Kristen's Homeland Homeland is a subdomain landmass of fae called Sererial, lore wise the Lands of Fae and Babylon, the heavens and hells are every growing, getting bigger, and bigger more "domains, Districts realms" forming with age (Mystic World, and Champions world wide book). Infact of the four realms Babylon is growing the fastest most crazy, but the others are Growing well and True. Sererial is one such subdomain, that in time has grown more realms to it's east and west. To get there as said, head to the lands of the Celtic Godlings the protofae Tuatha, or the Fae of modern era "Pantheon" Realms in Fae, and go south, till you hit the mountains and over the mountains, and one will arrive in the central land mass of Sererial to get to the rest.
Sererial and It's Lands are some of the first to congeal out of the aether. Unlike the Proper Fae mainland, run by those "Gentry like" Creatures falsely dubbed "Elves" that serve a story narrative whim, the natives of these land masses are an advanced form of tribal like ascetic fantasy creatures known as the Belkins. The Other Races, Elves, man, Dwarf and all come from migrants and the like from either Faelands proper or migrants fleeing what ever ills on earth.
Her Family comes from one of the nations on the "West" shore of the landmass, where they ruled the west coast of their landmass for near a thousand years, a recent change of politics, due to super heroes mucking in the affairs drove her nation and family, in a mass exodus to sail westward to settle and colonize a series of islands, her Emperor father now called the "Sea King"
Kristen's father was a male born in Denmark in the city of Aarus in Eight hundred and Fifty AD, the height of the Viking era. Though what set him apart is historical the problem of Danegeld, Paying the Danish vikings did not often end hostilities. Sigmund was a rampart imperialistic minded viking, but perhaps more civilized than his kin, he felt once a nation was paying a tributary there was no reason to further victimize or terrorize it as long as it paid it's taxes. This Set him apart from his peers, and over time the young viking took a dive into Alchemy. By the Time Sigmund was some Fifty years old, as a man of some power he was respected and in good condition, when he discovered the possibility of an elixir of immortality, his quest for it lead him into the mystic lands and eventually to Fae, and Southward to Sererial. At the age of some Fifty Six, Sigmund discovered an elixir that halted his aging, and gave him the fitness and vitality of his youth, despite his age. In his travels of Sererial he heard tale of a cursed land no man would dare settle as every few years the river turned black with cursed fluid. Sigmund being an Alchemist and studied man didn't believe it and went to investigate. What he found was a particular strain of Algae native to the river, that being an alchemist he could quite handily weaponize for all manners of affairs, From weapons to accents of metal work to medicine. Using his newfound invention Sigmund gathered up an army of sell swords and vagrants, and founded his kingdom. A Few Decades of expansion eventually lead to more established kingdoms responding to the upstart, and creating a form of battle line that separated Sigmund's land from the rest.
