It all started years ago, back when i was just a little kid. I grew up in Jersey City, living with my dad Jack, my mother Daisy and my older brother Jack Jr. or as I call him Jackie. Now, as a kid, I wasn't the smartest in class or a bully or jock, heck, I wasn't even a geek. In fact, I was pretty much a loner. Not the cool kind of loner, no, I was just unnoticed. It was kinda funny, when you think I about it. Even for a kid, I was mad short, but not even the bullies seemed to give me any attention. Luckily, I did have one friend, though. Martin.

Now, Martin was a bit of a loner too, but for completely different reasons. Ya' see, Martin was a bit more... Feminine, than most boys. And he was the bullies target "numero uno". So one day, when we were like 10 or 11, a bunch of 8th graders pass me and Martin up on our way home from school. As usual, they throw every insult in the book at Martin (not even aknowledging me, of course) and all we could do was just stand their and take it. But then, Martin did something I hadn't imagined in a million years. He yelled at them, calling them "A-Holes" and telling them to shut up. Next thing I know, they're all over Martin, pounding on him like piece of meat. And I... I just ran. I had never been so terrified in my entire life and no matter how much I wanted to help my friend, I just couldn't do it.

An old school-kinda cop and he believed the best way to deal with things, was with confrontation. He also hated Capes, saying they were just a bunch of freaks, stealing the jobs of hardworking americans and had no right to go out dressed up and fighting criminals. Back then, he was my hero. A few days later, my class got the announcement that Martin had transfered to a different school and that we wouldn't be seeing him anymore. I had tried to call him over the last couple of days, but he didn't even want to speak with me. And even after those terrible news, more awaited me when I came home from school that day. Now, at the time, I actually thought that it was my fault and that he had left because of his dissapointment in me. Yeah, I know, childish and egocentric, but hey, I was just a kid. Alright, here comes the good part! So a few years later (I was like 16), I'm just getting up from bed, to go hang out with a few new friends. It was the weekend, so I had slept in and I'm standing in the bathroom, brushing my teeth, barely awake, when suddenly, the toothbrush seems a little smaller and my PJ's a little tighter. I look in the the mirror and,to my surprise, I'm like a 2 feet taller than usual. After thinking I might have hit a weird, natural growth spurt, I realise that I have more control of the growing and shrinking and that I might be a mutant. Now, I was still thinking that my dad was a hero and that everything he taught me was true. So I freaked out. I dind't want to be a superhuman, like the ones he hated.

At first, I tried to keep it a secret, but with time, my powers developed and I became more and more scared of what I could do. I was mad strong and my skin was like steel. I reacted to things with crazy speed and could run as fast as car. And though it had certain consequenses to my wardrope I could grow to a good 10 feet and shrink down to a single one. I decided to tell my mom. But as I steered towards the point of the conversation, she dropped a bombshell on me. She told me that, what I thought I knew about my dad, was a lie. He was a terrible cop and a terrible husband. The day he had left us, he had showed up to work drunk and insulted the Police Commissioner for letting Capes help people, when that was "his" job. Immedietly fired, he had walked home, screaming at my mom and hit her, before packing a suitcase and leaving for good. Suddenly, the feeling of everlasting guilt dissappeared from my shoulders. My dad was just a jealous, good-for-nothing ass!
