At the tail-end of 1993, Rebecca was born to parents Julia and Mark Constantine in Los Angeles. During her childhood, the girl was completely normal in the usual sense of the word. She had long, blonde hair and sky-blue eyes to match her fair, pale complexion. Nothing much of interest happened in this stage of Rebecca's life, as she attended school, got good grades and made a multitude of other friends. This trend continued up until she joined an expeditionary group in her high school, at the age of 15.

The club was funded by the four teachers in charge and involved traveling to other countries known for their history and exploring ancient architecture and uncovering myths. Rebecca loved the expeditions that she and her fellow club-members went on, as they were interesting and allowed her to travel the world at such a young age with good friends. Of course, her parents had a completely different opinion; worried that the caves or ruins their child often ventured into could collapse with the group still inside, or they'd be subject to some ancient disease kept locked up beneath the surface. Because of this, Rebecca decided it would be in her interest not to tell her parents about their latest planned destination - "Monster Island".

They moved through the cave unhindered for what seemed like hours. Eventually, the plain-looking corridor opened into a large chamber. The walls were lined with glowing runes and the center of the room was occupied by what looked like an enormous altar of some variety. On the top of the plinth, there was what could only be described as an egg. Seeing this, Jetset and the UNTIL soldiers ordered that the expedition be called off and that they should all return to their camp by the jet plane to Millennium City. However, as they turned to leave the chamber, they were met with snarling and bright red eyes. The cave obviously hadn't been abandoned and was still owned by this group of Lemurians. At this moment, everything seemed to flash before Rebecca like a strobe light. She felt a heavy, warm force slam her straight in the chest, and she maintained consciousness just long enough to see Jetset being bound by some kind magical energy and dragged off. Then everything went dark.

When she finally roused, it had been two months since the incident. She lay in the intensive care unit at Mercy Hospital, connected to various machines and drips that were keeping her alive. Another thing that Rebecca noticed was that her body had changed dramatically. Her coloration had darkened to an ashen gray, and her entire form was covered in small, smooth, shiny scales. Seeing herself in such a state sent her into a state of panic, and she fought her way out of the cables and machines with no thought other than getting to a mirror. The nurses had her sedated, and when she awoke a few hours later she was much calmer, though it still took quite some time for her to adjust to her new, reptile-like form.

The whole situation perplexed Rebecca, and she wondered what had happened to Jetset, the UNTIL soldiers and the rest of her club. Surely some of them had to of survived to have brought her unconscious body back to Millennium City, but the staff informed her that her body had just been left outside of the hospital building, and nobody had seen who dropped her off. After making a full recovery from her critical state, Rebecca left the hospital and stepped onto the streets of the city with no clue where to go or what to do next. She first considered flying back home to Los Angeles to tell her parents everything that had happened, but she decided against it with her body being as it was. Her next thought was that she could stay in Millennium, where abnormalities like her were more common than average humans. But what would she do for work?

Background

Rebecca Constantine's history is shrouded in mystery, but one thing is certain - she was born as a completely normal human girl.

Fascinated by the name alone, Rebecca and the other students jumped at the chance to be taken on a tour of the island by a lesser-known hero named Jetset. On arrival, Jetset met the group of four adults and seven teenagers, and agreed to backup from a squad of UNTIL soldiers. Jetset mentioned a cave that was previously inhabited by Lemurians that used the space for their mystical rituals, and the group decided that the cave should be their first location. They arrived at the mouth of the cave within an hour or so of walking, and without any interruption or issues from the island's inhabitants.

They moved through the cave unhindered for what seemed like hours. Eventually, the plain-looking corridor opened into a large chamber.
