Panda was grown in a secret PSI facility from the DNA PSI acquired from the original Panda and Raccoon. Instead of inheriting her "mother's" panda ears and her "father's" raccoon tail she has a panda tail. When she was artificially grown to age 11 she broke free of her gestation chamber and fled from the facility. Jing Mei found the little girl dumpster diving behind her restaurant-- The Golden Dragon. Jing Mei, the retired hero "Golden Dragon" who last fought in the battle of Detroit, took the child in. Jing Mei used her superhero connections to find out what she could about the child. After finding out the the lab the child had escaped from had been cleared out by some heroes and PSI had scattered leaving little behind, Jing Mei adopted the child and named her Amy.
Jing Mei was the first to call Amy "Xióngmāo" or "Panda" after putting the little girl's hair in black bun wraps. The black bun wraps, white hair, pale complexion, huge black eyes and black puffy tail give Amy the look of a panda bear. Amy liked this and would go out of her way to pick black and white clothing when she could.
Jing Mei noticed that Amy had a proficiency for martial arts-- specifically sword play. Under Jing Mei's tutelage, Amy quickly mastered the art of dual wielding katanas. Amy is also very agile. This was first noticed during a game of dodge ball in which the bigger kids became very frustrated with not being able to eliminate Amy because she kept "wiggling" too much.
Amy now patrols Chinatown in the black and white garb of Panda. She goes wherever she is needed. This includes fighting galactic threats with The Defenders of the Galaxy.
When not fighting crime, Panda can often be found in the Millennium City Power House Theater wearing the latest creations by Greer and Harlick or hosting a costume contest.
