Biography

Holdouts. After the end of the Second World War there have always been rumours; Japanese soldiers on isolated islands in the Pacific who never got word of the surrender or simply refused to accept it. Die-hard loyalists, men who just kept on fighting.

One case in particular has captured public imagination over the years, usually considered nothing more than a myth, only a few blurred photos to credit his existence. The elusive soldier appears to wear a jetpack built from the remains of a Kamikaze plane and has been linked to numerous attacks and killings; he’s been dubbed the Rising Son, Angel of Death, Last Kamikaze, usually though he’s just known as Wing-Man.

Obviously if he is real ‘Wing-Man’ is too young to have been an actual WWII veteran, theorists suppose that he may have been adopted and raised by a holdout, trained to fight in a war that was over long before he was born. Real or not the legend of Wing-Man has made many ships steer clear of the Yan-Loo stretch of islands.

Oddly in recent years there has been a change in reported sightings of Wing-Man; once he was known to rain death down on anyone flying an allied country flag, now there are reports of him saving lives of drowning sailors or fending off pirate attacks. The soldier may have finally discovered the wars end or come to some philosophical realisation. People are beginning to speculate he’s seeking atonement; some even call him a hero.

The Cargo Priests

(Translated from the remnant of a diary found on the island of Ilunta)

"...couldn't believe it when I first found them. These tribal men had thought themselves to be alone in the world until Japanese soldiers arrived on their islands seventy years ago...didn't see them as men but as gods; flying in giant metal eagles and descending with cargo that must of seemed otherworldy to those untouched by civilisation..."

"...looked upon me as their messiah, fulfiller of prophecy, Wing-Man. But I brought with me no fantastical treasures and spoke only the cold truth to them, one they rejected and soon denounced me as false. That was when I discovered what the soldiers had left on their island all those years ago and looked in horror at what I had unknowingly let loose upon the world.......mass-destruction..."
