Primus Database Guidelines & Etiquette

The Golden Rule Treat others as you would have them treat you, it’s really that simple.
Be polite! Remember that raw text on the screen is ambiguous and often seems ruder then it is meant to be. Text comes without facial expressions, vocal inflection or body language. Be careful of the words you choose, as what you intended might not be what others perceive, and conversely what you read might not be what the author intended.
Sign and date your posts to talk pages (not articles!). Let people know who is leaving them a message. This is easily done by following your comment with ~~~~
Always work towards an agreement when in dispute. It does no on any good to argue for arguments sake.
Remain civil, even when others are not.
Apologize. There is nothing wrong with apologizing, and it’s often the easiest way to cool off a heated discussion.
Give Praise! People love to hear when you like their stuff, let them know on their Talk pages.
Stop taking it so seriously. No one is going to win the interwebs war. You can easily step out of any argument, close any page, or walk away before it gets out of hand.
Edit with care and respect your fellow players. This goes along with the golden rule, don't edit content that is not your own, and don't vandalize the work of others. Whether you like it or agree with it, someone spent a long time putting effort into their page.
Respect other user's boundaries. If a player asks you to leave reference to their character out of your page, do so. If you object to your character's representation on someone else's page, please contact the page author through their User_talk: page or in-game to request the reference be removed politely; do not make unauthorized edits to other user's articles. If you feel the offending content constitutes intentional harassment directed at you, the player, contact an Administrator to have the situation reviewed.

What the Primus Database Is Not

Primus Database is and online repository collecting original thought and information developed by individual players, there are however several things that Primus Database is not.
Your Soapbox
Primus Database is not a soapbox, a battleground, or a vehicle for propaganda and advertising. This applies to articles, categories, templates, talk page discussions, and user pages. If you do not agree with content another user has posted Primus Database is not the place to air your grievance.
A Manual, guidebook, or textbook
Content presented here is original player content and not considered to be canonical. Likewise no articles should consist of purely canonical information for reference and we urge everyone to provide links to CO-Wiki or Wikia Champions Online Wiki where necessary instead of reproducing official content.
Censored
Primus Database may contain content that some readers consider objectionable or offensive. Anyone reading Primus Database can edit an article and the changes are displayed instantaneously without any checking to ensure appropriateness, so Primus Database cannot guarantee that articles or images are tasteful to all users or adhere to specific social or religious norms or requirements.
Obviously inappropriate content (such as an irrelevant links to a shock site, or obvious defacement of a page) are usually removed immediately. Some items may include objectionable text, or images if they are relevant to the content (such as mature, erotic and adult themed player concepts and accompanying artwork) and do not violate any of our existing policies, or the policies of our hosting provider.
Your Webhost
Primus Database is not a social network such as MySpace or Facebook. Primus Database pages are not:

  • Personal web pages - Each Primus Database member receives their own user page, however these user pages are only to present information relevant to the purpose of Primus Database. Examples of good uses are a collection of links to your various content on Primus Database or game related information. This is not a place to host your own personal website or blog.
  • File Storage area - Please only upload files that are used within your pages or other project pages. Any images uploaded that are not used within articles to enhance that article will be deleted.
