Background

History

Since the day she was born, Jocelyn has dealt with the fact she was different. Using a scalpel, the doctor attempted to cut her umbilical cord to give the beautiful baby to her mother. Instead, the scalpel turned to dust.

It was the little things throughout her childhood that made everything a bit more inconvenient. All needles turned to dust on her skin, so she could only get vaccinated with ones that had nasal sprays. Silverware, handles, toys, swing-sets, door knobs and doors--all were ruined while growing up. Her parents tried to get her as much plastic items as possible. Often, she had to wear gloves just in case so she didn't destroy something.

Jocelyn was so shy growing up, especially after accidentally destroying a cute pet robot of someone's that jumped up to hug her one time. She's spent a lot of time in her own introverted world. She also, sadly turned to food for comfort, and eventually was 15-30 pounds overweight most of the time. Girls teased her while growing up at her school, and her grades suffered a lot. Eventually, her parents pushed her into a basic martial arts program to help her lose weight.

In high school, she started over with a new crowd in Millennium City. She briefly attended James Harmon II High school, which was quite the big experience for her. Her creativity eventually began to pay off as she spent a lot of her time working on making costumes as she discovered the cosplay community. Soon she was out at conventions, finally developing a way to cope with her social anxieties. When in costume, she felt like someone else--someone amazing and confident. With that confidence, she signed up for the high school's drama club and began to break from her shy shell by doing well in theater.

When not at school, she has a close circle of friends who play roleplaying games and LARP on the weekends. She tries not too think much about her mutant power and instead focuses on her acting and cosplay.

Villain Observation

Rumors of her superpower have made their way to several supervillain organizations who are actively monitoring her for potential recruitment. Being able to corrode metal would provide a serious advantage and schemes are underway to atttempt to influence her.

Some heroes have gotten wind of this plan and are hoping to thwart them. UNTIL has an operative monitoring this situation and occasionally notifies the school faculty of potential threats to Jocelyn and other students. It was the operative who suggested to the Kimuras that they move their daughter to Millennium City to be around more heroes and closer to an UNTIL facility.

Personality

Jocelyn is shy and nonviolent. In fact, when confronted with trouble, she will immediately turn tail and run. She used to be extremely shy, but now compensates for that by running around town as different characters and going to drama club. Some say this is really her avoiding her own personality by adopting her own, so her own personality never truly develops. Those who are able to actually know her, will reveal that she is very awkward and fidgety. She also tends to daydream a lot and gets lost mid-thought while talking to people.

Powers

Jocelyn has the mutant ability to dissolve metal on contact. This includes alloys and all items made with a metal on the periodic charts. They simply breakdown into metallic dust upon contact. Magical enhancements and protections can generally prevent this from happening to metal items.

Some particular feats of Jocelyn's:

  • Bullets and swords turn to dust upon striking her.
  • She can walk through metal doors and walls, turning them to dust.

Gallery

Corrosia rarely goes out around town as herself. She is much too shy for that. Instead, she takes on a persona and heads out onto the town as one of her favorite comic book characters, superheroes, or video game characters
