The Cosmic State
In ages past, long before the dawn of man, light years from Earth in the Milky Way Galaxy rested the heart of civilization. There in the far reaches of space dwelled the Malvan Empire. At their peak the Malvan's reigned as the overlords of the milky way cluster at the far end of the galaxy from earth, and yet though light years away, their influence would ripple on into the current millennium. The Malvan Empire reveled in its advanced technology, up to the point that technology became a way of life for them, the machines so autonomous that they operated and maintained themselves without the assistance of their Malvan creators. This eventually lead to the fall of their empire however. As the techno-progression forward race, would find itself in the thralls of hedonism, living lives of indulgence and debauchery, completely complacent and reliant upon the machines they had created. Not long after this way of life began, the knowledge for such technologies was lost forever. Then a looming threat appeared. One so equally powerful in its technology that the Malvan Empire was forced to defend itself. The Elder Worms and the Malvans fought for millennia before finally the Malvans where able to put an end to the war. In victory they had defeated the greatest enemy of our galaxy, but at the cost of their technology and hold of power in the star cluster.
Following the attack of the Qularr on Millenium City and the recent arrival of the Gadroon on Earth, alongside the whispers of a Roi'nesh invasion, it seems ever more apparent that the next great threat to humanity lies among-st the stars. Project Clockwork, an organization founded to prevent the threat of Mechanon now holds Gateway Station, humanities first defense against extraterrestrial threats in the ever looming possibility of war. Of these threats, none are currently as great or foreboding as the Hzeel. Little is known about this technologically advanced race of aliens that hail from the farther sectors of our star cluster, save for their blue skin, advanced technologies, and pension for war.
