TL;DR: A cybernetic mercenary who coordinates other mercenaries and occasionally hits on superheroes.

Also: This is all OOC stuff, guys. It's here for your benefit, not your characters. Drop by for an RP sometime, he'd like to get to know you.

Who Is This Guy?

From the looks of things, he's a run-of-the-mill hooded hoodlum who hangs around in bars and talks quietly in corners when the occasion presents itself. Charismatic and always willing to interact with the people he meets, he seems like a nice guy - maybe even a hero - but he has a sly way about him to suggest he is not entirely a straight shooter..

You see, Shockdrop was initially an Irish actor named Casey. Normal human, normal goals, normal life. His dream was becoming reality. Having been successfully employed at a popular City Center theater and recent fiance to the resident choreographer, he was sure life was going to pan out.

It didn't.

Something went wrong, the theater went up in flames, and many of his friends perished on the day that killed Casey and woke up Shock. He is very guarded about the events that stole his world away, preferring to keep things on the light side and discussions around the nature of his current employment even lighter.

Okay, So What Does He Do?

Well, according to a guy who knows a guy, he runs a mercenary operation called Dirty Deeds, Ltd. Basically, it's like this big hodgepodge of specialty mercs that get together on big jobs and scatter like roaches when the lights come on. You dig?

They struck up about a year and a half ago under the name Dirty Deeds, Inc., but business between the founders got rocky. Word is, even separated they're some of the best specialists on the black market. More recently, there's been a handshake between Hell's Hooligans and Ltd., so I wouldn't be surprised to find them working together on the field.

Anything Else I Should Know?

Well, if the shorthand box to the right didn't satisfy your curiosity, here is the long form version of Shock's abilities and tech. Mostly, this is being provided so that you can build a working plot and understand what he is able to do. This is not so your character can magically appear to kill mine and know exactly how to do it. Play fair, boys and girls.

Natural Strengths

  • 20/20 vision (or thereabouts)
  • Flexible
  • Agile
  • Experienced with a variety of firearms and technical weaponry and computerized gadgets
  • Experienced actor and charmer, most useful in infiltration situations

Technological Strengths

  • Hardware: The cables built into Shock's scalp and spinal cord house a system that syncs his brainwaves and mental will with outside technology. Originally, this system was installed to allow him to control aspects of his armored suit (Such as the opening and closing of his helmet and intercom system) hands-free. He has upgraded it over time, hooking himself up with extended-feature technology such as:

-- Cybernetic Eye: Shock's right eye socket is completely hollowed out and has been replaced with a cybernetic camera eye with a lens capable of zooming in and even seeing through solid objects at a close enough range (10ft or less). Though capable of night vision, he cannot use it with his zoom feature.

On a side note: A seemingly flirtatious wink may be an indication that he has just taken a picture of you.

-- Eye-Phone: The back of the socket controls a communications and mental defense system that allow him to 'instant message' phones, computers, intercoms, and other relay devices with his mind in order to send and receive messages that he can view through the prosthetic eye.

Additionally, this system can blast music or loud, offensive noises into the minds of anyone attempting to hack or telepathically invade his brainwaves.

  • Cybernetic Relays: Shock's nervous system is lined with a wired tube-like network which allows for seamless transport of nanites through his body without gumming up his bloodstream with tiny machines. Reading signals from his human nerves, the system sends orders to his nanites according to where he has been injured and how severe his injury is.These wires are visible as a pale green network just under his flesh and pulses with a yellow light whenever signals are sent through them.

  • Nanites: Microscopic non-sentient robots which reside largely in a mass at the top of his head and behind his eyes, concentrating around his brain and, in smaller portions, his joints. The stronger the concentration of bots, the darker his skin tone in that particular area. The machines are dispatched whenever Shock is in need of physical repair and can perform the following tasks:

-- Healing: A team of nanites works together to stitch together flesh and chew up shrapnel into tiny pieces (These pieces are then deposited into his stomach, welded together in one mass and later removed by surgery or a painful vomiting session depending on circumstances. Gross.)

-- Protective field: If a wound is severe, a team of nanites can emit a protective energy force field over the surface of a wound to act as a scab while other bots attempt to close it. This prevents severe blood loss and can be used when there are not enough bots left in his system to heal him.

  • Shock Absorbers: So that's where the name comes from! Shock's body is riddled with the damn things. His legs and arms are designed to drop, not to mention the segmented rig built right into his spine. A thoroughly painful process, the installation of this and his cybernetic relays required months of surgery and a will of steel. With the aid of these shock-dispersing wonders, he has developed inhuman techniques of getting from place to place that sometimes literally involve jumping off of buildings. Combined with the healing effects of his nanomachines, he will sometimes take leaps stronger than his absorbers can handle, in some cases even breaking his own ankles in the process of escaping.

  • Armored Suit: A Kevlar, leather, and steel-accented bit of nastiness with a Questionite-laced spike at the top of its accompanying helmet. The body and limbs of the suit are scalloped and though it is considered armored, it is not a power suit. Any metal used in its design is minimal with exception to the underlying metal shell used to craft the majority of the helmet's shape. It can perform the following functions:

-- Jetpack: This hooks onto the back of the suit. It is controlled by Shock's mental hardware and has a limited amount of fuel.

-- R.A.D. Tactical Sphere: A retractable transportation attachment for the spine of the suit. It can extend into a sphere of charged energy and allow Shock to roll quickly across hostile terrain while maintaining his balance in the nature of a gyroscope. It cannot be equipped if he is already wearing the jetpack and is not bulletproof.

-- Tactical Helmet: In addition to being able to open and close, his visor can display the date, time, and use some of the same features as his prosthetic eye, allowing him zoom or night vision in both eyes at once. Curiously, it can also alter his voice, capable of simple pitch shifts or, if he has invested the time to install a custom filter, the voices of other people. This feature is used primarily on the field in order to keep his unmasked identity something of a secret from the authorities (and even some of his employers).

-- Shock to the System: A combination of effort from his suit's energy reserves, his own hardware, and the bio-mechanical power stored by his nanites, Shockdrop is able to discharge a massive, high-voltage shock wave of electricity with a diameter of roughly 12 feet. This can be amplified significantly if the charge is let loose in rain, water, or other conductive mediums. The stronger the shock, the less likely it is that the merc will be able to fight afterward. This is a last stand attack capable of knocking him out, flat-lining his electronic systems, and completely draining him of physical energy.

Weapons

  • A set of revolvers, glocks, or whatever other type of hand gun tickles his fancy for a particular mission. Not fond of sniper rifles or archery, but willing to learn.
  • A set of back-mounted swords, usually re-painted for stealth or crafted from darker metals.
  • Grenades are fun, but usually only used if found during the course of a mission. Same goes for assault or siege weapons.

Weaknesses

  • Electro-magnetic pulse weaponry (EMP) - Capable of knocking his systems offline and blinding his right eye.
  • Hacking - While difficult, it is not impossible to hack into Shock's systems. Because his limbs are not cyberized, he cannot be cybernetically controlled, but his nanites can be reprogrammed to attack him or shut him down with a data overload to his eye socket processor.
  • Big muscles - Shock is a fairly thin guy. If grabbed and smashed around, it won't come as a big surprise if he's knocked out
  • Sorcery - He has a strong and determined will, but no special defenses against the dark arts or voodoo.
  • Chemicals/Infection - He drinks his Ovaltine, but remains susceptible to colds, flus, sedatives, freaky science fiction darts, and other invasive chemicals and germs.
  • Rage - Usually cool-headed in battle and keeps to himself. Personal information can, however, be used to send him into an enraged stupor if you manage to get your hands on any.
  • Average to below-average hearing - If he can't see you, odds are he won't hear you coming either.
  • Only human - Drowning, suffocation, electrocution, combustion, skewering, soul-removal, blood-loss, and other such ailments will kill him as quickly as anyone else if his nanites aren't given enough time to aid him.
