SUMMARY

Strathmore at an annual shareholders meeting.

Eric Strathmore, CEO of Strathmore Industries, has submitted himself for a series of tests involving an unidentifed process to generate and control various waveforms of energy. This is a joint research and development project between Strathmore Industries and BCG Incorporated. Considering that Strathmore Industries actively manufactures and sells weapons with little regard for American foreign policy, PRIMUS is watching this project closely.

A second test subject, code-named Project Arctic, one of the research scientists from BCG Incorporated, is also participating in the experiment. PRIMUS has started a separate file on her, as well as a separate investigation.

The process by which Project Thermal and Project Arctic received their abilities remains a closely-guarded secret by both companies. An energy analysis of them indicates that they are not wearing suits or devices. Whenever they appear in the field, they are under constant supervision from a team of scientists and technicians who monitor their vital signs and energy output levels. PRIMUS has been able to hack into their satellite feed, but has been unable to decode two-thirds of the data streaming from the field to their think tank.

Director's Note: Project Thermal's relationship with Project Arctic seems different from their cover story. Press on this point and investigate. That may be the way inside.

CI File #8032-A

Subject's Name: Strathmore, Eric Ulysses

Evaluated by Dr. Diana Golden

Appropriated video footage of Project Thermal ignition test.

Analysis: Subject Strathmore was given the standard battery of tests, including the Meggido-Briars Test. It is this my opinion that if Strathmore did not have super powers, he would no doubt feel cheated, as if the universe made a mistake. His sense of self and ego register on the farthest end of the Meggido-Briars graph, and the only thing that keeps him from being a complete liability is his impressive intelligence.

Strathmore is a master manipulator, very aware of his gestures, his words, and his actions. He is extremely crafty and an expert at getting his way through charm and subtle intimidation.

Conclusion: Despite being able to mentally handle metahuman abilities, it is my personal recommendation that you do not give them to Strathmore. He is an unsuitable candidate due to his overdeveloped super ego.

Director's Note: This was not the report submitted to BCG. It was found in Golden's trash by PRIMUS agents. Suspect that Strathmore either convinced Golden to change her report or did it himself.

10 Questions With Eric Strathmore

Conducted by Cindy Hawthorn ProjectT1.jpg

CH: First off, tell me who Eric Strathmore really is.

ES: Oh, you're gonna hardball me right out of the gate? (laughs). You know, that's something I'm still trying to figure out. Living in the shadow of the company my father built has been a real challenge, because, you know, I've got this tremendous safety net that most people don't have access to. So, it's hard to learn a life lesson when you drive your porsche into the Millenium fountain. Daddy makes it all go away. New porsche the next day. It's like hitting reset on your Xbox.

So, I'm still working on me. Maybe I'm trying to take a bigger risk to get out from under the company shadow. I don't know. But I'll let you know when I figure it out.

CH: You're responsible for the creation of the AutoGrav Personal Assult Platform, the Constrictor Sleeper Coil Stun Gun, and most recently, The L.A.N.C.E. Armor currently in use by the British Government. And, at the same time, your munitions and rifles are being bought by various terrorist regimes. Do you ever feel like your toys are fighting one another?

ES: I know it's considered an amoral business to be in, but all of our buyers are, in fact, vetted before we sell to them. As a matter of record, we only deal with nations recognized by the United Nations. Now, what those countries do with their weapons once they have bought them is not part of our due dilligence. As Americans, we should all respect their right to bear arms in defense of their lives and personal property. And just because there are some criminals in this country who use handguns, I in no way wish to remove those handguns from the honest citizens who have earned the right to bear arms.

CH: Okay, you seem a little agitated. Let's--

ES: No, this is fine, I just was expecting something a little lighter.

CH: --well, let's change topics, then. What can you tell me about Project Thermal?

ES: (laughs) Not much, I'm afraid. But I can say that if this works out like we're all hoping, there will be not one but two new heroes in the skies over Millennium City. Project Thermal and Project Arctic. Fire and Ice. Or, T and A, if you prefer.

CH: Corporate-sponsored heroes? Is this the future for Strathmore Industries?

ES: Not necessarily. This is actually separate from SI for various reasons which are all boring and not worth going into. No, this is just me, helping out BCG, with my knowledge and experience, because I believe in what they are doing.

CH: Speaking of "doing," you've been linked to various celebrities: Jill Scarlet, Chyna Villa Lobos, and Dagney Fell are all rumored to have been in your...Porsche recently. Any comment?

ES: (laughing) Yeah, where do you get this stuff? I'm sorry, it's just funny. I met Jill twice in my life. Once at her release party, where I got my book signed, and again last month at a charity auction where they sell bachelors off to wealthy older women. We've spent a total of thirty-seven minutes in each other's company and that's a relationship to the tabloids. Sheesh.

CH: What about the others?

ES: (laughing) No comment!

CH: Well, then, tell me about your partner in this new venture, Project Arctic.

ES: Rebecca's great, really. I mean, it's a strictly business relationship we have, despite what you may have heard. We're colleagues. Fellow...architects, for lack of a better word. She was a little awestruck by me at first, you know my reputation preceded me, and all that jazz. But I think I got it through to her that this was going to be no different than any other consulting job. She loosened up after that. Nice woman. She's got a lot of heart.
