Hello, my name is Healing Vision. Actually, my name is Brad. I'm a white magician by arcane practice and I live with my mom, dad, and older brother in Millennium City. As you might guess, I'm just a teenager trying to live some sort of normal life in this really big city. As normal as one can get, anyway.

Background

I come from a family that practices divine and holy magic. White Magic, if you prefer. While most people associate magic as being elemental, casting hexes, or even voodoo, the kind of magic my family (and of course myself) practices is something related to healing, mending, and protecting. With the few number of white magicians in the world, our family can also use it offensively. When we do it, it's referred to as smiting. It's considered white magic all the same.

Origins

I was born as the second of two children on February 5, 1996 in Salem, Massachusetts. This place has a lot of history with regards to the occult, rumors of the supernatural, and Wicca and Paganism. Specifically, the Salem Witch Trials that happened in 1692. It was well-known that most of the people in this city who practiced any sort of magic was considered a black mage, a magician who practiced offensive magics. (For example, the elements like fire, water, ice, thunder; necromancy and other hexes, and even forbidden spells)

My parents started to teach me the art when I was 5 (in 2001) since I had a natural affinity to it. Starting out, it was fairly difficult for me. My older brother Casey picked it up way faster than I did and I even had some trouble with it. But with enough practice, determination, and dedication, I was going to go through with it and I vowed to myself that I would master the art.

Conformity

As I was growing up, I was starting to get a harder time with all the abilities, magic spells, and wards that I was being taught. I believe a lot of it had to do with having trouble with coping with the ability of empathy. You could say that empathy is a part of this whole "package" of being a white magician. At first, I wasn't sure how to handle being able to feel the emotions of others. At a point, it was getting difficult to deal with other peoples' emotions in addition to mine. Especially during the time that I was starting to be a teenager.

At the same time, my older brother was also having a hard time getting used to it.

Given the time, though, we both became adept and getting a hold of it. Not only that, I was always of the mind that people didn't like it when you invaded their privacy. This also included their emotions. If I feel like people want their privacy, then I won't try to feel their emotions.

To The Midwest

When I was 13, my dad heard of some sort of alien invasion that was taking place. He just told us to pack up and be ready to go. So we did. We were headed for Michigan, in a place people liked to call "The City of the Future." For some reason, I was getting excited. Sure Salem had its rich history and it was someplace I called home, but I've only heard of this City of the Future on TV and constantly on the internet. I was looking forward to going.

When we got there, it was very overwhelming. While I was excited to finally get there, we were finding that the place was being attacked like my dad had said. The four of us quickly went to work, helping the injured and help fight off these aliens.

After all the hard work and all the effort put in by the Champions and other heroes, the Millennium City was back to normal. Well, relative normal. My father fell in love with this place and did not want to leave. It took a bit of effort for my mother to be convinced that this was a great place to live. So after a few weeks, we finally moved to Millennium City. My brother enrolled in James Harmon III High School, and I was sent to City Center Jr. High.

Fitting In

It didn't take us very long to get accustomed to life in the big city. Especially one where there are many superpowered people around. My brother and I are still studying white magic, doing all we can to master it.

By the time I was in high school, my brother had already moved on to college. I went to the same high school he did and it was a little daunting at first. In time, I became used to it. I was a bit of a loner, though. I had a lot of casual friends but no one I really considered close. Now that I'm in my junior year, maybe that'll change.

Magic

With the abilities that we have, I've always wondered if we (my family) were completely human. I mean, I've heard of this "Homo Magi" term but I've always thought that magic can be learned even if people don't entirely have an affinity for it. Either way, I've come to terms with what and who I am and have accepted it.

White Magic

As a white magician, I have access and am able to learn a plethora of magic spells from curing and healing to smiting and protecting. I've yet to master any of them but I'm getting there with the guidance of my mother, father, and my older brother Casey.

Divinity

The divinity part of our magic gives us the ability to smite our enemies. Because of the purity and life of our divinity spells, undead creatures are especially susceptible to these sorts of spells.

Empathy

I have mixed feelings about being an empath, but I think this is especially tied to what we do. When we were in Millennium City for the first time in 2009, this helped me find people who were trapped in debris and people who were hurt and needed help.

I tend to think of this power as something that I should use with caution. Much like people who are telepaths and can read peoples' minds, peoples' privacy is what comes first. If I feel like they want to be left alone, I won't use this power. I'd rather have the person's trust first.

Flight

This is a power that I abuse, I'll admit. I really like flying. The views from about a thousand feet are spectacular.

Tarot

With my mothers' teachings, I am able to do Tarot readings. Like my brother, this isn't really so much an ability as much as it is something I like to do on the side.

Herbalism

Also with the help of my mothers' teachings, I am trying to master the art of herbalism. They say modern medicine is just another way to destroy your body, mind, and soul but it's really just the same thing as herbalism. Minus the fact that they don't use plants to do it with. Well, not so much anyway.

I like to create herbal teas and herbal elixirs to help speed-up the healing process. When you're outdoors and you have no advil or tylenol, what do you do?

Playlist

I have an mp3 player for long car rides, plane rides, or when I can't sleep. I don't use it much when I'm just going around the city and I'm definitely not allowed to use it during classes.
