Youth
Sean Hughes was born to a comfortably middle class family. His innate talent for Mathematics emerged long before any superpowers. By the time he was 14 he was enrolled in his highschool's AP Calculus program, and before gradutation had begun work in Differential Equations and advanced economics. It was at the age of 16 that his ability to manipulate force and energy first began to appear as his body emerged from the final stages of puberty. It is believed that his powers are derived from a rare reccessive genetic mutation, but tests have not confirmed this conclusively.
Because his powers manifested fairly late in life, comparitively speaking, they had little impact on his schooling or early social growth.
College Years
Despite being advanced in Mathematics, Hughes entered college at the age of 18 like any other student. He was immediately taken under the wing of Professor Arnold Nesbit, a brilliant statistician and mathematical philosopher. Nesbit's work crossed the line between cool logic and enlightened ethical discourse. He was also a known gambler and due to his innate abilities was eventually banned from all Detroit Casinos.
While in college, Hughes met the love of his life, one Jennifer Lane. They were wed the same day as their graduation, each with a degree in science. Hughes had majored in applied mathematics, Ms. Lane in zoology. Both were slated to return the following fall for Graduate studies.
Tragedy
That summer, Lane's cystic fibrosis worsened. She was eventually hospitalized and that Christmas succumed to the debilitating disease.
Hughes, returned to his course work that January with a renewed vigor, working countless hours and by March had published with one of the elusive proofs of hyperbolic geometry.
Donning the Mask
The summer after Lane's death, Hughes disappeared for a time, presumably to train himself and his rarely used powers of telekinesis and force manipulation. It was at this time that his hero self, The Harbinger, began to make appearances in the dark alleys and shadows of first Ann Arbor, and then migrating towards Detroit/ Millenium City itself. He was difficult to photograph, often subduing villians, thugs and theives in back alleys and leaving them for the authorities to find. For sometime it was rumored that he was indeed one of several other heroes until he was caught on a parking lot survlience feed.
He did register his identity shortly thereafter, but limits his contacts with police officials.
Present Day
Though aging somewhat, The Harbinger is still an active hero in Millenium City. He has taken to mentoring when possible but also works to keep himself in good shape, mentally and physically. As Sean Hughes he maintains his post teaching jointly at University of Michigan, Deaborn Campus and at Millenium city University.
He has not remarried and at the time of this article has no known romantic partners.
