"My husband would bow his head before the filthiest mortal imaginable for the sake of his people. And it is for that reason that I will always protect him even if he doesn't remember his past, or who I am."

Great Demon Queen Rya, formerly Rya the Great Celestial is the current Demon Queen that rules over the nation of Konia, in the place of her husband, Apex Primordial Demon Kon Larum. Initially an enemy of Kon's, due to being a Celestial, and the latter being a Primordial. Rya eventually came to the realization of Kon's true nature as that of a kind pacifist, and slowly established a friendship with the primordial, which grew into an alliance.

Rya served as Kon's "blade", due to her millennia of leadership experience battling Primordials and monsters who threatened the land, establishing balance to the world. As Rya soon discovered Kon's goal to eliminate the history of violence for the Primordial race, the Celestial became Kon's comrade, leading his nation in his stead and combining her military might with his to form the nation of Konia.

Rya watches over Kon's new life as the mortal Constatine Lupin in Millennium City as a dark angel, destroying any who brings her husband in harm's way.

Background

Before Meeting Kon

"I watched the world burn from above. I was no guardian angel to the mortals, but an arbiter to those who corrupted them. But no matter what I did, the sin never stopped. Because that was the nature of balance."

Initially, Rya was a Celestial who held only contempt to beings who were not pure. Due to being a Great Celestial, one of the most ancient cosmic entities of her world, she believed her purpose was to act as the balance, by destroying and eliminating those who she deemed were evil. This included monsters, sin, and Primordial Demons. This view was held by Rya for thousands of years since the conception of time. As such, Rya hated those who were corrupted with sin. According to Rya, if she had met Yeling Mah back before she became Kon's wife, she would have done everything in her power to destroy him, as she would have viewed Yeling as the very personification of sin for murdering his family in exchange for power.

Battling Kon Larum

"You hate me because of the blood that flows in this body. Yet every deed I have ever done has been for the sake of the goodwill for everyone here. This world isn't black and white, Rya. You may have thought that for hundreds of thousands of years, but it isn't too late to realize you need to change. It's never too late to be better."

- Kon Larum

Rya hated Kon for being a Primordial Demon. She believed his presence as an Apex Primordial would shift the balance too far to the side of darkness, and repeatedly mobilized her troops to take him down. As Kon consistently defeated her troops (to his reluctance), Rya grew frustrated and decided to fight Kon herself, only to be defeated brutally. This frustration grew even further as Kon explained to Rya that he had no intention to hurt her, which she had misinterpreted as pity. In a desperate attempt to kill Kon, Rya infected herself with darkness to become more vicious in battle, only to collapse from the incompatibility of the darkness to her body, which was made of Celestial Light. At the same time, a Supreme Primordial Demon, Deno took advantage of Rya's weakened state and slaughtered half of her military forces. Realizing her foolishness, Rya broke down into tears and cursed Kon for being the first being in many millennia to force her to resort to such questionable methods, blaming Kon for the destruction of her people. Kon retaliated angrily and scolded Rya for taking drastic measures to that extent, and told the Celestial that the deaths of her people were her own doing, not his.

This spiral of self destruction went out of control, until Rya attempted to overload her body with darkness to battle Deno. This would only end in disaster as Deno overpowered her. Kon would then save Rya from Deno's clutches where they would regroup to Rya's kingdom, where Kon adamantly stated that Rya's emotional instability was causing her to act outside of her usual rationale. Rya, questionable of Kon's intentions, refused Kon's help, and told the Primordial to prove to her that he was truly on the side of light. Kon responded that he was on neither side, as the only thing he wanted was peace between the factions, having seen enough bloodshed from the families who suffered from the eons of war waged between both sides. Kon followed this up by begging Rya, kneeling before the Celestial and asking her to teach him how to use [Sona], showing Rya that he was capable of Celestial magic despite being a demon. Kon explained that despite knowing Celestial magic, the power draws from his life force instead of his mana, as his mana as a Primordial Demon was tainted with darkness. Kon's kindness was later once again proved as the first thing he did after partially learning [Sona - Legendary Consecration] was to use the immense costs to his life force to revive half of Rya's people from the destruction of Deno, shocking the Celestial.

Rya would eventually enter a critical state from her overexposure to dark mana, and was bedridden for two months. During this time, Rya learned that Kon had spent the two months helping her people rebuild, using his tremendous strength to rescue citizens from fallen debris from when Deno had attacked. Despite all the deeds Kon had done in Rya's absence, Kon insisted that the credit be given to Rya's generals, who felt guilt for being incapable of holding off Deno's onslaught when Rya had collapsed that day. Kon's selflessness would then be passed on by Rya's generals to the Celestial herself, recognizing that despite being a Primordial Demon, Kon had given up the positive reputation he had built day by day to the generals for their sake.

Before leaving, Kon revealed that during the two months Rya was bedridden, he had completed the Sona spell, creating a new version of [Legendary Consecration], known as [Martyr's Consecration], and casted the spell to all of Rya's people, giving them divine protection in Rya's name. The only people who knew about this were Rya's generals, as Rya's people believed it was their queen who had blessed them.

Kon and Rya vs. Deno

"It is in moments of crisis do the most beautiful alliances bring about. An Apex Primordial will always bow to a Supreme Primordial in power. But I will stake my life on it, I will do everything in my power to close that gap."

Kon would leave Rya and her kingdom to battle Deno alone. Due to having casted [Martyr's Consecration] on Rya's people, the Celestial's kingdom did not feel the aftershocks of Kon and Deno's fight. Despite Kon's immense combat prowess, Deno outmatched him due to being a higher evolved Primordial. Beating Kon senseless, Deno began insulting Kon for bringing shame to the Primordials. Deno proceeded to kill Kon four times, bypassing his [Vanir Pentawind] spell and forcing the Apex Primordial to revive four times from death. Deno then continued pummelling Kon's last life, bringing havoc and destruction throughout the realm despite Kon limiting the amount of collateral in their battle.
