Wayward superhero "Wildfire" has been patrolling the streets of Westside for several years now. Once a lowly gangbanger, Riley Overbeck's life was changed after a confrontation with the legendary Defender set her on the path of redemption.

With notable heroic roles in the Qularr Invasion and Mechanon's Steel Crusade, Wildfire has come into her own as a superpowered crimefighter. Today, she continues to patrol her home turf in Westside, using her powers to help innocents caught in the crossfire of the warring gangs.

She's been on both sides of the law throughout her career, and although one could argue her more questionable acts are "necessary evils", she is nonetheless considered a menace by the MCPD and various media groups around town.

Born with an inherent control over fire, (passed down by her father, a victim of the infamous "Project Sunburst".) Riley is as fiesty and unpredictable as the flames she shoots from her hands. But, even though she may rub people the wrong way, in the end, she always tries to do good by them.

=== Early Life ===

Wildfire's courage in standing up to villainy and oppression has earned her the respect of the superhero community. As such, she is reluctantly considered an ally to the people of Millennium City.
Riley Jay Overbeck had a troubled childhood. Born with the innate ability to control fire, Riley's powers manifested immediately during childbirth, resulting in the death of her mother. Her father, devastated by the loss of his beloved, was a cold and callous man who rarely acknowledged his daughter. At sixteen, Riley was kicked out of her home and forced to live on the streets, turning to crime to sustain herself.

Life in the harsh neighborhoods of Westside was difficult, but Riley managed. Using her powers and wit, she made a living with one of the local gangs, robbing and intimidating the innocent to get her way. The future looked bleak, but hope was not lost for this wayward soul.

=== A Change of Heart ===

Somewhat of a "loose cannon", Riley Jay has found herself on both sides of the law at some point in her life. Born with the ability to expel radioactive energy in the form of intense heat, Riley has only recently begun to use her powers for more than personal gain. Despite having a less-than-stellar reputation with the people of Millennium City, she's started to gain a deal of respect among the superhero community for being there when it counts. Even the famous hero, Defender, has begun to see potential in the wayward firebrand.
During a raid on Harmon Labs, Riley's fellow gangbangers selfishly abandoned her, leaving her face to face with the legendary Defender, who was responding to the attack. Scared, but unwilling to back down, she tackled him head-on, and the two fought briefly. Much to her surprise, Riley gained the upper hand, knocking out Defender and leaving him helpless. Before she could do anything, the roof of the building collapsed on the two, burying them under rubble. After struggling to get free, Riley began her escape, but stopped after realizing what she had done. With a sudden change of heart, Riley pulled Defender out of the rubble and dragged him to safety, sparing his life.

In the aftermath of her battle with Defender, Riley willingly turned herself into the authorities. Horrified by her actions, she was prepared to accept whatever punishment was waiting for her. To her surprise, Riley faced no jail time, instead being sentenced to mandatory community service under the watch of none other than Defender himself. Impressed by her selfless act in saving his life, the leader of the Champions negotiated a lighter sentence with the courts, giving Riley a chance to redeem herself by training to use her powers to fight crime instead of commit it.

For months, Riley trained under Defender's watch, learning to better control her powers and being taught the values of justice and sacrifice. Along the way, she would begin to gain notoriety as a superhero, stopping a few crimes and saving lives during her training. Ultimately, her time with Defender payed off. With a newly acquired taste for heroism, Riley embraced her new life, taking on the persona of "Wildfire", a fast talking, flamethrowing paragon of peace.

Riley's powers are directly affected by her emotional state. As such, she has learned to temper her emotions, giving her a cool and carefree attitude, even in the face of danger. Although her easy demeanor is often mistaken for recklessness, Riley's head is always in the game, ready to tackle any situation directly. In battle, she's known to taunt and tease her enemies, using sarcasm and humor to exploit their fragile egos.

= Appearance =

+
Somewhat of a "late bloomer", Riley is small and petite, a fact she is rather sensitive about. With flaming orange hair, bright green eyes, and a small gap between her teeth, Riley's appearance overall could be considered "scrappy" and tomboyish. Early in her career, she kept her hair short and often dressed in urban street clothing, but lately has gotten in touch with her femininity, growing her hair long and wearing more revealing outfits.

+
All along her arms, Wildfire has mystical tattoos imprinted on her at birth. These markings symbolize her demonic nature as a reincarnated Infernal, and glow a burning orange when she uses her powers.

As a reincarnated Infernal demon, Wildfire can manipulate demonic flames. Her pyrokinetic abilities, paired with an enchanted battle axe makes her a formidable foe. A consequence of these abilities is an above-average body temperature. She can't bear children, and loses carbs and nutrients at a rapid rate, requiring large amounts of sustenance to maintain her energy and overall physical well being.
+

+
Beyond her innate abilities, Wildfire has received extensive training from Defender, who personally helped her become the hero she is today. Her time with the legendary champion has also given her a decent understanding of science and technology, able to put together special enhancements to give herself an edge on the battlefield.

Background

Millennium City isn't quite sure what to make of Riley "Wildfire" Jay. Though she has taken on heroic roles during crisis such as the Qularr Invasion, and Mechanon's Steel Crusade, many still see her as an uncontrollable force of nature.

Wildfire's courage in standing up to villainy and oppression has earned her the respect of the superhero community. As such, she is reluctantly considered an ally to the people of Millennium City.
