not to interfere much, but she has left her mark sometimes. She’s considered a god on seven planets (primitive when she visited), an omen of disaster on two, and is forbidden from entering 3 different star systems by galactic law. On Earth, she presents herself as another hero, and does her best to protect the planet.
Biology
Hyperius is an enigma. She’s an incredibly unique lifeform, and appears to be the only one of her kind. To call her a “her” is actually somewhat incorrect, as she has no real gender, but she choses to appear female on Earth because she thinks it “helps put them at ease.” Hyperius, and all life on Origin, is silicon-based, versus the carbon-based life on Earth and other worlds. As such, the animals and even plants there are natural, organic machines, biologically speaking. Calling Hyperius techno-organic is, to her, a bit of an oversimplification. Her most notable feature is her mind, or actually, her minds. She is classified as a “legion mind,” an entity made of numerous consciousnesses existing in one body, operating by consensus. She speaks in “we” and her voice sounds like several various people speaking at once. While she appears to be metallic, her body is actually flesh, it is just made of metallic elements giving it the properties of metal. Her blood is slightly thicker than human blood, and is a gold color. She survives on the various radiation given off by stars. She says this is how all fauna on Origin operates, but it cannot be confirmed. She does radiate dark energy, and she says that feature is unique to her. Whenever someone asks what she is or how she works, she always says she’s so different, humans can’t really understand her existence.
Personality
Because she exists as a legion mind, Hyperius behaves a bit different than most people. She is often quiet, and tends to speak very plainly and proper. She says her silence is because she’s “forming a consensus” which is her version of thinking. She also says she hates English because it “constantly contradicts itself.” On the surface she appears cold, acting more on logic than emotion, but in truth she’s a deeply empathetic being. She cares for others and wants to protect life as best she can. Those who get to know her well often say she’s like a caring mother at times. Those who oppose her though, say she’s just as cold as she appears.
Powers
Hyperius can control and create dark energy fields, altering gravity. She can use them to lift objects, crush them, push or pull them away, as well as create force fields. They are incredibly powerful, but she can only create fields so large or so strong, as too much puts strain on her, as well as risks the field growing unstable. She uses her power in a variety of ways, but she does have a few basic methods of combat:
Push – She literally pushes a gravity force forward, knocking back anything in its path. It’s her most basic and used attack.
Telekinesis – She creates fields around objects to move them around. The larger or heavier the object, the more difficult it is to control the field.
Press – She applies focused gravitational force, pinning a person to the ground. Can also be used to flatten objects.
Single Point – She creates a dense ball of pure dark energy, which generates its own field and causes objects to orbit it. The size of the ball governs the size of the objects it can lift.
Null Field – A force field she can create which removes the inertia of any moving object that enters it. Her primary defense.
Acceleration – She uses her fields to reduce the mass of an object extremely low, allowing it to accelerate to high speeds. She mainly uses this to fly, and achieve FTL speeds while in space. Using it on a planet limits its ability due to air resistance and the planet’s own field. At best she can hit supersonic for long distance, or for using smaller objects as projectiles for combat. She once tried to make a pencil shoot across Texas at near light speed. It exploded when it hit Mach 1.
Weaknesses
Hyperion doesn't have any super specific weaknesses, like some power or element that renders her useless. Things that can hurt her or she isn't effective against are pretty common or easy to access:
Armor-piercing attacks - Any kind of weapon or projectile made to pierce armor can easily pierce her skin. Smaller caliber bullets and light blades won't do as much damage
Extreme velocity projectiles - Projectiles traveling at high speeds are difficult to stop with her null field and other abilities. High powered sniper bullets are especially effective because of their high speed and low mass.
Energy/No mass attacks - Any kind of energy based weapon or something with no mass, is completely immune to her powers. Things such as ray guns, psionic powers, or magic, can't be effected by her gravity fields.
Exhaustion/Mental strain - Using too much of her energy can lead to exhaustion, and creating too powerful a field puts stress on her mind and body, and can risk the field becoming unstable and failing.
