Shane Mayen is the protagonist of MAYEN, the current First Mate to Valian Dekani "Deka" Price to the Lotuscraft. Specializing in heavy firearms and great swords, Shane is known for his usage of extremely high power weaponry, and the superhuman strength to wield them.

Appearance

Shane is an average height male with long flowing black hair that reaches his shoulders. From relentless training in the gym during his college years, followed with continuous missions with his Captain, Shane possesses a muscular build. His eyes are green, but following the first Yggdrasil operation to install his Toron Cybernetic Implants, his irises turned amber in colour.

Shane is described to have a round face, somewhat childish. However, this innocent appearance is offset by blisters and scarring from his missions. Shane's wrists possess scars from when he had cut himself in his college days. However, these scars are hidden when he wears his fingerless leather gloves.

Shane frequently wears a long Toron coat, which is black with gold trim, black cargo pants, a utility belt, combat boots and a black tank top. Covering his face is a white and gold Toron face mask.

Strapped on his back are his two Harkanon rifles, two large firearms resembling a sniper in appearance, which is white and grey, but with golden trim. In Anti-Aircraft mode, a large white and gold module is slotted in place of the barrel, making it even wider for the high penetrating rounds. In Automatic Machine Gun mode, the barrel is slightly longer but thinner.

Shane also straps, the large great sword, Gram Supra, to his back. A two part blade with golden trim, that extends to Shane's combat boots.

After his first fight with Valian Rinzler Thresh, Shane's left eye was cut, and a large scar runs down the side of his face.

Following a risky and reckless Yggdrasil surgery, Shane's coat is replaced with a more armoured variant trench coat. With white and gold plating at the shoulders, and heavy padding to provide further protection. Additionally, Shane's mask is replaced with a more compact revision, only covering his nose and mouth.

His left eye was removed, and replaced with a cybernetic replacement. The sclera is a dark grey, and the iris is a white-blue, resembling an android eye.

Personality

Due to being extremely introverted, Shane houses a large part of his personality within himself. Most of his feelings are only conveyed to himself in his thoughts, and only his more serious and brooding opinions are ever expressed. This has caused many to see Shane to be aloof, distant, and negative.

However, in reality, Shane is comedically hot tempered and frequently making sarcastic jokes. Responding in an overly exaggerated manner, Shane sees his comrades as unusual, and his surroundings as weird. Despite this, he is very protective to his teammates, willing to do whatever it takes to ensure they are happy.

Shane upholds a strong sense of justice, however, this is often skewed by his hotheaded and reckless habits. An example of this was when Shane decided to confront the three Valians after witnessing them attack a homeless child. Rather than consulting the authorities, Shane severely injured the Valians, and Deka had to cover on his behalf.

Before joining Deka Price, Shane reveals that he strove to become a hero. However, his reasons to becoming a hero was that he did not see any other reason for him to live, than to become one. Holding a grudge against the world, and believing he was born "defective", Shane resented everybody. Holding a tremendous inferiority complex to his old classmate, Troy, Shane's jealously caused him to desperately chase after a heroic life. Shane believes that being a hero is all that he has.

After meeting SHADOW and SHADE, along with seeing what the horrific acts done by his future self, Shane begins to spiral into despair. Believing himself to eventually become a villain instead of a hero, Shane became distraught, horrified, and disappointed.
