Wildfire (Reilly Overbeck) is a young superheroine operating in Millennium City. Once a rookie gangbanger, she went clean after a betrayal by her fellow gang members.

Currently, Wildfire is doing community service as punishment for her crimes, but plans to continue hero work after her debt has been paid.

Biography

Early Life

Reilly grew up in a poor and broken household in the ghettos of Westside. Her mother died giving birth, leaving Reilly with only her distraught and drunk father for parental guidance. Growing up, she learned to fend for herself on the streets, fighting and working hard to survive. It made her tough, but also bitter and resentful for the life she was given.

In her early teen years, Reilly dropped out of school and join one of Westside's many street gangs, hoping to make something of herself. An intimidating enforcer for a group of demon worshipping thugs, Reilly got into all sorts of danger and excitement. She took names, did drugs and brought fear to the streets of Westside like any successful gangbanger would. But it didn't last...

Two Betrayals

Fed up with her mischief, Reilly's father decided he no longer wanted her around. After a long night of partying, Reilly found her things on the front steps and the door to her house locked the next morning. She knew it was over, but wasn't completely heartbroken. With nothing left holding her back, Reilly began losing herself to the gang life. More drugs, more partying, more violence. Especially more violence.

Years of angst and frustration had only made Reilly more brutal, and her fellow gangsters took notice.

She started getting sent on more dangerous, high level missions, everytime coming out victorious. Eventually the gang leader, a vicious satanic cultist, called for a meeting with the young upstart...

It was revealed to Reilly she was being observed even before joining up with the hellish gang, and her quick rise through the ranks confirmed the leader's suspicions that she was special, more than just a wannabe thug. In fact, Reilly wasn't even human.

Before she knew it, Reilly found herself at the center of a satanic ritual set up by her fellow gang members. Tapping into dangerous black magic, the cultists revealed Reilly was in fact a demon reincarnated in human form, and had set out to reawaken the darkness within. They nearly succeeded too, if not for a mole within the group who was feeding information to the authorities. Before the ritual succeeded, the gang was stopped by MCPD with the help of the legendary Champions, bringing the mad cultist and his followers to justice. Only with a reversal spell from the magician Witchcraft was Reilly able to recover from the incident, keeping the demon within at bay.

Aftermath

The ritual stopped and the cultish gang defeated, Reilly was left to answer for her own crimes after her recovery. Due to the nature of her abilities, the court wanted to lock her up in Stronghold, but the one and only Defender came to her aid and argued for a lighter sentence. Having pull with the judge, Defender was able to negotiate punishment in the form of community service, using her newfound abilities to help the city.

Feeling hurt and confused by the events that preceded, Reilly accepted this and immediately went to work to make up for her actions. Under careful observation by Defender and the MCPD, she began her sentence and superheroic career cleaning up the gang violence in Westside left over from the cultist's removal from the streets. New groups such as the Maniacs and the Red Banner were fighting for control over the empty territory, which meant new opportunities for fresh capes to get their feet wet in crime fighting.

Under the name "Wildfire", Reilly joined the rest of the superhero community to fight evil and defend the peace.

Rise of the Enemy

Westside Intrigue

It didn't take long before the makeshift alliance between the New Purple Gang, Maniacs, Red Banner and Cobra Lords were squashed by the heroes of Millennium City, but unfortunately that wasn't the end of Westside's problems.

After the defeat of Hi Pan and the collapse of the four main organizations, new and even more deadly groups sprang up to once again fight over Westside, The Neo Freaks and Purple Punishers being the worst. One lead by cybernetically modified punk rockers and the other by psychopaths too crazy for even the Maniacs. Wildfire had her work cut out for her as the two gangs began sending incursions to the rest of Millennium City, hoping to expand their territory.

On more than one occasion has Wildfire come across the vicious gang leaders, Draysha enhanced Oscar the Freak and near-feral madwoman Princess Punish, making quick enemies out of them. Oscar of the Neo Freaks ran weapons trafficking throughout the city while Princess Punish of the Purple Punishers was the main distributor of dangerous psycho-drugs throughout Westside and Downtown. Both of them had to be stopped.

Time and time again, Wildfire had put a wrench in their plans, but every defeat made them stronger. These new gangs came back harder and harder with each foiled plan, almost unnatural for any typical Westside gang. The Champions eventually took notice of this and decided to investigate. Eventually, it was discovered these new gangs were being funded by an unknown source, but they couldn't get any further with larger threats loose in the city. At the behest of Defender, Reilly was put in charge of the investigation, having the most experience with the two organizations.
