"There are three pieces of advice that every Hopper should keep in mind at all times:

1.) Not everyone knows everything all the time,

2.) Be wary of 'Facts', and

3.) Always assume that everything can get worse.

3a.) And when it does, feel free to panic."

Appearance

Kaira stands at almost exactly six feet tall, with glowing blue eyes and orange hair being her most unique features. Other than that, she appears to be a standard African-American female, with no other distinctive traits to speak of. She is of a slightly athletic build, adequate for the job that she possesses, while not being particularly noteworthy or special.

More striking is her choice of dress. Kaira wears one of her many standard-issue orange Hopper jumpsuits at all times, even when relaxing, and has not been seen wearing anything else other than her Hopper suit to date. Whether or not this is due to choice, or just another facet of her ever-present set of protocols, is unknown. Kaira's Hopper Suit follows a similar color-scheme, orange with various grey stripes, and a helmet with a large visor that completely obscures her face.

Personality

Kaira typically manages to be a rather cheerful person, who somehow manages to state even the gravest of scientific facts with a smile and a happy voice, provided that there is no immediate danger. Although she is also capable of entering a more business-like tone, she still carries a certain air of positive energy about her when going about various duties, scientific and otherwise. When this energy begins to run down, however, Kaira often becomes rather irritable and fussy, especially when it comes to her work. She also has a tendency to become horribly flustered rather than truly angry, which has often resulted in people not seriously considering what she has to say, something that has a lot of potential to rub her the wrong way.

Background

Childhood

Kaira Varium Otos was born in a normal suburban area just outside a city somewhere near Long Island, on Earth Offshoot 90000006x10^284. The incredibly large number only serves to emphasize the relative insignificance of this particular offshoot universe, as far as human designations are concerned.

Really the only special thing about this particular Earth was that the number of people with Exceptional Abilities, as they were called there, was rather low. As a result, the general population tended to be very afraid of such people, and they were quickly placed in appropriate isolation chambers or laboratories should they fail to integrate into normal society, or should they refuse to do so altogether. Yes, it was here that Kaira was born, and lived nearly her entire childhood without knowing she was one of the very few people with powers.

Some time shortly after her twelfth birthday, a young Kaira was rather amused to find that small groups of pebbles that she touched began to orbit each other during a day at the park. Others, however, were not so amused. Authorities were called, and the family entered the standard heavy surveillance program that the families of all Supers went through. Those with powers were put on a strict Three Strike system; when all three chances were exhausted, the Government would take over.

Kaira's first strike occurred two years later, when she was fourteen. She ran out into the road after a ball, right as a speeding car rounded the corner. She threw up her arms in a defensive position, and found that by the time she realized that she was still alive, the entire car had been crushed into a small nugget floating in the middle of a circular gravitational field in front of her. The second strike occurred when she was sixteen. As her mind wandered while waiting in line at a grocery store, various items being held by those in front of her began to fall to the floor as if they were made of lead. The store clerk was also, rather unfortunately, immobilized. The third and final strike came roughly six months later. Although she cannot recall the specifics, the incident ended with a bulldozer flying through someone's house. She insists it was an accident.

Imprisonment and Escape

After being placed in a Resting Compartment (a special cell designed to keep the energy of those inside of it at a minimum) with an old man that possessed unknown powers, Kaira began to lose her bubbly exterior, and became depressed. Talking with her cellmate eventually lifted her spirits, and he convinced her to escape and experience all that life has to offer. Several months after her initial commitment, she made a bolt for the vault doors of the underground compound, leading the wardens on a chase through the facility. Finally, she found herself cornered, and not knowing what to do, she poured all of her energy into creating a gravity well between her hands. After a really loud noise that sounded something like covering everything with a giant blanket, she found herself somewhere completely different.

An Introduction to Hopping

What was once an underground facility in the middle of a desert was now a thriving metropolis full of everything a big city should have. At first thinking that she had simply teleported, she continued to explore until she happened upon a map of the world.

A radically different map of the world than the one that she was used to.

Vibrant jungles were sprawling cities, barren deserts were rolling plains; there was no mistaking it, she was surely not where she thought she was.

Kaira continued to experiment with what she had just done, eventually ending up in an inter-universal station purely by chance. She stumbled through the facility, very confused and disoriented, until she came across a group of people who could understand her. Although most of them were rather alien in appearance, her initial shock slowly subsided as they did their best to explain what was going on, and where she was. She had stumbled across Hopper Central Command, one of the greatest trans-dimensional hotspots in existence, and they quickly made her aware of just how lucky she was to have ended up there instead of somewhere else. Kaira stayed at Central for what felt like only a few months as she absorbed as much information as she could about her situation. Eventually, she was selected by the G.U.I.D.E. as a Hopper, and began her data collection duties.

Arrival in Millennium

Hopping is rather stressful work, mainly because many things can go wrong. It was no surprise, then, that something did go wrong, and this little bit of Wrong ended up dumping Kaira several miles above Renaissance Center. Disoriented and falling quickly, she would have likely been reduced to jelly inside of her suit if one of Millennium City's many heroes was not there to see her to to the ground safely. Confused, she went out to explore the city, finding it absolutely captivating after only a short time of walking around.

Due to her choice of clothing being a Jumpsuit, she was often mistaken for a hero wearing tights. Kaira, who hailed from an Earth where Superpowers were shunned, had not given hero-work the slightest iota of thought during her inter-dimensional travels. However, after being mistaken for a hero enough times, she finally decided to give hero-work a try, originally taking out small-time thugs with the help of her Gravitational Anomalies and her protective Hopper Suit.

Of course, being the absent-minded Scientist that she is, she initially failed to realize that registering with PRIMUS tends to be a good idea. She was apprehended alongside several thieves that she was attempting to stop after she accidentally wrecked nearly half of a major West-Side avenue, destroying several cars, uprooting the sidewalk, and rendering the local area weightless for several hours through a combination of major Teleportation mishaps and out-of-control gravitational anomalies. After being questioned on her motives and intent (most of which was initially rather confusing for the PRIMUS officers in charge of her interrogation), she was simply deemed to be a trans-dimensional superhuman without any formal power-control training who just managed to be in the wrong place at the potentially right time (which, depending on who you ask, is not very simple at all). Nevertheless, procedure dictated that she be put through the same psychological tests that most registered superhumans go through in order to make sure that they are not walking dangers to society, and was successfully registered once she had been deemed to be safe to encounter. Her reckless heroism was, however, swiftly put to a stop by PRIMUS and UNTIL until further notice.
