The twin daughters of the superheroes Cyclone and Fighting American III, Star and Ace are the heirs to a heroic legacy dating back all to World War One. Trained from early childhood to join the fight for justice, the girls are now old enough to work on their own. Now free from parental supervision they are eager to prove themselves worthy of the family tights.

Appearance & Personality

Though Ace and Star are twin sisters, they differ slightly in appearance.
Star stands a few inches taller than her sister and appears more muscular. Her eyes are a vivid green and her long brown hair is always carefully put into an high bun or ponytail. Her attention to personal grooming and makeup is notable, she just doesn't seem the sort to let a hair get out of place.
Zoe is a social, outgoing and friendly young lady. Always eager to help out where she can and make a new friend. She has a tendency to gab or ramble when given the opportunity. She spends much of her free time helping to maintain the website Heropediadotcom, an online encyclopedia dedicated to superhuman culture. Zoe is always ready to offer up a factoid from her near endless supply of worthless trivia.
Ace, though a little smaller than her sister is a healthy subject in her own right. Her body developed to suit her abilities, staying slender and agile. Maddie's eyes are a hazel color approaching brown and she keeps her blonde hair short and styled in a 'messy' fashion. In contrast to her sister, Ace wears little makeup and though she tries to stay neat, it's clear she doesn't obsess over her appearance to the degree that Star does.
Maddie prefers to keep to herself, reading or practicing her many hobbies. She's initially quiet or distant around new people but opens up significantly around those she feels are trustworthy. Her introversion is often seen by others as hostility or snobbiness, but Maddie simply prefers to speak sparingly and let her actions do the talking for her.
Both of the girls are confident, intelligent and driven to make the best of themselves and their abilities. Seldom are they seen idle or wasting time when not on the job. The girls are highly protective of each other and extremely close, a result of both being born twins and their intrinsically linked abilities. They are quick to leap to the other's defense when they are in peril or being insulted. Internally, both Ace and Star have a long standing competitive streak that tends to manifest as trying to constantly one up each other. This serves to motivate the pair but can also become a problem when they become more focused on beating each other than the task at hand.

Powers, Abilities & Equipment

The source of the twins' powers come from a shared mutant ability to manipulate kinetic energy fields generated by their bodies. Both Star and Ace show very different ways of manifesting their abilities that seems to tie into their personalities and mental limitations. Additionally, they have occasionally show the ability to 'invert' their personal kinetic fields through touch for short periods of time, thus gaining the other's abilities.

Star

  • Super Strength: The theoretical upper limit of Star's strength allows her to lift up to 100 tons (though not easily).
  • Invulnerability: A powerful energy field floats just millimetres from Star's body and protects it from harm.
  • High Speed Gyroscopic Conveyance: Star was never quite able to master running at high speeds but quickly adapted a high-speed maneuver that involved surrounding herself in a 'rolling' kinetic sphere. It looks completely ridiculous.
  • Super-Jumping: Star can divert her field to bolster her leaping abilties, reaching up to 500 ft in the air.
  • Flight?: Both twins have show a potential for flight but neither seem to be able to stabilize the ability for more than a second or two.
  • Martial Arts Training: Trained by her grandfather, the second Fighting American, Star was taught not to rely solely on her strength to defeat her enemies. Even the strongest opponent can have his power turned against him.
  • Uncanny Knowledge of Pop and Hero Culture: Star's diligent efforts and contributions to the heropediadotcom website have earned her access to the site's most secret databases and rumor mills. She's privy to all manner of gossip (which may or may not be true) about the secret lives of superheroes from around the world.
  • First Aid Training: Zoe has taken multiple first aid and medical courses in order to be able to treat injuries and wounds or stabilize casualties before paramedics arrive.
  • AAA Youth Girls Minor League Baseball: Zoe has played baseball since the age of six, she took quickly to the sport and has added her batting and throwing abilities to her superheroic repertoire to great effect.
  • Equipment:
    • High Resistance Uniform
    • Smart Phone
    • Rebreather
    • Plastic Restraints

Ace

  • Superspeed: Ace's field manipulations manifest primarily through her incredible speed, she clocks in at just over 500 mph (though she's been warned repeatedly of the dangers of hitting such speeds in populated areas).
  • Enhanced Strength: Ace can lift up to 800 lbs but it seems to strain her kinetic field.
  • Peak Human Health and Athleticism: Ace is in top health and exercises every day to maintain her level of fitness. She is a perfect example of clean living.
  • Phasing: Maddie has displayed the ability to shift her molecules out of phase, allowing her to pass through solid objects or vice versa. She uses this to great effect to avoid attacks, though this particular stunt requires her full concentration.
  • Low Level Kinetic: Ace has a low level ability to alter the direction and speed of fast moving objects in mid-flight.
  • Weather Manipulation: Maddie has possibly inherited the abilities of her father, the superhero Cyclone. She has unwittingly generated small amounts of lightning and gusts of winds when under duress.
  • Crime Scene Investigations: Taught proper crime scene procedure and evidence handling by her superiors in the Top Ten, Ace is adept at securing a location to extract clues. Her keen eye and attention to detail make her an ideal investigator.
  • Law Enforcement Training: Ace has received training on how properly subdue, detain and arrest a suspect. In addition, she has taken several low level crisis management and victim outreach courses in order to better deal with the victims of crimes in times of distress.
  • Computer Sciences and Mechanical Engineering: Ace is very interested in building small machines and gadgets to enhance her life as a crimefighter. These range from her custom built smoke grenades to a home-made grappling hook. She is also interested in computer programming, slowly working up to building her own robot to bring to local competitions.
  • Physics and Chemistry: Ace's research into her own abilities led to her interest in physics, both to better understand the power she wields and to learn a few tricks. Her interest in chemistry came along as a natural result of her other interests. There was just too many useful things to be done not to learn Chemistry as well.
  • Equipment:
    • High Resistance Uniform
    • Smart Phone
    • Rebreather
    • Plastic Restraints
    • Lock Release Gun
    • Throwing Stars
    • Smoke Pellets
    • Gas Mask

History

Early Life

The twins were born after the stroke of midnight on January 1st, 1997 to celebration from their parents superteam, The Top Ten. The children were seen as the continuation of a legacy started by Fighting Joe Perkins, a famous pilot and adventurer from New York during the first and second world wars. Though his fight ended in the skies over Germany, his children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren continued to uphold his ideals. His great grand-daughter, Christine Perkins took her place as the third Fighting American during the late 80s. Along the way she saw the good and the bad in humanity, travelled to distant worlds, unravelled age old mysteries, made lifelong friends and even fell in love with her teammate, Oliver Holt, the superhero known as Cyclone.

It was only a few months after their birth that a routine health checkup revealed both of the girls had active mutant markers in their genes. Oliver himself had grown up a mutant during much harsher times and he knew the road ahead would be rough for his children. The heroic couple remained semi-retired while they raised the girls, staying on the Top Ten's backup roster so they could properly monitor and teach their twins to master their abilities.

The Top Ten

It took years of tough love and training but at least the girls were ready to join a larger world. On the twins' fourteenth birthday, the entire family returned to the Top Ten as active members. The twins learned the final ropes of the crimefighting life from some of the best in the world. Pleased with how the girls were developing, their parents gave them more and more freedom and autonomy. After a final summer spent with the Top Ten in Colorado, the twins were allowed to attend school at and aid the city of Millennium City with their Grandpa Joe as their chaperone.

Millennium City

The twins have finally made it to the big time now. What new adventures and challenges lie ahead for them in the shining city of the future?

Allies

  • Young Renegades: WIP
  • The Top Ten: The Twins' original team, the twins and their parents are both members in good standing with the organization. They'll return to the Shadow Mountain Base in Colorado on occassion to use the team's resources when a case has gone beyond them or just to spend time with the people who have become extended family to them.
  • Ahead Labs: Owned and operated by the famous scientist, Dr. Kurashima. Ahead Labs has been a partner and friend to the Top Ten for several years. AHL's SMASH labs in San Francisco run annual tests on the girls to ensure their health and the safe developement of their abilities. A task that Dr. K and his son oversee personally.
  • Dyna-Boy: The android son of Dr. Kurashima, though constructed a few years after their birth, Daitaro has grown up alongside the twins and has always been a loyal friend and ally. The twins consider him their lifelong pal and a total cutie.
  • Doctor Sigma & Galatea:Former Top Ten members, Doctor Sigma was the Twins' Grand Uncle and Godfather. They were deeply disturbed by his death and the mysterious circumstances that surrounded it. They have attempted to stay in contact with Sigma's prize creation, the android superheroine Galatea, who remains communicative but distant.
  • The Utopians: A team founded in part by Doctor Sigma, the girls stay in contact with Genome and Professor How regarding their health, as well as to consult their vast scientific knowledge.
