Background

Prelude

In 2010, Professor Takahata Gomra's work on improving defensive and offensive capabilities for Japanese law enforcement was stolen by the criminal group known as The Clan. Gomra was devastated at first, but decided to work on it again, except to give to people he could trust and have them become heroes! It was a solid plan to him. But while he was working, two students, Okada Hiromasa and Kondo Etsu (Tatakai Pink) on their way home from school, noticed strange noises coming from his lab, and decided to not-so-silently investigate, happening upon him designing five suits of differently bright colored suits and weaponry for the suits. He would look over and attempted to excuse himself, saying that they were halloween costumes. Of course, Hiro wasn't convinced and the professor was forced to explain himself. After explaining his story, Hiro expressed his condolences and pledged he would help recover his stolen technology. Takahata was taken aback by the sudden offer, he wasn't quite sure if he could trust a teenager with such capabilities...

Before he could decline his offer, Etsu moved to the doorway, explaining she would grab three friends of theirs to fill in the suits. Takahata and Hiro tried to stop her but she had already left out of sight. The professor didn't seem quite happy that his work was going to be entrusted with a bunch of students, but thankfully the suits had an artificial intelligence hooked up to each of them...which was that big humming generator in the corner of the room. Etsu then returned with Ito Gai, Ishida Akio, and Imai Hideki. Together, they would form the Tatakairengers and fight the evils of The Clan!

Of course, tensions between Hiro and Gai were obvious, they hadn't been good friends due to differing ideologies, and it didn't help that the woman Gai loved, Murata Aoi, hadn't returned the feelings, instead having feelings for Hiro due to his positive outlooks on life and how much he helped others. This made Gai even more bitter towards Hiro, especially since Hiro was too oblivious and caught up in helping Professor Takahata in reclaiming his stolen work to even notice Aoi loved him! It eventually reached a boiling point...

Betrayal

In 2012, the Tatakairengers, in their biggest fight yet against The Clan, were struggling against the sheer number of warriors they had at their disposal, alongside their leader, The Shogun, who was clad in power armor fashioned after a Samurai warrior. A bystander, Aoi, a friend of the team's civilian alter egos, had rushed over to watch the battle, only to see Tatakai Red and Blue fighting off the enemy as the rest of their teammates had been rendered unconscious. The Shogun had his wrist-mounted cannon aimed at Hiro, ready to end the young hero's career, only for Aoi to jump in and push him out of the way, taking the full force of the cannon's projectile. She went flying down the street until she lost momentum and slowly rolled against the road's surface and fell still.

Gai, rather, Tatakai Blue, had rushed over to her body, leaving Hiro to stare in awe at what had just happened, and to have to try and fend off the rest of the warriors himself, until he was forced to run after Gai, who was cradling Aoi's limp body. Once he had approached, Gai had slowly stood up while Hiro stared at the scene, trying to comprehend what had happened. While the two were alone, the others were taken by The Clan's warriors, and while Hiro looked over and noticed, running over to try and save them, Gai had decided to betray his fellow Ranger, extending his gauntlet's claws and lunging at Hiro and tackling him while he was mid-run, causing the two to tumble before Hiro pushed Gai off of him, standing up and reluctantly getting into a defensive stance. Hiro was forced to watch his friends be taken away as The Clan and Shogun moved out of sight, letting the two heroes fight between themselves.

And so Tatakai Red and Blue fought, amidst the ruined street and bodies of the slowly fading-away Clan soldier bodies, bystanders and law enforcement alike watching the heroes fight one another, unsure as to know who to root for. In the end, Hiro won with a punch that sent Gai flying into the sky and landing elsewhere. The dust settled from the mighty blow and Tatakai Red emerged the victor, slowly walking over to Aoi's body and lifting it up carefully. His head lowered in sadness as he walked over to the EMTs nearby to give her to them for a proper burial. Gai's body was nowhere to be found at his supposed impact point.

Afterwards and the Present

Hiro would eventually return to Takahata's lab, explaining what happened during the fight against The Clan and Shogun, and how Gai had betrayed him in a blind fit of rage. Takahata was distraught that not only were his teammates kidnapped and that Gai had betrayed them, but that once again, The Clan has technology, plus possible agents that would make them unstoppable. Both him and Hiro agreed to move to a safer location due to fear of leaked information.

They unhooked the Combat Artificial Intelligence and grabbed any important things and moved the base into Takahata's basement, which already had a plethora of technological equipment inside. There, it would be dubbed Tatakai HQ, and for the next six years, Hiro would continue fighting crime as Tatakai Red, the Lone Ranger.

Over those six years, Hiro had become quite popular in Tokyo, amassing an online fanbase and his fair share of stalkers. His combat prowess had improved enough that the C.A.I had been uninstalled from his suit and had become refitted as a crime computer for Takahata to use as a way to relay information to Hiro. Hiro has recently visited Millennium City off of a lead that The Clan have started operations there as well, though it may be an excuse to search around for a super group to join up with, or to immerse himself in some American culture here and there...

Appearance

Outside of his Justice Armor, Hiro is what people would generally call an average person. The extra inch or three from his helmet and boots lowers his height to 5'5" and outside of his workplace he's seen in various shirts of differing designs, practically the same pants as most pairs look nearly the same, a signature jacket and some boots. His face is clean-shaven and his hairstyle varies, though at the moment it's of medium-length and messy.

Though, inside of the armor, it's fairly simple. Stylistic helmet, red and white tights, a badge attached to them, white gloves and boots, and of course, the Peace Gauntlet. There's not much else to say.

Personality

Hiromasa, in his teenager years, tended to not hide his personality as Tatakai Red, his charismatic air leaked as both the colorful hero and school student, along with his habits of being kind, willing to put others before him, and being difficult to stray from a path he's chosen to take. Though after Gai's betrayal and Professor Takahada and him moving to a new base location, he decided to change as much as possible about Hiromasa Okada, but still keep the personality he had just for Tatakai Red.

While as Tatakai Red, he acts as he did six years ago, but out of his costume, he acts distant, less charismatic, not so thrilled about going anywhere or doing anything and may even be identified as some sort of NEET. Though this charade tends to fade whenever he's helping somebody or working his part time job.

Skills and Abilities

Outside of the Justice Armor and while not wearing the Peace Gauntlet, Hiromasa is just as strong as a normal human who's trained and exercised to become strong enough to not get thrashed around as easily as he could when he was sixteen.

Inside the armor only, his strength, agility and durability increases. He's able to barely lift up a car, jump 70 or so feet in the air and land without breaking his legs, or his anything, and can tank punches from the likes of a Destroid. Or you know, bullets.

Inside the armor and with his gauntlet on, he can absorb punches from practically anything as long as he can block it with the gauntlet with low to minimal injuries depending on the severity, along with laser blasts, small explosives, and as shown through extensive tests with the Mk.4, make a giant dented hole through a titanium wall with one punch, though multiple would be needed to actually break through.

Gear and Equipment

Equipment

Mk. 4 'Peace Gauntlet' - It's not known how this Gauntlet was developed, but it's proven to be practically invulnerable to all types of attacks that it has endured with little to no signs of structual damage. It has also been proven to be a good weapon when facing against metahuman or non-human enemies, though it works much better as an impromptu shield than anything. It retracts into a small bracer device after a series of button presses. It also tells time and weather.

Mk. 2 'Justice Armor'- The main armor of the Tatakairengers may appear as a simple costume, but it's actually complexly designed. Made out of an alloy weave to simulate cloth and also act as an armor. The helmet also has a headsup display, built-in microphone, and can be sealed to the armor with a built-in oxygen supply that's inside the helmet, which is enough to last 5-7 minutes at best. It also has a small shield that protects against the likes of an explosive device at close range, but then shorts out and self-charges for around 2-10 hours, depending on how destructive the absorbed attack is. Takahata hasn't explained how he's made such a complex piece of clothing.

Been to Japan and or browse websites selling Japanese merchandise? Tatakai Red primarily has toys and collectibles from the latter, including some mint condition Tatakairenger box sets before Tatakai Blue and the others disappeared. He even guest stars in a few fighting games and has at least appeared in one or two commercials.

Tatakai Red primarily operates in Japan, but he has been seen in Millennium City, either to assist other heroes with major threats, follow leads on The Clan and his comrades, or to...get food???
