Early Life

Spoiler Warning
The following details are about a player-created storyline, or is information currently unrevealed about a character.
Please do not use this information ICly unless given permission to do so.

Danae Espinosa was born to an average family, and had an uneventful but happy childhood. Her family relocated to Israel when she was eight, and she gravitated toward a career in law enforcement early on. Her mother Yadira and father Ganya were both employed at Soroka Hospital, and her younger brother Davide was set to follow in their footsteps to become a doctor as well. Everything was as it should be, until Danae's brother and parents were killed during an attack against the hospital. She redoubled her efforts into martial training, focusing all of her grief into honing her abilities. She became a member of the Israeli police force in record time, though was not taken seriously by her peers due to her having been crowned Miss Teen Be'er Sheva only a few years prior.

She worked diligently to uncover the identity of the mastermind behind the plot which took the lives of her family, a man named Asher Kazim. She confronted police in his host country of Spain and presented her findings from the investigation, hoping that he would be brought to justice. Justice however, was a bribed judge and a dog and pony show trial, which led to the man's release. The situation became even further complicated when Asher used his connections to have Danae fired from her job, stalked, and eventually kidnapped. Authorities classified her as a missing persons case, and she is still considered as such today.

It was at this point that she became known as the pit-fighter Nagini, adored in the seedy underbelly of Barcelona for her immense beauty and her snake-like reflexes. She was well known to illegal, underground prize-fighting circuits during this time, using her cunning and physical prowess to best powered and non-powered combatants alike. What was not widely known was that she was little more than a slave. Through unknown circumstances she was able to eventually free herself from captivity, killing Asher Kazim and a good amount of his goons in the process. Alone and penniless in Barcelona, she continued to fight in underground circuits. She also found herself employed as a high-price bodyguard escort for high profile targets.

Known Details

In 2007 Nagini fell off the radar. She was convinced that she had taken her physical training as far as could be expected for human standards. It was not enough. She began monitoring illegal ventures which were aimed toward creating super-powered soldiers, specifically those of VIPER.

She broke into VIPER's facilities in Egypt and stole a canister of their DRAYSHA gas. She escaped unharmed and exposed herself to the formula. The side effects of the gas were intense, leaving her near catatonic and incredibly weakened at the onset. While she was recovering in her Cairo safehouse, VIPER apprehended her. Using their psionic division, they convinced her to work in their employ to 'pay off her debt' for using their formula. During this time she was known as Sand Viper, fighting heroes and villains who pitted themselves against VIPER with extremely brutal methods.

In a recent assignment within Millennium City, Sand Viper was thrown off of a bridge and then hit by a car, shattering several bones and requiring intensive care and rehabilitation. VIPER disassociated themselves with her at this time, considering her "rescue" to be more trouble than she was worth due to her apparent failure. She was seen leaving the scene in an ambulance, but she was not checked in to the hospital. Following this incident she was apprehended for the kidnapping of the EMT Eclipse who was driving the ambulance, and held at the prison facility within Millennium City. Eclipse later dropped charges, and with a clean psychological evaluation submitted by Psionistar (a MCPD Psychiatric Consultant) she was released.

Hydra was involved in an incident at Eclipse Memorial Park, which is at the northern edge of downtown Millennium City. Police have stated that the area was cleaned of any solid evidence, and that MCPD MARS operative Victor was found floating in the reflecting pool when emergency personnel arrived on scene. Following this event, Victor recovered and declined to press charges. He has not issued a statement as to the particulars of that incident, nor has Hydra explained her involvement publicly.

The story was quickly dropped from the news, and Hydra still apparently works in concert with UNTIL's Project Snakecharmer. Major Rashida Kwame is quoted as saying that Hydra's efforts are "exemplary" and that her work is "highly classified" but no further information was given regarding her rank or status within the operation.

Recent Activity

Hydra has been incognito for several weeks, shortly following the incident at Eclipse Memorial Park. Her closest associates have been out of contact with her, and her bank accounts have had no recent (non-automated) activity.

Danae Espinosa was last sighted around the same time, and was an outside contractor for an organization referred to as Impetus, employed as a psychologist prior to her disappearance. The company says she filed for personal leave, but declined to comment as to the nature or duration of her vacation.

A tabloid recently took a picture of Hunter entering the penthouse elevator of her apartment, and speculation rages as to whether the two are involved, following events at the Millennium City Charity auction wherein she won a date with the native american hero.

Eclipse, also featured in the tabloid article in an embarrassingly drunken bought of boombox begging on her penthouse patio. He was then photographed being admitted to the psychiatric care center at Henry Ford Kingswood Hospital.

Powers and Abilities

She has no natural super-powers, instead deriving all of her superhuman characteristics from exposure to experimental DRAYSHA gas. This includes superb strength, agility, and toughness.

She has claimed to have the ability to hear the muscles tightening in her opponents, allowing her to sense their movements before they occur and thereby reinforcing her exceptional tactical training.

She has also demonstrated that the venom which her mouth now produces is highly poisonous. It is an adaptive neuro-toxin, which resists all mundane efforts at production of an antivenin, because it adapts to overcome immunities. Those with immunities to poisons still find themselves in a state similar to opiate or sympathomimetic intoxication. They may begin to have altered mental states, delusions, pinpoint pupils, paranoia, respiratory depression, piloerection (goosebumps), sweating, and unresponsiveness in small doses, with larger doses resulting in shock, pulmonary edema, hypothermia, seizures, and coma.

Weaknesses and Limits

She is extremely susceptible to psionics, and as such takes pains to limit her contact with telepathic individuals. She also has all normal human resistances to disease, radiation, and so on.

Public Perception

Hydra is a new handle which has seen little use in mainstream news media. The public perception of Hydra is neutral. While she has been documented doing good things, her methods leave much to be desired. Her modus operandi is blackmail, theft, destruction of property, and bodily injury in order to police those who would ordinarily slip through the system were they arrested. Her activities are known to law enforcement, however there is insufficient proof to issue warrant for her arrest. Ironically her problem with the justice system and its limitations is being exploited by her in order for her to fulfill her objectives. UNTIL has instead opted for passive damage control in her situation, in keeping her busy with assignments where she does not face criticism for her hardline attitudes, such as repelling invading otherworldly or extra-dimensional foes.

Danae Espinosa is Hydra's non-disclosed identity. She's a psychologist, and maintains a hefty investment portfolio. She is considered quite well to do, but does not have infinite funds at her disposal. (Please discuss with me first the context of why your character might know her secret identity before using it blithely.)

Sand Viper is perceived to be a villain, an indescriminate killer without remorse. While she was thrall to VIPER, her actions were without her consent. Her personality and memories had been editted from the norm to make her a suitable slave to their goals. She has not been tried for her actions during this time, and is still wanted for several counts of murder.

Nagini is only rarely remembered outside of prize-fighting circuits. As with her true identity, it holds little notoriety even within her home region.

Allies and Enemies

Unknown. UNTIL and VIPER alike seem to be interested in utilizing Hydra's abilities for their own ends. She has been photographed in the past with Mr Millennium Eclipse during social occasions, and there is some speculation as to whether the two are involved in a serious relationship.

Meta-Data

Real-world appearance model:

If she were played in a movie, she would be best represented by the model Bar Refaeli because she's also israeli, and very beautiful!

Tropes:

The Femme Fatale: The Femme Fatale manipulates and confuses the hero with her undeniable aura of sexiness and danger. He knows she's walking trouble and that she knows much more about the bad guys than she should, but damn it if he can't resist her feminine wiles. Failing this, Hydra is certainly a bit of a Woman in Black and absolutely inspired by Mata Hari. Expect to deal with the Honey Trap method if she's after you, though she's a bit manipulative so it may be less overt.

Hellooo Nurse: She can't help it, she's just that hot. Even her non-human characteristics can be considered Fetish Fuel, like her eyes. She's got a Sexy Walk and glorious hindquarters. Leads to undeniable eye wandering by even the most honorable of heroes. She can often be considered an Amazonian Beauty at times, because she's quite toned and has enhanced strength.

Sexy Back: Hydra's formal outfits are all backless. This leads to the associated assumption of Vapor Wear or The Most Common Super Power. Though she doesn't seem to wear skimpy outfits. When nude, expect Godvia Hair and creative methods of peek-a-boo to keep things sexily mysterious.

The Classy Cat Burglar: She doesn't steal; she liberates. She doesn't lie; she fibs. She steals from the rich and keeps it all for herself, but at least she is easy on the eyes. She's also got a spy catsuit. Her hero gear features a full body black catsuit, with armored overlay. See also Femme Fatalons for her suit's claws.

Dating Catwoman: Is she a non-traditional hero, a well-meaning villain? It's all good, because she's attractive, but it can lead to complications when you move from admiring from afar to dating her. See also the tropes of Love Makes You Crazy or Love Makes You Dumb for common reactions to her.

The Baroness: While she was Sand Viper, she absolutely was party to this trope.

The Hot Scientist: Hydra, as Danae Espinosa, is a licensed Pyschologist. She uses a lot of big words, but still manages to make a lot of sense. Unless you're distracted by her absolute cleavage.
