U.S. Aim is a fledgling superhero who uses a keen eye, a bow and arrows, and technological devices to combat crime. His career is sponsored by the Paragon Project, a non-profit trust group whose goals are to produce sponsor heroes who exhibit high morals and serve as role models to their communities.

Origin

Youth

Douglas Craig is a self-made superhero. Almost as soon as he could walk, Doug was dreaming of soaring through the skies of Millennium City as a super-powered champion. As got older, however, he realized that he'd never be able to have superpowers like a Kinetic, be physically gifted enough to be a Nighthawk, or afford power armor like a Defender, so he went with the only option within his grasp: his father's bow. To say Doug practiced a lot would be a gross understatement. He shot hundreds and hundreds of arrows a day. There were days that he skipped school and shot all day long. He neglected his homework. He missed meals. He would shoot from odd or unique positions: on his back, on his side, running, jumping, falling, in all manner of situations.

His parents, who initially, were against their son's obsession, relented somewhat when Doug told them he was going to get a scholarship for a university archery team. However, when it came time to apply to college, his grades weren't good enough to earn admission.

Shooting Star

Doug stayed at home, working through an online community college to ostensibly try and earn credits to transfer to a university. However, this was just a front to keep his parents appeased; at night he would take to the streets under the guise of Shoooting Star, the superhero moniker he'd devised for himself. He stopped a few petty crimes, and failed to stop a few others, once taking quite a beating when he missed his shot and a pair of vandals were on him before he could nock another arrow.

Doug's fortunes changed when he stumbled onto to a VIPER operative working in a park near city hall. Doug's arrow pinned the operative's arm to a tree, preventing him from arming an explosive device. Shooting Star turned the explosive over to the police, and gained some small measure of notoriety.
