History

Origin

Adam Day was born into your average family, both his parents worked, but they always made sure one would be ready to care for him after school, from a young age he was really interested in Science, as he grew older his main focus was on quantum physics, he was incredibly intrigued about time and how it worked, ironically with his love of time he was always late to anything, school, dinner, dates. He never had a good excuse normally "If time is a concept how can I be late?".

One day when he was running late everything seemed to slow down around him for a few seconds. Stunned by this he thought he was going mad, then he ponder about it more throughout that day, and thought that he may have powers like the heroes he had always heard about on the news. Given that this was better than going crazy, he tried to learn what his power was more, he first thought he was a speedster like Kinetic but when he tried to run he soon realised he wasn't that. He then thought back to what happened, time slowed down around him. For that whole evening he tried to use his abilities just for a split second, it didn't work. The next week when he was running late to his new job as a physicist it happened again, but this time he could somewhat control it only how long it lasted, he still didn't know how it worked.

For the next few months late at night he'd leave his apartment and try to master the use of his abilities, and one day he eventually did, he realised he could travel miles in a matter of seconds, but he has always pushed himself to try harder and he wonder the limits of this abilities, like did he have to be running in order to use them or could he use them standing still, now that he knew how to activate these abilities he tried to activate them standing still, it worked for a split second again, he knew that he'd have to train to perfect this skill with them again. Adam has always tried to help anyone in whatever way he could. So he decided to use these abilities to help people he'd become Speedster "No wait that is a stupid name" The Quantum

Now as The Quantum he started helping people who had been mugged or stolen from just by finding the criminals and sending them to the police. But eventually he saw bigger uses for his powers and bigger threats started to arise that he could tackle with the help of custom made AI "Amelia"

Current Events

He currently has been The Quantum for roughly 2 years (16 months). One year ago he would've spent most of his time working and rushes off when their are mediocre threats that the police struggle to combat, he has a few personal rogues that he had taken down a few times. He locked them up and kept tabs on them, most of them have remained in their holding cells, however some of decided to break free when there was a short spike in security.

Equipment

The Quantum Suit, as he calls it, is a light armour made of a light Questionite mesh, for protection against knives, guns and other possible threats.

The suit consists of :

- The mask which comes in two parts, the eye mask, which act as goggles when he is running at high speeds, and cover his eyes to protect his identity, and the cowl, which has radio built in so that he can communicate with Amelia.

- The body suit which protects him from most common attacks. However most attacks from larger criminals, such as super villains or mob leaders will hurt him like it would a normal person, his suit only protects against knives and standard guns.

- The bracers, which he can access his files from and view them all on a holographic screen coming up from his right bracer, his belt also contains batteries for his bracers incase they die while in the field.

- The boots of his suit, can enhance his speed allowing him to travel distance faster when in Time Shift.

Skills

Combat

Adam has spent some time since becoming a hero learning kick boxing at Carl's Gym, so that he can fight better instead of throwing poor punches at high speed, he can now fight confidently.

Powers

Quantum only has one real power and that is his ability which he has called "Time Shift", although after the years of mastering this ability before becoming a hero he has learnt to do certain tricks with it:
- "Time Dash" This is the ability to use Time Shift to appear as if he is running like a speedster, this is his only way of travelling around Millennium City.
- "Future Sight" This is the ability to see a few moments ahead of time using Time Shift, although this is incredibly tiring and requires a lot of focus he will rarely use this ability, and only uses it when he believes he is outmatched and needs to come up with a tactic to avoid the next incoming attack.
- "Speed Recover" This is the ability to use Time Shift to heal by speeding up time in one part of his body, much like Future Sight, this is an incredibly tiring move so will only use it on serious injuries such as a broken bone that may stop him from moving or fighting, such as broken leg.

The Blackguards

The Blackguards are a collection of some of The Quantum's strongest rogues, made up of 4 super criminals, some metas some not. They are one of his toughest challenges, luckily the majority of them are locked up.

Tesla Torturer

Tesla Torturer AKA Michael Jones, isn't a meta-human, he was originally a member of the MCPD who had a burning hatred for all meta humans, the moment that the MCPD began to accept the help of the Quantum he went rogue. he created the tesla suit in an attempt to take down The Quantum and has come close to doing so many a time.

Tesla Torturer's skills are mostly derived from his training in the MCPD, however he did make his Tesla suit in order for him to be able to manipulate electricity in a desperate attempt to hurt The Quantum and slow down the speed at which he can use his powers.

Michael Jones can easily outmatch The Quantum in terms of combat skill and physical strength, however his one weakness is his hate for an meta-human, he is fuelled by an anger that is mostly directed towards The Quantum. The Quantum uses this hatred for him to his advantage allowing him to stop whatever reign of terror Michael is on.

One of their greatest battles to date is their fight on the roof of City Hall, this is the fight where The Quantum truly discovered how much better Tesla Torturer is compared to him, as he nearly lost his life if it weren't for the luck being on his side and the MCPD coming to help The Quantum.

Frost-Fire

Frost-Fire AKA Katherine Clark, is a meta-human. The first of the the two metas in the Blackguards. once a petty criminal who stole from local stores in westside, never deemed big enough to be stopped she started to develop powers after she was approached on the street by a dark figure. She went under painful experimentation and became known as Frost-Fire

Allies

Quantum is a relatively new hero so he hasn't had a large chance to work with many people, but over the past 14 months he has worked with some people who have made good allies to him:

Amelia

Amelia started out as a simple program that would organise Adam's files allowing him to access them quickly on his bracers, but as he continued to work on the program, he started to make her more advanced, he then realised he may need someone who can give him constant updates while he is in the field, this is when he came up with the idea of Amelia, she is very own AI who will tell Adam where crimes are occurring when he is on patrol around the city.

Team Quantum

"Team Quantum" is a group of Adam's friends who he has shared his secrets with, they all have accepted this secret and some of them have decided to help him so he wasn't working alone with just Amelia

MCPD

Over the past 2 years he has worked closely with the MCPD although they didn't trust him at the start of his hero career, they now will call him if it is something they believe require his skill set or he will contact them if he is outmatched
