Origins

Erik's family was highly regarded family of magicians in the public eye. They gave to charities, helped fund new education systems, and even ran a small school for teaching people with magic abilities who aspired to put them to use. However, while this was all fine and dandy, what they did in the shadows was contributing to far more nefarious organizations and events.

Now enter Erik Nyren, who was born into this well regarded family and became the younger brother of Dunstan Nyren by five years. Now, since their family was a family of Arcane Magicians, it was destined that they were to both become magicians of some degree of power. However, while Dunstan showed promise in this field of study, their parent's plans for Erik fell apart when they discovered that he was blind, and unable to produce any inkling, or spark of magic.

When Erik reached an age where his parents thought he could handle the stresses of being affected by their sorcery, they tried everything to grant him the ability to use magic; as a family of pure magicians with a member who couldn't use magic would damage their reputation if word every got out. Unfortunately, since the ability to use this strand of sorcery was genetic, nothing worked. They tried teaching him as best they could, to attempting to grant him power using their own sorcery and manipulations, but it was all for naught. Erik was a natural resistor to their sorcery, but he was not completely unaffected by their attempts. Instead of granting him use of a spectrum of abilities and powers, they managed to modify his sight, thus granting him an ability now called "Alignment Sight." His new ability, in a nutshell, allowed him to see the natures and alignments of other organic creatures in a colored overlay over the creature's figure. As a side effect of this new overlay, it turned all organic creatures into light bulbs, allowing Erik to see the environment around creatures for a short distance.

With his new ability, his parents used him as much as possible to their best ability to further their purposes. They trained him in swordsmanship, and sent Erik out on missions to take out enemies of the family, or protect objectives they found worthy. However, as Erik studied the colors that people radiated, he began to decipher patterns and similarities of how these people acted. He began to question his own moralities, and became suspicious of his family's true motives and intentions. He decided to investigate into the truth of his missions to find the bigger picture, and through his actions, he discovered that they were using him to complete missions for VIPER, to help further the goals of the family and the nefarious radical organization.

Now with this knowledge in hand, he chose to abandon his family to hinder their progress, and oppose them wherever he can. Today, he works to undo the wrongs he has inflicted by helping fight criminal activity within the city as much as possible.

Appearance

Erik's everyday wear

Oblivion, or Erik, is an average height, lean, caucasian guy. He has brown hair, and grey eyes because he is blind, although it wouldn't be apparent because of his related sight ability. He likes to wear jeans and plainly colored t-shirts when in public, but when a special occasion appears, he will don a suit with a nice and classy purple bow tie. He is never seen without his sword on his belt, back, or in his hand.

When in costume, he wears his suit of armor which is characterized by various shades of grey and green highlights. He also has scale armor underneath the plates on top. Despite its looks, and weight, the armor is quite comfortable for him to wear and only impairs his agility slightly, mostly because of the light-weight alloy chosen for its construction. In addition, he also has a blindfold when the color overlay of someone is too bright.

Personality

Oblivion is a rather polite, humble, and honorable individual. However, he can come off as rude or irritable when daily meditation is interrupted, or when he is dealing with social issues. Bluntness and direct can be two words to describe him in social situations, as he doesn't sugar coat his words and isn't afraid to attack the problem right away. Sometimes it doesn't always work out, though, with the two parties often leaving with a bitter feeling in the air. In these instances, usually only stout or stubborn individuals are willing to put up with his attitude towards these endeavors.

Relationships

Nyramus- Oblivion's nemesis. Secretly Erik's elder brother, Nyramus took Erik's place when he abandoned them and continues to carry out missions for their family's nefarious goals. He constantly works to make Oblivion's efforts meaningless in the hopes that Oblivion will turn his loyalty back to their family.

Equipment

Heavily Enchanted Armor- One of the main points of his arsenal, Oblivion always has this equipped when out bashing heads together. Its light weight and flexibility allow him to perform some acrobatics and unimpaired movement while also providing him protection at the same time. It is also magic resistant since it is heavily enchanted. It was given to him by his parents before he left them.

"Void"- Void is Oblivion's Katana. It is infused with arcane magic, which reinforces its durability and lets it cut through magic barriers and defenses.

Empty Vials- Vials he keeps on hand in case he needs to sample evidence or to throw a smoke filled vial to act as a get away.

Jellybean Pouch- Hey, some people need a little sugar boost from time to time~♪

Abilities

Blade Adept- Oblivion has trained in swordsmanship for most of his life after the incident, making him a Master Swordsman.

Mystic Insulator- Oblivion was born with a natural resistance to magic. However, it can be overcome if enough power is applied.

Alignment Sight- While Oblivion is technically blind, he sees things in another way. Instead, he can see organic things as they are, except with an overlay in the color of the being's alignment. (True Neutral, Lawful Good, etc.) Each alignment has its own color, and by recognizing these colors, Oblivion can get an idea of what the being's intentions are. While this isn't necessary in some cases, in instances where a criminal or villain is in disguise or putting on an act, they can't betray this sight. Also, in addition to seeing the color overlays, they also act like a light bulb to Oblivion; illuminating their surroundings for him to see the environment around organic entities. He can also see a little of the environment around himself because of this, but the range is only about 3 meters for a humanoid creature. The range of luminescence is often dependent on a creature's size.

The colors are as follow: Purple is Lawful, Blue is Good, Yellow is Chaotic, Red is Evil, White is neutral.

The colors that Oblivion sees may mix to fit the person's alignment. Oblivion will never see a White overlay unless the person is True Neutral.

Oblivion can see the luminescence around corners and other obstacles. He will also be able to see any organic thing within line of sight, as long as they aren't using cloaking technology or manipulating Oblivion's mind to make themselves invisible.

Weaknesses

Blind to Metal- Even though he can see organic creatures, beings who are completely robotic, are elementals, or anything else without blood and organs are completely invisible to Oblivion. The only exception is when they are within the luminescence range of an organic being, including Oblivion's own range.

Sight Gaps- Since he can only see the environment near organic beings and himself, he can't see incoming obstacles until they get within range of himself or someone else.

Grounded- Unable to fly or jump really high, Oblivion is limited to mostly the ground only.

Dark Isolation- In the event that Oblivion is alone with no form of organic life nearby, he is completely blind. Probably not a good idea to send him on a solo stealth mission through air ducts and vents.
