Intro

Tenshi is my first char i made from the ground up to be a RP avatar, and recently people told me i should look into getting her listed here, so well...

Here goes nothing eh?

Background and Childhood

Tenshi was one of the many Orphans left after the Destruction of Detroit, her memories shattered and no clue to her relatives. The authorities decided to place the child, guessed at being around eleven at the time and named Tenshi by the EMT that had found her, in a local orphanage. Here the little redhead proved to be a handful, always combative and willful, getting into fights and scuffles daily. Attempts at placing her in Foster Families failed time and time gain, and this worsened her outlook on life considerably. She specifically was known for racist slurs and comments to Non-Human looking residents and Orphans. However, after a few years of bouncing around the system, the Ryuko's, residents of Westside, came to the Orphanage and Tenshi's luck finally turned for the better.

Time with the Ryuko's

The Ryuko household, consisting of former Force Recon Marine Hamato Ryuko and his wife Shin, took note of the feisty redhead with the ironic name, Tenshi or Angel in japanese. They decided to adopt her, feeling themselves up to the challenge, and by doing so give her the home she so desperately longed for. After a rocky start, the Ryuko's proved more then a match for the rebellious teenager, and channeled her combative nature into martial arts training and simply went toe to toe with her temper tantrums. Tenshi blossomed, the way Hamato and Shin treated her was an eyeopener for Ten, and she, for the first time in her recent memory, felt at home, at peace.

Turning point

The years of living with the Ryuko's had their darker moments however, one of which was the passing of Shin to illness, and the depression that hit Hamato hard after that. He withdrew into a shell, leaving his business to falter and Tenshi, not knowing about his substantial savings, decided to take up a job to help with bringing in money into the household, and, but she would not admit this, get away from the gloomy state Hamato was in at that time.

It was during this time that a small subset of the Red Banner gang attempted to perform a ancient summoning ritual, and they saw a perfect offering in Tenshi. On her way home from work, she got attacked by a group of thugs. To the surprise of the thugs however, the girl they thought was a easy mark proved to be a hard target. Tenshi fought the thugs, and for a moment she had hope of escaping, but in the end no matter how well trained, a single 5ft something girl cannot hold out against six well trained and determined street-fighters.

When Tenshi woke up, her face bruised and tender, she found herself tied down to a makeshift altar in a disused Dockside warehouse, a circle of robed cultists all around her, and a strange energy permeating the air. Somehow she knew, that her life would end right there on that stone slab, and as the chanting reached a fever pitch her hope and resolve fled. Her only thought not for herself, but for her father, how losing her so soon after his beloved wife would break him, she prayed to whoever would listen to prevent that. her prayers went unheard, and the Tenshi Ryuko that entered the warehouse would never again be seen.

Birth of a new Tenshi

Unbeknown to Tenshi the ritual had attracted the attention of a local small time group of Superheroes. Led by one Frank Midland a.k.a. Master Magic, and consisting of him a young female nicknamed Daisy Cutter and her Lizard Manimal husband who worked under the moniker of StreetScale, they fought their way into the warehouse and burst into the room where the ritual was taking place. Details on the next few moments are scarce, but moments later the warehouse exploded in, what police reports and a investigation by paranormal investigators claimed to be, a massive surge of extra dimensional energies. The explosion showered the area in debris and claimed the lives of fifteen innocent bystanders, and two of the three heroes. Rescue workers were baffled however by the state Tenshi was found in however, her body convulsing in the throws of a painful transformation. After a minutes of agonizing and in the eyes of the onlooking EMT's shocking transformations, Tenshi's body did no longer look human, but instead she was now a 7ft, scaled lizard like creature. She was brought to Mercy Hospital and put in a special care unit for victims of Superhuman attacks, not knowing if she was dangerous or not she was tied down to the bed. However, tragically the hospital staff did not know that with her bodies transformation, Tenshi also gained superhuman strength. The bindings held for only three seconds... Her body awoke and acted on instinct, lashing out at the night nurses trying to wash and care for her, believing herself still in the warehouse and in the clutches of the Cultists. She severely wounded three nurses before coming to her senses and breaking down into a crying wreck after seeing what she had done. Tenshi cooperated meekly with the special response unit from the MCPD that the hospital had called in, they locked her into a more secure room and kept several officers on standby while Hamato Ryuko was informed of the situation. The old mad needed only one look into the eyes of the towering lizard to see that this was still his daughter, he then surprised the officers present by calmly stepping up to her, wrap her now massive frame into a hug and release the bindings on her arms. He asked the officers to leave, and then sat down on the bed that held his now changed foster child, and he talked. He told her everything he had never told her, sharing his lifestory, his fears, his dreams, all this he shared with Tenshi, and he made her promise. That whatever happened, if the change was permanent or not, she would go on living, she would not give up, she would prove the world wrong, and above all else, she would not be a monster.

Alone

After being released from hospital, Tenshi continued living with old man Hamato as she called him, and together they adjusted to her new body. The road was long and strenuous, but it strengthened the already near unbreakable bond between father and daughter. Time however was not on their side. Tenshi still suffered from moments of near unstoppable frenzy when her new bestial instincts threatened to take over. Hamato proved to be able to calm her down every time, but his health rapidly declined due to his advancing age and one fateful morning Tenshi found her father in his bed, his heart having failed in his sleep. Tenshi was alone. She moved out of her parents home and declined to see all assets her father had left her in favor of first finding peace with herself and the world. It was in during this time she first began working as a vigilante of sorts, taking out her anger and grief on the gangs of Westside.

Qularr Crisis

The life of Tenshi and in essence most of Millennium City's residents would be turned into a nightmare when the Qularr invaded the city. As the shield domes went up around the city, Tenshi found herself trapped in a warzone, nothing she had ever faced had prepared her for this and for the first time there was nobody to curb her instincts. Her bestial side's blood sang with the carnage around her, and she gave in completely to her frenzy, tearing into the bug-like drones with reckless abandon. The Qularr defeat and subsequent months of rebuilding are a blur to Tenshi, she knows she took what remained of her belongings and moved to a loft in Downtown feeling that her old life had ended. And she also registered herself as a official freelance law enforcement mercenary. In the months that followed she made a name for herself as a dependable operative with a firm grasp of tactics, but with several quirks. For one, she would freeze up when touched in a non hostile manner, glaring at the person who did. Secondly she would only take solo missions, never working with support members, claiming they would slow her down. In truth she did this because she did not trust her control of her bestial side, fighting a constant mental struggle during combat to not let go of her restraint.

Re-inventing herself / The power of hugs

A new Tenshi Ryuko emerged from the fires of the Qularr Crisis and as the months turned into years she began trying to socialize again. She visited known Meta-Human hangouts and ended up in Club Caprice, where she quite literally bumped into a person that would change her life. As she went into the club she noticed a somewhat large crowd of Non-Human creatures, with a young blue furred fox with them. On a whim she approached this grouping and got into a conversation with one of the elder members. It was all a very nice, yet surreal experience for Tenshi, she was accepted into the group without question and completely blown away by the actions of the blue furred fox, this innocent child like creature simply, without asking, hugged the 'lizard lady' for being nice to the elder. In the following days Tenshi found out that the group she had joined for a talk was part of a larger organization calling itself the Cognatus, or Tribe. The leader of this Tribe asked Tenshi to join their ranks and still reeling from the unexpected welcome she had been given she accepted. What followed was a emotional roller-coaster of the good kind, Tenshi joined the Tribe on several missions, after finding out they too did mercenary work in the name of justice, she found friends, and above all else. She found a place where she felt at home again. In the time with the Cognatus, Tenshi also took a second look at her Father's holdings, contacting a law firm to find out exactly what assets Hamato had left her. She was surprised to find out that Hamato's legacy turned out to be a very profitable company dealing in antique furniture, Hamato having set up the firm in such a way that it was run day to day by capable staff, but that a percentage of the earnings flowed to a offshore account, a account that was now in Tenshi's name. The little Orphan Lizard, was now rich beyond her wildest dreams.

Finding a Brother

During her days in the Tribe she formed many friendships, but one stood out among them. She befriended a fellow changed human, the now foxlike Logan Justice, registered under the moniker of Beastman. The two would spend their time between missions and adventures in a Ren Cen park, hanging out, goofing off, and in the more serious moments talk about their lives past and present. From these talks a bond was formed and to Tenshi it felt like she had found the brother she never had. The goofy almost hug-addicted fox would cheer her up on the bad days, and calm her down on the ever worse ones, but the most important aspect for Tenshi was by far, the way he simply accepted her for what she was. Logan even played matchmaker when love found its way into her lizard heart for the first time in ages, making sure his 'Sis' could get uninterrupted time to talk with the guy that had caught her eye.

Finding Love / Darkest Hour

With the support of her brother Tenshi began dating again and found a new source of happiness in spending time with her boyfriend Tyler. As he was also a warrior in the Tribe and a changed human like herself they had many things in common, their relationship progressed rapidly but had its ups and downs. The major down point being a direct result of Tenshi's bad experiences with Mercy Hospital. After getting injured during a routine mission in the Vibora Bay area Tenshi stubbornly refused to check herself into Mercy for a checkup, thinking her bodies own regeneration would fix her wounds up like it always had done. To her dismay however, the trauma to her abdomen she received did not heal as it should have, but instead got worse and worse. Her friends and lover urged her to go and get it checked out and a now worried Tenshi tried to comply, but collapsed upon standing up from her seat. Tyler rushed her to the hospital but was not allowed to follow into the treatment area. Here the doctors found out that Tenshi's own regeneration cycle had hit a snag, the trauma to her abdomen causing her regeneration to form scar tissue over her still mammalian ovaries and reproductive organs. After several hours of treatment, the doctors even going to the lengths of bringing in a device to temporarily disable the Meta-Human abilities of the patient. End result of all this was a Tenshi that was again healthy, yet infertile. the shock of this sending her into a downward spiral of depression, that was only broken by unexpected arrival.

Finding Hope

In a ironic twist of fate, Tenshi's life would take a unexpected turn for the better so shortly after her darkest hour. As her boyfriend together with her Brother Logan where sitting in their favorite hangout, a portal between dimensions opened up and a little redheaded girl emerged. After the shock of this random occurrence the shock of finding out that this teenager knew all their names only added to the confusion. Tenshi found out about all this by a cryptic text message from her boyfriend, and returned to their shared home, only to be met by this strange girl, sitting in her home, unknown, yet looking like she belonged there. Ten was shocked, just like Logan and Tyler earlier that day, that the girl was in fact from a parallel universe, one in which Tenshi had gone to the hospital right away on that one fateful day in Vibora. The child's name was Hope Ryuko, daughter to Tenshi Ryuko and Tyler Redthorn. Tenshi knew right away that the words the child spoke where the truth, she was looking at a spitting image of herself at that age. She had found a daughter, and with it a new reason to live. She had found Hope again. However, not all was well in her life, her relationship with Tyler faltered as she spent more and more time connecting and re-connecting with her newfound daughter, and eventually they drifted apart, Tyler packing his belongings and leaving the loft they had shared for months.

Finding Love, again.

In the midst of her relationship troubles work still needed to be done, and Tenshi got hired by the Canadian Government to investigate a suspected alien ship that had crashed into the wilderness. Within this downed trading vessel she found a alien creature resembling a Fox Manimal, this creature, who's name translated strangely enough to something closely resembling Clarke Adams, would over the next few weeks and months cross paths with her time and time again. Spending time with her and offering support during the rough time she had with her boyfriend Tyler. It was a few weeks after Tyler left her that Clarke by accident misspoke and blurted out his love for Tenshi, the pieces of a puzzle now falling together for her. The way he seemed to enjoy spending time with her, the way he spoke fondly of a girl that had caught his eye, and his gratitude for her rescuing him from his crashed ship. It all became clear to her, he loved her. And she could not deny that he too had managed to carve a place into her heart. Not caring for dismissive talk of her finding someone too soon after Tyler left, she threw herself into the blossoming relationship with Clarke and after a while of dating the two ended up in a little chapel in Las Vegas, walking out in a happy daze as Mister and Misses Adams.

Current Life / a calling found.

During her career as first a vigilante, then a mercenary and finally as a Security Consultant, Tenshi has proven herself time and time again, she knew what she could and could not do. Her way of solving diverse problems and diplomatic way of speaking catching the eyes of many officials, earning her invites as a guest speaker at seminars and lectures on Meta-Human incidents and responses. She also was also regularly asked to be the 'aggressor' in simulations of Meta-Human crisis, meaning that she would be tasked with coming up with wargame scenarios that law enforcement officers would train against. After doing this alongside of her field work she, together with her Brother that had just like her juggled a career as a defense attorney with his field work, decided that they would expand the company Tenshi had inherited from her Father with a agency to help up and coming heroes and such. Ryuko Executive Solutions was born. Tenshi had found her calling, her life now stable, and she herself confident. She would make it her calling to help improve the world, she knew she was not strong enough to do it all on her own, so she would utilize everything she had at her disposal to do so. A stronger more determined Tenshi emerged, forging ahead into a unknown future.

Final Notes / Closing comments

This page is, as i said above, my first try at making an in depth background for one of my characters, Tenshi has grown from simple concept to a full fledged 'person' over the course of many months, and i felt like she deserved a longer description then the in-game info box could provide. That and the comments of a few friends was my reason to forge into new unknown territory and make this page. Thank you for reading.
