"Mhmm..." - Forgeman

Appearance and Personality

Story

Brock wasn't raised by wolves--or superheroes for that matter. His parents weren't aliens and they themselves showed no mutant abilities. In fact, he was raised by a pair of perfectly normal reenactors from Williamsburg, VA. His mother worked as a colonial housewife while his father worked as the town blacksmith. They even did renaissance fairs on the side as a hobby. Because of this, Brock was brought up on stories of valor and honor--of heroes that were very normal but did incredible things. He learned how to handle a hammer and anvil because he loved spending time with his father--and it taught him to appreciate a simple life.

In 2009, he began to develop his mutant ability of transmutation. It began when he accidentally turned a quilt his mother had started working on from cloth into a sheet of thick aluminum. Naturally, he was terrified and his parents were obviously concerned. But then he turned a lead musket ball into a gold musket ball. That was when his parents began to change. They saw an opportunity to become rich very, very quickly off of their son and so they did just that. Naturally, he was in high school at the time so there was very little he could do to say 'No' and even then, they were never out-and-out cruel to him; he just didn't like how their new-found wealth had changed them. They pulled him out of public school, hired on tutors to keep their son's gift as secret as possible and then retired from the reenacting business on their spoils.

He never blamed them for what they did--he figured most everyone would if they suddenly could be as rich as they wanted. He didn't want that though. He enjoyed working with his hands and being able to make things, especially for other people. And so, he left home as soon as he legally could and never looked back. Even so, he occasionally sends a small stipend back home so his parents have something but beyond that, he doesn't contact them too terribly often.

It was right after moving into Millennium City that he began to experiment with just what his powers could do. After all, he was in a city of heroes, some super, some average, and all of them fighting crime. Brock wasn't a fighter; he swore he wouldn't fight. He'd always been a big kid for his (or any) age and so had always just let folks tired themselves out since he could take a hit like no one else in school could. He was quiet too, and didn't like attracting attention to himself, much preferring to simply help those around him, rather than face down super villains. It was then he discovered he could transform not only materials but also his very own flesh and blood into living metal, stone or mineral. Suddenly, he was doing more than just helping to equip heroes with supplies and basic weapons; now he could lift and catch weights vastly beyond his normal means and take far more punishment. Now he could suddenly protect those around him--and that is exactly what he decided to do.

Instead of fighting, though, he began to act as a way to alleviate a great deal of the collateral damage and casualties that came with fighting. It wasn't glorious by most standards, but it was what he liked to do. He much rather wanted to make sure that civilians were alright than fighting villains that he knew the other heroes could stop. He's been at it ever since.

Powers and Abilities

Transmutation

Forgeman's main ability is transmutation of materials. He can, through touch, turn one material into another, be it lead into gold or metal into stone. He can also do the same to living or organic material and does so to himself, making his own body into a walking wall of whatever may be best at the time, be it a metal, stone, crystal etc. He can move freely and gains all the effects of the materials in question. In addition, he can do the same to other forms of organic life or materials; he can actively decide to allow the target mobility or to keep them, essentially, a statue of the designated material. He can also increase or decrease mass through touch as well. It is important to note that any transformations to anything or anyone other than himself takes time and continuous contact. He cannot transform a target's skin and tissue unless touching their skin. Thus, those fully covering their body cannot be 'petrified' though their armor can be changed if given enough time and contact.
