Jekyll: You reckless lunatic! Dragging your face through something that would have one-shotted Aaron? How little regard do you have for your own health?!

Bryce: I'll break as many bones as I have to as long as some of them are yours, asshole.

- Bryce battling Jekyll on Aaron's behalf in Beyond the Gods II

Tyrell "Bryce" Jackson Jones is a High Tier S+ Ranked Auxiliary Shadow of the Black Legion Organization, reporting to Aaron Hope. Bryce operates under the codename Hellsing, and is among one of the strongest Auxiliary Shadows in the entire organization.

As the biological son of the late gang member Tevin "The Machine Gun" Jones and Eliza Hellsing, Bryce is half human and half vampire, his vampire side coming from his mother, who is revealed to be the original bride of the legendary Count Dracula, the strongest Vampire in history.

A dedicated patriot in his version of Philadelphia, Bryce went by the nickname The Hero of Philadelphia, due to his involvement in the violent protests against the government, who oppressed his people. Though Bryce suffered severe controversy and backlash due to his violent actions which caused the rift to grow even deeper between law enforcement and his people, Bryce returned to Philadelphia to fight off his mother, Eliza Hellsing, working alongside the people of Philadelphia to protect their hometown. Following Bryce's victory against the vampires, Bryce's relationship with his fellow Philadelphians was restored, and became known as The Champion of Philadelphia.

Appearance

Bryce's usual high school attire

" Sarah: You're actually not that bad looking, in my opinion.
Bryce: That's what I've been saying! Why haven't I gotten laid yet?!
Sarah: That's... probably why.
"

Bryce is a tall slender young man of mixed descent, as he is technically half Scottish and half African-American. However, his appearance bears a striking similarity to his father, Tevin Jones. Bryce possesses shoulder-length dreadlocks which fray outwards in an unkempt manner, and occasionally wears a pair of earrings. Sometimes, Bryce also wears clips on his dreadlocks. Bryce inherited his mother's green eyes, which sometimes transition to blood-red whenever he channels his vampiric powers.

When attending school and most of his casual life, Bryce is almost always seen wearing a green jacket of varying designs with a red scarf. During missions, Bryce wears a Philadelphia Eagles varsity jacket along with a red hoodie but may swap the hoodie out for a scarf depending on the occasion.

During his final battle against his mother and their vampiric brethren, Bryce took his father's scarf and wore it like a bandanna. Following the events of the battle, Bryce is seen with a large bat strapped to his back. The bat was revealed to represent the warriors of Philadelphia, decorated with the signatures of the people who fought alongside Bryce in their desperate battle to protect the town from the vampires.

At the start of He Saves Gods as a Man II, Bryce is seen wearing a black Victorian Era cloak on top of his varsity jacket, however, the cloak was abandoned as it served no functional purpose aside from, in Bryce's words, "adding rizz".

As expected from his vampiric physiology, Bryce's teeth has been seen to transition to fangs, however, Bryce rarely shows these fangs unless in combat or for intimidation, as seen when Bryce threatened to bite Robbie Fernandez for "snitching on the boys" during his and Aaron's voyeurism of Outer Shadow Vicki Harriet.

Following his twenty-year time skip, Bryce's appearance changes drastically, becoming significantly more muscular and taller. Of all the Shadows in Aaron's cohort, Bryce had become the most well-built, his physique contending with the likes of Inner Shadow Jay "Slipstream" Hellion, a seasoned military Sergeant.

Personality

Bryce angrily refuses Aaron's help in fighting Rya

"Who said you get to nap?
I'M the one who puts you to sleep!
"

- Bryce Jones vs. Rya the Lightgiver

Bryce is notoriously hotblooded, reckless, and bold in the way he presents himself. Of all the Auxiliary Shadows under Aaron's command, Bryce is considered the most wild, due to his overconfidence in his abilities as well as his self-image. Having been raised in his alternate version of Philadelphia's urban sector, Bryce was heavily influenced by gang culture, which was often reflected by his jargon. Greatly inspired by his father, Tevin Jones, Bryce felt obligated to join in the frequent attacks against law enforcement, who oppressed his people due to their ethnicity.

During the events of He Saves Gods as a Man, it was revealed that Bryce's biracial ethnicity caused numerous controversies among his peers. Being half Scottish from his mother's side, Bryce suffered from routine bullying, which caused Bryce to feel a contractual obligation to overly express his African-American side, in a manner that many described as "wannabe black". Bryce's behavior was received poorly, which led many to describe his actions as "corny". However, as Bryce continued to face his past as well as his biracial background, Bryce started to noticeably tone down on his exaggerated personality, showing that he was slowly maturing.

Despite these shortcomings, Bryce's eagerness to stand against the oppression benefited both himself and the people of Philadelphia. Because of his strong sense of brotherhood, something inherited from his father, Bryce is extremely courageous, borderline dangerous, jumping into the line of fire without hesitation. A notable example of this was during a shooting between a police faction and numerous gangs who attempted to keep the officers from arresting a group of innocent civilians, Bryce hijacked a police vehicle and drove the car into the line of fire, providing cover for his comrades to recover the arrested individuals.

Bryce's recklessness and overconfidence finally led to their destructive consequences during his duel against Rya the Lightgiver, an Ancient Celestial who had a ranking of Elite Tier S+, which surpassed Bryce's power. Despite Aaron warning him of his disadvantage, Bryce's arrogance caused him to proceed with the battle, in which Bryce approached the fight with severe overconfidence, gloating about his newfound vampiric powers and claiming that he was now at the same fighting ability as the God Eater. Even when Rya began overwhelming Bryce, inflicting severe wounds on him, Bryce still refused to accept Aaron's help, instead, stubbornly continuing the fight even when his life was in extreme danger.

Bryce showing his fangs

"Bryce: Heheheheh... inspect all you like, Miss! Hell, I'll let ya inspect me all night!
Sigurd: You are extremely unathletic. Lazy. Poor hygiene, and inferiority complex on the size of your own genitalia. You rely heavily on your metahuman ability to generate entropic energy from your cells. Defeating you follows a trivial procedure.
"

- Bryce's attempts at flirting with Annie backfiring

Bryce's personality has been described by many of his female colleagues as "colorful", due to his lack of societal filters and speaking his own mind. Depending on the degree of attraction Bryce holds to someone, the way he addresses them could occasionally be over the top, as his first interaction with his new colleague at the time, Annelise Scarlet, involved him revealing his fetish of being "inspected" by women. Other times, Bryce's snarky attitude has served as a tool that he has used in battle, intimidating, or even outright causing his opponents to lose their composure at his ridiculousness. Due to his unpredictable and volatile nature, Bryce's personality meshes well with Aaron's troublemaker personality, leading to the two frequently getting into tons of mischief together, much to the disappointment of the girls on their team.

In spite of his less-than-dignifying traits, Bryce holds a strong sense of dedication to his friends. Bryce has been described to be loyal and noble when it counts, sometimes in questionable ways, an example being Bryce's attempt to cheer Aaron up by inviting the Outer Shadow to engage in the voyeurism of the voluptuous Vicki Harriet. However, at other times, Bryce has shown to be genuine, especially when Aaron had lost to Jekyll and ended up having his daughter kidnapped by the God of Warfare; Bryce wrote a personal heartfelt letter to his Outer Shadow, begging Aaron to not push himself too hard.

Interests and Hobbies

Anime and Manga

Bryce's intimidating expression when watching anime

"Bryce: It's been a pleasure fightin' alongside y'all. If Loyce kills me in the final battle, remember me...
Aaron: ...
Bryce: ...By featuring me as a new love interest in Chiyo's arc-
Aaron: You're thinking about anime at a time like this?!
"

Bryce is an avid fan of Japanese cartoons and comics, known as an "otaku" in Japanese culture, a "weeb" in Westerner culture, and a "degenerate" in Aaron's culture. Bryce is a lifetime member of the Anime Wife Hunters Ltd. organization, a group of fully grown men who spend their time researching female anime characters and adding them to the "Official Waifu List of the AWH". Bryce is one of the major contributors to the list, spending most of his time binge-watching anime and pirating manga in bulk. One of the characters that Bryce is heavily infatuated with is a character known as "Chiyo", who is a young seventeen-year-old high school student who bares striking similarity in appearance to Auxiliary Shadow Sigurd.

An interesting and slightly disturbing quirk that Bryce possesses is that whenever Bryce watches anime or reads manga, especially if Chiyo is involved, Bryce puts on an extremely intimidating facial expression. Aaron describes Bryce's composure as that of a "killer stalking his prey" whenever he watches anime. Despite Bryce's appearance looking outright aggressive, the truth is far from it, as it is revealed that the more aggressive Bryce's facial expressions appear, the more infatuated he actually is with what he is watching. This quirk led to disastrous consequences when Aaron treated Bryce to an anime convention, where Bryce found Chiyo's voice actress and his expression terrified the young woman causing the Auxiliary Shadow and his Outer Shadow to be kicked out of the convention, much to Bryce's disappointment.

When Bryce learned that Outer Shadow Shosuke Shiki was now a nomad with the death of his Inner Shadow, Bryce persuaded Shiki to come over to Aaron's barracks to learn English in exchange for free manga and anime copies available only in Shiki's version of Japan. Bryce had also made strides to try to learn Japanese from Shiki so he could watch anime without subtitles but later learned that due to Shiki's lack of childhood, the Outer Shadow's Japanese was akin to a middle schooler. Regardless, Bryce and Aaron still welcomed Shiki to their home, showing that Bryce was not against accepting new people in his life.

Videogames

Bryce is an extremely skilled gamer, his top games being NBA 2K (a basketball videogame), and Rainbow Siege (a tactical first-person shooter game). A large part of Bryce's proficiency in both games is the fact that the Auxiliary Shadow rarely ever went on missions and would spend most of his days cooped up in his room gaming. According to Aaron, Bryce ranks among the top 100 players in his world in NBA 2K, ranks among the top 500 players in the world in Rainbow Siege, and is the best gamer in the entire cohort.

When Bryce played against Sigurd, the latter being an android, Sigurd used her Ultraspeed Thought Processing to learn the game and systematically deduce effective strategies but was still unable to beat Bryce in a 2K match, a testament to his skill.

Bryce also enjoys streaming and sharing his gameplay amongst his friends, as shown when Bryce set up his monitor in the living room of the barracks to play 2K in front of Shiki and Sakura.

Robbie: How in the heck did you make every single girl in this eroge hate you?!
Bryce: *Puffs chest* By bein' myself!
Aaron: That's not something you should be proud of!

Despite his proficiency in FPS and basketball simulator games, Bryce has shown to be completely inept in other video game genres. Particularly MMOs in which Bryce adopts a "the best offense is the best defense" strategy which often backfires for both him and his party. Bryce has also been shown to be horrid at dating sims, as his first approach to virtual women is much like his approach to women in real life: either never talking to them out of panic, or flirting abysmally.

Philadelphia Cheesesteaks

Bryce possesses an iconic obsession with his world's Philadelphian cheesesteaks, as it has become one of his favorite foods. When Bryce was invited by Aaron to try out Millennium City's cheesesteaks, Bryce took great offense at Aaron's implication of the possibility that there were cheesesteaks better than the ones he was used to.

Love Interests

"There is nothing more respectable than staying true to yourself, Bryce. I will never judge you for your interests. Because those interests are what makes you, you. As long as you're proud of what you are, I will never judge you."

Annelise Scarlet: When Bryce first met TX7F, the female android left a lasting impression on him as she checked off every criterion he had in a woman. Though the attraction that Bryce held for Annelise was initially infatuation, Bryce slowly began to truly fall in love with Scarlet through the years the two knew each other. These feelings became more intense as Annelise started to transition to becoming a human.

Annelise was the first person in the cohort, aside from Aaron, to take part in Bryce's gaming sessions, with the two going as far as to compete against each other in 2K, much to the disbelief of the other Shadows. Despite the frequent mocking of Bryce's interest in anime and video games from many of the girls Bryce had tried to speak to, Annelise was the first girl to accept this side of Bryce, as she admired his confidence in staying true to himself. Despite this, the two Auxiliary Shadows had a rather noticeable degree of banter, as Bryce frequently attempted to flirt with Annie to no avail, and Annie returned with scathing comebacks which left Bryce utterly humiliated. Even so, between openly taking part in Bryce's gaming sessions and the banter shared between the two, Bryce's feelings for Annie quickly transitioned from mere infatuation to love, though Bryce refused to admit it out of embarrassment.

Bryce's denial eventually took a turn when Annie started to become Aaron's main Auxiliary Shadow and his right-hand woman, as Annie had stopped coming to his gaming sessions and fought alongside Aaron in his missions, particularly in stealth ops. Learning that Annie was spending more time working to fill the void June left behind, Bryce grew jealous, realizing that the feelings he harbored for his colleague were genuine love.

On the other hand, Annelise was unaware of Bryce's attraction to her, as Bryce was the first person the Shadow had trouble reading due to his unpredictability in battle. Despite knowing full well Bryce's habits and nature, Annelise was unable to realize the things he did were out of the love he had for her, until her Omega Upgrade unlocked her human side to its fullest potential, allowing her to fully understand her colleague's feelings. When Annelise's Omega Upgrade went out of control, Aaron was incapacitated, and Bryce had to step in to fight Sigurd in his place. As the two fought, a SS Ranked Sigurd outclassed a S+ Ranked Bryce, leading Bryce to express his frustrations, revealing to Sigurd outright that he loved her and that the thought that everything he had done to become S+ Ranked was ultimately shadowed by Annie's SS Rank.

Bryce's confession to Sigurd caused her to regain control of her upgrade, and Sigurd realized the frustration Bryce had been through to try to become strong and turn his life around. When the group returned to Vicki's residence, Bryce attempted to throw away all of his video games and manga books, believing his interests were holding him back from becoming strong like Annie. However, moments before throwing his belongings away, Bryce was stopped by the cyborg, who reaffirmed her admiration of Bryce's confidence in his interests, and that there was nothing wrong with the things he liked. Annie then admitted that she did not have an answer to Bryce's confession, but was willing to get to know him more outside of missions to provide him with the answer he looked for.

It was revealed by Loki that in the future, the two Auxiliary Shadows become married with a daughter named Amara Eliza Jones.

"Robbie: Ummm... Bryce has that scary face again.
Aaron: What's he watching?
Robbie: The anime with that Chiyo girl... oh.
"

Chiyo Tachibana: Chiyo Tachibana is the name of the protagonist in an anime in which Bryce heavily invests his time. Despite being a fictional character in Bryce's world, the Auxiliary Shadow has become so infatuated with Chiyo that he purchased every single merchandise and collector's item of the schoolgirl character, going so far as to have his closet plastered with posters of the character smiling, greeting the poster every morning before starting his daily routine.

Interestingly enough, Chiyo bears striking similarity to Annelise Scarlet and is most likely the reason why Bryce developed an unhealthy obsession with the character. As expected, whenever Bryce watched the anime in which Chiyo is featured in, a murderous expression appears on his face showing how much he loves her.

Powers and Abilities

Weapon Transmutation: The first ability that Bryce possesses, which was the first power that Bryce had manifested was the ability to either call upon his weapons out of thin air or to convert an inanimate object into the form of them. There appears to be no limit as to what kind of object can be transformed into Bryce's weapons, as he has been seen to transmute objects ranging from stop signs, poles, water molecules, and even air itself. However, if the molecules that Bryce tries to transmute are not solid in nature, the process takes longer.

  • "Scarlet" Uzi: Bryce's original weapon, which was a standard compact submachine gun. The weapon was capable of firing highly concentrated bolts of red energy which were capable of melting Destreum. During the second Battle for Detroit, in which Doctor Destroyer sent his Mega Destroids to unleash havoc in Renaissance Centre, Bryce summoned his Uzi and was capable of leveling several of the mechanical golems with little to no difficulty, however, was scolded by the superheroes for "doing even more damage than the Mega Destroids".
  • Dracula's Impaler: A legendary sword wielded by Count Dracula himself, Bryce can transform his bat into a blade that harnesses his vampiric powers to an enhanced degree. The sword is razor sharp and can cut through the most durable of materials, but among the many properties it possesses, the most notable one is its immense compatibility with the power that Bryce generates from absorbing the life force and blood of his victims.
