Background
Shannon Cavanaugh grew up in Kikelly, Ireland, the daughter of the Adelle and John Cavanaugh. Her magical abilities manifested early in her life but out of fear for her safety with magic, she was not given any spells to practice, and was discoruaged from experimenting with it. When "Strange things happened" she would be instructed to ignore them, and most importantly not to try to influence them.
Adelle Cavanaugh was an accomplished sorceress, and hero herself. Her magic was instrumental to many actions worldwide and upon her death 3 years ago, her last will and testiment directed John to give the magical tomes she had studied from to their only daughter. It was then that Shannon understood the strange things she caused and following the spells directly was able to control them.
Hero Exchange Program
The Hero Exchange Program is an international program centered in Millenium City where students from around the country who are gifted with special powers can come and learn from some of the world's greatest super heroes as well as experience the richness of American Culture. If a candidate's parents are also gifted then two students trade places, where, as in Shannon's case, if they are not, then the student is paired with a childless mentor.
Over time she grew in ability and eventually applied to a hero exchange program sending her to experience American High School and the American hero system all in one trip. Her assigned host family is headed by The Wild Weasel, a scrapper and stealth master past his prime. He has made a business of accepting exchange students and then providing nothing but a roof, and some food, banking the checks from the Champions HQ for himself. His history with various heroes leads them away from investigating, and so far there has been little reason to.
While he has not harmed Shannon in anyway, The Wild Weasel has provided no substansive support either. He keeps to himself, watching day time television, sports, and old movies. Shannon, however has sought out opportunities to make the most of her exchange while she is here. This includes being active at her new school as well as super powered extra curriculars. The school she attends is home to a majority non-super popluation, which suits Shannon well. She herself has no mutations nor gifts beyond her ability to manipulate magic when following an established rote or spell. This makes it easy for her to blend with the other students as she cannot 'slip' and show her abilities.
Time as The Shamrock
Shannon, going by The Shamrock when out in her mask, has done her best to seek out trouble where it needs to be dealt with and do her part to support the other heroes in the city. Banding with other young heroes, she helped form the informal Super Group "The Prodigy" as a place for them to come together and help each other find their own places in the world.
Affiliations
At one time, The Shamrock was affiliated with The Prodigy. However due to contraints from school, and her host family she has opted to return to solo work.
