"I am not an angel. I am human. Do not seperate us, or believe that you cannot change." - Seeker Vritri

An ethereal, beautiful being from an alternate reality wherein humankind evolved into a force of light, Seeker Vritri's compassion and affability towards intelligent life is legendary, as is her sensitivity to cruelty and violence. One of Dr. Destroyer's greatest opponents, she rarely concerns herself with anything but his latest machinations.

Character

Compassionate and serene to an inhuman degree, Vritri is one of the few absolute forces of good in the world. She is a heroine in every sense of the word, though she discourages people from placing her on any kind of pedestal or revering her in any manner. All humility, good-humor and love, Vritri is open and sweet in social settings, to the point of being awkward and off-putting to most. Vritri refuses to kill any sentient life except under the most dire circumstances, and has been known to nearly swoon at the sight of someone eating meat.

Appearance

Like all of her kind, Vritri is very tall and stately. Her features are long and delicate, and she lacks a nose or nostrils. Her skin tone and hair color are completely changeable, thanks to her personal nanite colony (Zi), which inhabits the totality of her form. She prefers ornate and fragile-looking clothing and jewelry, and her armor is designed to be both regal and subtly flattering to her femininity.

Personality

Vritri is quiet, thoughtful, and philosophical by nature. Though she may appear aloof and vacant at a distance, when approached by any she is completely welcoming and open, always very happy to engage in conversation, listen, or otherwise commune with another creature, regardless of intelligence. Her patience is nearly unlimited, except in regards to cruelty or willfully evil behavior, in which case she quickly intercedes and attempts to reverse the behavior by any means, including overwhelming, lethal force.

While she happily engages non-humans, she is inherently distrustful of them, particularly males. When Vritri had initially come to our world, she was far more open and trusting, though several brushes with death (negativity and social barriers can drive her into a catatonic, fatal depression) taught her to behave in a slightly more reserved manner.

For all of her good nature and sweetness, she can be roused to great violence in the presence of evil. Whether the offenders are otherworldly horrors, non-human threats, or even especially vicious humans, Vritri becomes an engine of wrath. She will annihilate without any question, if indeed she judges her enemies irredeemable.

Abilities

Through her technology, Seeker Vritri is able to accomplish incredible heroic feats, having access to a variety of non-lethal attacks, and the ability to both restore life in others and herself as easily and intuitively as any sorcerer. Her signature weapon is her blade, which is generally the symbol of an enemy's demise if she is driven to brandish it.

  • Force/Flight: Through her Zi, she is able to control polarity points in her armor, and interact with magnetic fields in very powerful ways, from firing concussive blasts, to rendering herself immune to Earth's gravity.
  • Regeneration: Her Zi is a steward of her health - a busy, caring colony of sentient nanomachines that knows exactly what her optimal physical status should be. Using molecules both in reserve and in the environment around her, the Zi performs rapid reconstruction of tissue and armor, in addition to acting as a hunter-killer to all invasive pathogens or toxins.
  • Laser Sword: Vritri's blade is a ceremonial, sentimental item that she never uses unless provoked by great evil. It is her only lethal tool, a holdover from her time in her people's military caste - its original purpose was to cut through ship hulls and disable machinery. In terms of make, it is crafted from an alloy that remains solid and durable at thousands of degrees. It is powered by a micro-fusion cell, and is essentially a flaming sword.
  • Healing: An ability she has recently adapted to be used upon homo sapiens, Vritri is able to ask her Zi to perform triage upon the wounded. Even in battle, she can concentrate and assist in directing her Zi towards ailing friends in a revitalizing spray. The nanites rapidly restore the body, even past death, until they run out of energy, at which point they necrotize themselves, and pass through the system as harmless, invisible waste. During the healing process, they can generate great heat - the more resilient the individual, the more swiftly the nanites can work, without fear of incinerating.

Skills

Seeker Vritri has a wide variety of skills, both combative and scholastic. Additionally, she practices a unique form of physical conditioning, similar to yoga, and spends a portion of her time meditating.

  • Zero-G Combat: As a member of the Conservator caste, Vritri was tasked with propelling herself through space in a suit of sleek, specialized armor, landing on hostile vessels with her squad-mates (or alone, depending), and cutting into the hull to enter and disable. Part of her training was practicing orientation and dexterity in zero-gravity environments at very high speeds. On Earth, where she is able to neutralize gravity for herself, her combat style is graceful and highly mobile, allowing her to remain very effective even against much larger opponents.
  • Geneticist: Since her time on Earth, she has taken interest in studying genetic engineering. Using her own technology to aid, she has been able to craft a number of interesting mutagens. One of these is a method of morphing a willing homo sapien into a homo sanctus, drastically altering their physiology and mental state, as well as growing an independent Zi to care for them. It is a permanent transformation, and only one so far has undergone it - Mel.
  • Ascetic: A part of her role as a Seeker has been the pursuit of not only scientific truth, but spiritual and metaphysical truth. Vritri is a master of meditation and mental stillness, making her very much in control of her emotions (compared to the majority of her kind) and even granting her a modest resistance to mental assault.

Weaknesses

For all of her incredible and benevolent power, Vritri is a delicate, fragile creature.

  • Psionic Assault: A truly vicious and powerful psion could disrupt and demoralize Vritri with violent psychic imagery. While she does very well to keep herself centered, by her nature she can wither and die when driven far enough into depression or misery.
  • Powerful Magnetics: Placing Vritri in a chamber that could generate a very powerful magnetic field could rip her Zi from her body. Though the poor creature would be distressed, and try very hard to return to her, it could be held in check by the field, while Vritri chokes on Earth's polluted air, and falls immediately ill from invading pathogens that will wrack her nearly nonexistent immune system, killing her in short order.
  • Cruelty: Vritri can be provoked by cruelty or sociopathic behavior. While this does not hurt her, it can make her angry or upset, rendering her vulnerable and predictable.
  • Terror: Any creature able to produce a sufficient scene of gruesome horror could likely drive Vritri into a fit. Like many of the weaknesses mentioned above, psychological warfare is Vritri's largest Achilles heel.
  • Nanomachines: A nanite swarm programmed to act as a hunter killer against Vritri's own Zi could destroy it - in theory. In reality, our modern nanites are prehistoric in comparison to the Zi. Unleashing a modern hunter-killer swarm against it would be like pitting a flintlock pistol against a modern suit of powered armor. Not only would the invading swarm be crushed, digested, and re-purposed, but any data carried would be assimilated. More elegant nanotech, however, perhaps coming from an alien species as dedicated to the technology as Vritri's, could pose a potential threat to her health and stability.
