Fursonya

Fursonya was the joke Dual Blades character I created to try it out during beta. Turns out I liked it a lot and remade her with a slightly more serious colour scheme but kept the name. She was the one I first tried running into Caprice on and, as with all my RP, her backstory was entirely fabricated on the spot.
Origin
Sonya was born to a working class family in the towns surrounding London in jolly old England. A studious child who excelled in her studies of the sciences, Sonya was eventually granted a scholarship to study genetics. Up to this point her life was rather mundane, but after her graduation Sonya was singled out by her professors to lead a team of geneticists for a new avenue of human enhancement research (as if another one was sorely needed). Time went by, and the project met with limited success. After the deaths of Sonya's parents, she knuckled down to her work rather than deal with the grief and the team made some breakthroughs. Eventually, the team was moved to a new Millennium City lab as Detroit's rebuilding ramped up.
And so, one fateful day the lab was wracked by tremors from some nearby apocalyptic battle. It just so happens that during this, Sonya was handling a prototype vector virus the team had created in the containment area; needless to say she was infected by it. This marked the start of a several day trial for her and for the rest of the team as they struggled to keep her alive. Eventually an antidote of sorts was created that would temporarily hold Sonya's code mostly stable- this gave her her regeneration, and made sure she needed a dose of the antidote regularly to carry on living.
Finding working with her changed skeletal structure difficult and needing counselling, Sonya stepped down as team lead and decreased her hours in the lab.
Stepping forward, Sonya concludes it's high time to use her affliction for something positive- other than drinking whisky with her tongue. She'd always been a fairly good marksman as she visited shooting ranges to blow off steam, and the swords came naturally given her penchant for the dramatic. And Fursonya? That's just a hilarious pun riffing off of furries on the internet.
Nowadays, Sonya finds herself enrolled in the strange ranks of The Cognatus; owing almost entirely to her friendship with Tiria, the group's leader. She admittedly doesn't engage much with the other members and mostly hangs in Caprice to drink bourbon and make sarcastic comments.
