Obsessed with immortality and victory over the petty needs of the flesh, the man now known as Overthinker became a genius in the fields of engineering and cybernetics. Thanks to the later erasure of any clues to his former identity, how he funded his projects is a mystery, but what is obvious is that at some point, he achieved his goals, casting off his body like a sullied coat and placing his brain into a vat of greenish life-support fluid that keeps it forever healthy and alive. Linked into the systems of his laboratory, whether by technology or some kind of technopathic mutant power, he became a being of thought, free to pursue his research with no distractions. Ever again.
But seclusion, with little sensation of the outside world beyond pure data, became too much to bear. No, he needed a connection to the world after all. It started simply. Sensors, to replace his lost vision and hearing. Robotic legs, to carry him around. Hands, to manipulate the world he had sought to abandon. And, after a long absence colleagues began snooping around to investigate what happened to him, weapons, to silence them. And then greater weapons, to defend himself. Thoughts turned to improvements. Separate robotic units, so that he wouldn't need to personally risk himself. More weapons, to fend off growing threats. An armored body, when it became necessary to abandon his lab to the heroes and police that had begun to lay siege to it.
And then, in a backup lab, feeling the sting of poverty and lack of resources, his thoughts turned to schemes. Plots. No one would fund a brain in a jar. He would have to take money for himself. Yes, he decided that after a short time trying to make do with scavenged metals and secondhand parts. He would start small, hoard until he could create for himself an unstoppable body, and then he would hit it big. He would plan, he would strategize, every detail would be accounted for. He had the free time, after all. He would become... THE OVERTHINKER!
Threat Assessment
Although relatively low-tier as far as villains go, the threat that Overthinker personally poses should not be underestimated. A string of low-profile crimes has provided the villain with the money to create a truly impressive piece of technology, and further successes have allowed him to continually upgrade it to shore up weaknesses. Now virtually immune to most small arms, fire, and electricity, with computerized reflexes and agility, Overthinker on his own can seem all but unstoppable to many street-level heroes, let alone the MCPD. Were he able to amass an army of automatons greater than he can manage so far, he could conceivably threaten the city!
Armaments
The Overthinker's golden body is loaded with weaponry from top to bottom. His feet are massive claws, and thanks to gyroscopic balance, he can use one foot to rend or grip while remaining relatively stable on the other. Additionally, both feet have plasma jets hidden in the bottom, usable as both extremley-close-range weapons and jump jets - Overthinker's form is too heavy for actual flight. A long, segmented tail with a sharp tip can be used to both press buttons and pierce an opponent like a spear. His waist is a 360-degree swivel, allowing the upper body's weaponry the full field of fire.
The upper body is where the real arsenal is packed. Overthinker's primary weapon is his left arm, which consists of a massive laser minigun and grenade launcher, equipped with several different types of rounds. The right arm has a more conventional hand, but even this has deadly bladed fingers. Although originally this arm also had a simple blaster cannon and piercing blades, it has since been upgraded to instead hold both a flamethrower and a heavy-duty, high-powered plasma charge cannon. This incredibly destructive weapon, thankfully, has very limited ammunition.
Mounted on the body's back is a high-frequency laser cutter on the tip of its own movable arm. A very precise weapon that can aim independently of Overthinker's body, it provides a nasty surprise for heroes trying to sneak up from behind or above. Finally, rising just above the tank holding Overthinker's brain are two shielded pods hiding dual micro-missile launchers. The missiles are homing, but limited in ammunition.
Weaknesses
The glowing green circle on Overthinker's chest may seem like a weak spot, but this is a simple trick. Although it is the generator providing power to the body, it is also the second most-heavily armored spot. Upgrades to the torso to add a more powerful generator have made this "weak spot" even more obvious, but only increased the armor around it. Similarly, the transparent tank holding Overthinker's brain is actually the toughest part of him, virtually indestructible. The real weak spot is what looks like a satellite dish mounted on his back. This is the primary sensor that gives Overthinker his external awareness; although he has backups, they are more basic, and the loss of this sensor can be enough to disorient him. Of course, this piece isn't particularly lightly-armored, either. His other weakness comes from his top-heavy design; although gyroscopically-balanced, enough damage can cause this system to malfunction, making him easier to topple over. Additionally, if one has something actually able to cut through his armor, his limbs are the thinnest parts of him and could possibly be severed, reducing his threat.
Minions
Overthinker is often coming up with new, specialized units for his army, but he lacks the resources to actually 'build' most of them. Listed below are the observed units. It should be noted that Overthinker's "army" is small; it's estimated that at any given time, he has fewer than fifty, possibly fewer than thirty, active robots.
