They had never seen a human before. The result is not pretty. He eventually escaped his alien overlords and joined the Red Guard before finally being able to return to earth where he joined the Death Squad.

SOCRATES kept a file on unknown meta-humans that were not registered nor able to be easily classified as a 'hero' or 'villain'. Those without known names were designated with letters of the greek alphabet. A partially successful hack of the SOCRATES system was able to gain access to this file and it became part of a dubious information commodity on the black market. A particularly vicious vigilante known as Robert Daedalus, purchased this file believing it to be a list of new villains for him to hunt down and kill. When members of this list began to turn up dead, SOCRATES quickly determined what was happening and summoned the remaining members of the list to ask their help in tracking down and stopping Daedalus. Biography
The founder of the Shaolin monastery, Bodhidharma, actually founded 4 monasteries as he traveled across China to Shaolin. The first was established in the kingdom of Khotan in western China. Carved into the living rock of the hills above the Karakash river just south of the city. Bodhidharma only stayed for 2 years before being compelled to travel further east by a series of visions. He instilled the same principles of physical fitness in this monastery as he would later at Shaolin, the 18 Arhat hand, but they also followed the far more ascetic ways of the local Buddhists. For 500 years the monastery prospered till it was threatened by Muslim invaders. The martial skills of the monks made them formidable adversaries. Rather than face a prolonged conflict, the monks negotiated a treaty with the Muslims in which they would retreat further from the city proper, but one monk would have the right of free passage throughout the kingdom, unmolested. This deal did not extend to any other monks of any other sects, and so to identify themselves, the traveling monk would wear a leather mask with a special mark on the forehead.
The monks established a new monastery deeper into the mountains, impossible to reach without passing through a series of man made tunnels into the secluded grotto. The masked monks would make brief forays into the kingdom for supplies and occasionally treating the sick or wounded. For another 1000 years the monks prospered and refined their philosophies and techniques in almost perfect seclusion. The monks replenished their ranks by taking in abandoned children from the streets of the city.
One day, a masked monk wandered into the city looking for a very specific boy. This boy had been abandoned when he was 5 and had lived for 2 years on the streets, surviving through viciousness and determination. The only possession he had, besides his clothes, was a small brass buddha figurine. The bright bauble attracted thieves and bullies of every type, as well as simple religious persecution. People would try to tell him to sell it or bury it rather than fight over it everyday. He refused to give it up as it was the only thing his father had ever given him. The locals called it him Epi (Bad Habit) for always carrying it around. Fearing that he would be killed, a few concerned citizens had mentioned the boy to the masked monks and asked that they take him away before he died. The masked monk found the boy and convinced him to follow him back to the monastery. There the boy began to learn a new way of life but he had a tremendous rage inside him that only found release in martial arts. His boundless anger and determination made him fanatical in his discipline and training. In 10 years he was nearly the equal of any master in the temple. Finally his masters decided that there was only one place for him to go from there, the fabled temple of Yeng Tao. He made his way deeper into the high mountains, using meditation and exercises to guide him. He was met by an ancient guardian who had sensed his coming. The guardian asked him why he had come, and he replied that he had heard of a technique to make the skin as hard as brass, the body as immovable as a mountain. The ancient guardian nodded at this and led him to the temple. For the next five years he trained and sparred with everyone in the school, earning a new name Si Zhan (Death Struggle). Finally, after a session of meditation lasting 8 days, with his brass idol clutched in his hands, he finally achieved what he sought, the Form of Brass. He felt his body change, fueled by his inner turmoil, into unwavering metal. He had seen many miracles at the temple, but none quite like this. Having achieved his ultimate form, E Pi Si Zhan felt a sense of calm and peace spread over him like nothing he had felt before. He tested himself, not only was he now nearly invulnerable but he was also far stronger than any normal man. This was not a state he could maintain however, after some hours he began to feel pain and to experience tremors so that he released the form and returned to normal. Changing again was not an instant thing, it still required concentration and focus but he learned to manage it in a few minutes rather than the days it took the first time.
Not long after this he received tragic news, the monastery of the masked monks had been attacked, possibly wiped out. Si Zhan thanked his new masters and left Yeng Tao to return home. There it was as he feared, all the monks had been killed. Some had obviously been tortured for information. The masked monks had, over the centuries, accumulated a small treasure of sacred and supposedly magical artifacts. Most had been carefully hidden but Si Zhan saw that all of the reliquaries had been opened and plundered. His old fury returned, he would find who did this. Si Zhan collected all the other bodies and performed all of the necessary rites before burning them and the entire monastery. In the hand of his old master he had found a bit of torn clothing that bore a symbol. A stylized emerald, the symbol of a Triad. He also found the mask meant to be worn out in the world. He put it on and became the last masked monk. He followed the trail of the raiders all across china. In Yeng Tao he had not only focused on physical disciplines, he had also studied many languages that allowed him to pass unhindered. He learned that these raiders were a secretive society known as the 'Mo Qing Bang' (Dark Green Gang) that dealt in magical artifacts. Stealing them and selling them all over the world. He also learned that they had extraordinary resources and although they dealt in the ancient past, they used the miracles of the modern age to do it. Si Zhan became a raider himself, tracking down and destroying their waypoints and dens as he found them, his 'normal' martial arts being more than sufficient, he did not feel the need to transform unnecessarily.
He did not care about the various artifacts that had been stolen from the monastery, all he wanted were the sacred Sarira, the essences of the great monks of the order that had also been taken. Finally he tracked them down in Shanghai. There he met one of the Mo Qing Bang's extraordinary agents, Hei Wo Kou (Black Dwarf Pirate). Si Zhan had never seen anything like it. It had the shape of a man, but moved and sounded like a machine. At last he had met his match and used his power to transform into his brass form again. Hei Wo Kou was unprepared for this and fled, but not after delaying Si Zhan long enough for the Sarira to be loaded onto a ship bound for America. He learned from the gang members left behind that they were headed for clients in Millennium City, an organization known as DEMON. After arriving, the trail grew cold. Si Zhan was out of his element and had few resources of his own here. He decided to try to blend in and removed his mask to become An Si Zhan a local martial arts instructor, while he tracked down the final destination of the Sarira. In the mean time he became involved in a few adventures, often involving his students. He made no attempt to become a 'super hero' but gradually came to the attention of a few authorities and was added to SOCRATES's 'unknown' database with the designation, Epsilon.

James Harmon III was well on his way to making Harmon Industries a major defense contractor when his wife was tragically killed in a car crash. He fell into an alcohol fueled malaise that saw his company flounder. Just as James Harmon IV was coming of age, he concieved of rejuvenating both the image and status of his family's company by creating a suit of armor and doing good deeds in their name. He would then market derivatives of this technology to revitalize their finances. However, Harmon Industries had been left open to a hostile take-over bid and ARGENT made the most of it. When the dust settled though, they found out that all the major patents and designs had been licensed from a private firm owned solely by the Harmons, Harmon Labs. Legaly, Harmon Labs was under contract to Harmon Industries, but with James Harmon IV now in charge, ARGENT was no closer to obtaining their valuable technology. Finally ARGENT attempted to simply take the data by force but were stopped by an individual wearing an advanced suit of power armor who introduced himself as 'Vindicator'. Vindicator is officially chief of security for Harmon Labs.

Viper cells reorganize themselves into a private security agency known as
Ophidian Inc. In 1996, Viper destroys Eurostar and expands it's influence throughout Europe. Communities and eventually even whole countries around the world turn to
Viper to provide security against super human threats when local governments fail.
Viper continues to broker their position into a world wide presence and are eventually able to depose the few resisting governments and assert absolute control over the world with the promise of security.

Eric is the leader of a special unit of that deals with extra-dimensional incursions and specifically with watching for signs of encroachment by the V'hanian empire. His armor is a third generation revision designed by Branon Quint.

Quenton Bryant is a descendant of a long line of inventors, scientists and heroes. Quenton joined the fight under the Aurum Inc. banner and fought bravely in an extremely advanced suit of armor, supported by his own android troopers. In the final battle for Earth, Quenton was severely injured and the battle was lost. His androids had been programmed with an imperative to save him at any cost, and so retrieved his badly damaged body and adapted their own robotic and armor technology to revive him. He has since lead a relatively successful resistance to imperial forces.

Preston Bryant is the son of Quenton Bryant. In the dark days before the fall of Earth, Earth's people began to resort to all sorts of desperate measures. Quenton and his wife Carmen, decided to volunteer their unborn child for experiments to produce new super humans through application of cosmogenic energies. Carmen died in child birth and Earth fell before it was determined just exactly what had been accomplished in their son's birth. With Carmen dead and Quenton presumed dead, Preston was placed in an ultra secret rearing facility, staffed mostly by androids. The first five years of his life Preston was indoctrinated with heroic ideals of a world at war. Finally Quenton, now recovred from his own procedures, found his son and took him to his own secret base. It became clear that the experiments had indeed bestowed super human abilities to Preston. He has faster, stronger and more durable than any normal human. Quenton kept him sheltered and tried to undo the indoctrination with only moderate success. Preston's abilities made him arrogant and bull headed. At age 15 he could no longer be contained and insisted in joining in the fighting. He could now fly, project beams of energy from his eyes and was nearly invulnerable. Quenton fears he will quickly lose control of Preston, and then lose him entirely. Being a teenager, Preston tends to change his codename on a weekly basis. This week it is "Uber Lad"

Darius was an assistant to Quenton Bryant in designing and building his original armored suit. He himself had little desire to engage in field activities. After Quenton was presumed lost, Darius retreated to a remote back up lab and began work on a new armored suit that would incorporate technologies pilfered from the V'hanian empire. His original plan was to find a resistance fighter worthy of carrying on the fight in the suit but later decided, to honor the memory of his friend and mentor, Darius would waer the suit himself. He has since been reunited with Quenton and has joined the new resistance.

Sometimes known as "the Last Lukovian". In this reality, the alien computer known as Zoar developed a serious fault shortly after beginning it's 4th program which rendered it's 2nd program inoperable. Zoar continued with a vastly limited version of the 4th program while it endeavored to fix itself. Being more or less "blind" to the probability matrix, this Zoar was taken completely by surprise when the V'hanian forces invaded Earth. With the activation of the 5th program, Zoar became aware of an emergency measure it could employ. Summoning one of it's creators. A single Lukovian had forgone true ascension and remained to maintain and service the vast Lukovian networks. When this being arrived, it was able to quickly repair the faulty computer and it's presence caused the 9th program to activate. This program called for Zoar to merge with a portion of the Lukovian's essence, to create a new entity that would directly oppose the V'hanian invasion and reboot the 2nd, 4th and 5th programs. The new entity which called itself "Zovax", has begun destroying all V'hanian forces on the planet. The V'hanians and Earthlings have taken to calling this entity, "the Obliterator".

E1812: United States of Canada
After the US declaration of war in 1812, the north-eastern states secede from the union and join the Canadian colonies. The remaining United States strengthen ties with France while the Canadian colonies strengthen ties with Britain. The war of 1812 stalls with this development, but is not ended. After the burning of Washington, the remaining states decide to move the capitol to Atlanta, and reorganize as the Confederate States of America. As the Napoleanic Wars intensify, French Canadians are persecuted and eventually driven to immigrate to the CSA. England and France achieve a cease fire in Europe, allowing Britain to send more troops to support Canada while France is still engaged with Russia and unable to support the Confederate States. Fighting continues both in North America and Europe. Britain is not a part of the third coalition against France and therefore Napolean is able to solidify his hold over most of Europe. With greater support from Britain and the loss of most northern states, Canada is able to make gains much further south. Finally reaching an agreement with the CSA and drawing a border at the 37th parallel from the corner of Virginia, to the pacific coast. At the same time the United States of Canada are founded.
In the modern age things are ultimately much the same as E1346. The USC aided Britain in war against France and in the Russian and German wars of independence to emerge as one of the dominant super powers of the world. Rivalry and conflicts with the CSA are frequent and intense, leading to strong patriotism on both sides. Many super heroes and even villains wear their patriotic colors proudly.

Bryan Quinn was a mild mannered comic book store proprietor, along with his brother. Both are brilliant tinkerers but lack the ambition and resources to become anything more. One day a super hero battle takes place outside their store and Roboking's hover tank crashes into it. The brothers manage to steal the tank and hide it before authorities are able to haul it away. They are able to decypher much of the advanced technology but can't decide what to do with it. However, after the disappearance of one of Canada's greatest heroes, the brothers decide it is their duty to help fill the void left by the tremendous loss. Together they build the U.C.O.N.(Unlimited Cryogenic Oscilation Neutralizer) armor system and reactivate the hover tank for support. Bryan is then officially sanctioned by the government as the hero designated "Yukon".

Caroline Munro is a theoretical physicist and the last person alive in North America. She has endeavored since the plague to build a device capable of opening wormholes through space to reach one of the offworld colonies. All inter-planetary ships were scuttled to avoid spreading the plague. She inadvertently builds a trans-dimensional gateway and begins to visit other Earths. For some bizarre reason, every Earth she visits is shortly thereafter afflicted by some great catastrophe that destroys it, forcing her to flee back to her own dimension. She has witnessed the destruction of 5 other Earths so far. She wears an advanced exo-suit during her travels that she does not remove for fear of spreading the plague inadvertently.

After the dissolution of the USSR in the early 1980's, Dr. Valentin Osândă, an ambitious and gifted super scientist, seized control of an area of Moldova and declared independence as the state of Transnistria. With the help of an advanced robotic army, Dr. Osândă declared himself monarch and successfully defended his crown for several decades. At the time of the plague, Osândă had just completed the take over of all of Moldova and was setting his sights on Romania. With the drastic loss of population, Dr. Osândă has begun a campaign to claim all uninhabited territory. Transnistria now covers most of Eastern Europe and western Russia and is populated by the droves of service droids and bots that had been left behind.

E2004: Paradigm Earth
On this Earth nearly all super-heroic activity is confined to a single megalopolis on the east coast of the United States that extends from Boston through Rhode Island and Delaware to Washington D.C. and is known as
New Paradigm City. Part of the reason for the heroic concentration being, that this city is under assault by what was at first thought to be aliens, but later discovered to be advanced humans from an alternate future. The city was initially invaded through a series of dimensional portals and the defenders raised massive energy walls called "Battle Barriers" to stall the vanguard and give this planet's super heroes time to arrive and keep them bottled up in the city. Some people and heroes here are similar to those in E1346, though nearly all have radically different origins.

The man that would eventually be know as Atomikos was born Prince Alexander I of Greece on August 1st 1893. Though lately descended from the royal families of Denmark, Germany and Russia, Alexander embraced his ancient Greek/Byzantine heritage and was a proponent of the Megali Idea, the unification of ethnically Greek territories now under the control of the Ottoman empire. As World War 1 began to take shape, it seemed the perfect opportunity for Greece to push for those territories. However, The Ottoman Empire allied itself with Germany when war broke out and the then King, George I who had close ties to Germany, refused to side against them even though he also supported war with the Ottomans. The political turmoil that ensued following this stance taken by the King led to his exile at the insistence of the Prime minister, Eleftherios Venizelos. Alexander’s older brother supported their father and also left for exile which left Alexander to be installed as king. After his ascension, he soon realized all political power now rested with the prime minister and he became little more then a figure head visiting troops to improve morale. But as the war came to a close his dream of Greek unity was much closer to reality as Greek territory was greatly expanded.
Unbeknownst to all, including himself, Alexander had been born a mutant. His strange biological nature showed no outward signs or indications until the fateful day in 1920. In September of 1920 he was bitten by a pet monkey that had contracted rabies and the virus caused a bizarre reaction from his mutated physiology. A scabrous foul-smelling lesion developed at the point of the bite and began to spread over his body. After three weeks Alexander lapsed into a coma and the growth continued to cover his body. At this point his wife and the Prime minister conspired to have him declared dead and his wife then secretly took him, now completely covered in a kind of cocoon, to the city of Alexandroupoli, which had been recently named after him on the new Greek frontier. Though his wife believed him to be alive in the cocoon she could not bear the stench it exuded nor could she take time away from her newly born daughter to look after what was left of Alexander. She had him placed in a vault under the villa she lived in and after a few years returned to the royal estate at Tatoi. Shortly after this Alexander’s father returned as King but abdicated again in 1922 in favor of the first prince George II. By 1924, with no word of a change in his condition, Alexander’s wife considered him dead and interred in Alexandroupoli and moved on with her life. That same year the monarchy was deposed and a republic declared in Greece.
In October 1928, all but forgotten, the villa that held Alexander caught fire and burned to the ground. The conflagration burned away the cocoon holding him and somehow revived him. Alexander emerged from the smoldering ruin 8 years after his “death” to a Greece in chaos. The physiological changes wrought by his hibernation were immediately apparent. He had remained virtually unscathed by a raging fire and had easily dug himself clear of tons of burning debris. He was now far stronger, much faster and considerably more durable than any normal human being. Alexander decided not to tell anyone who he was nor reveal what he was capable of. In December, as Alexander was still trying to find his place in the world, a surprise attack by Turkish invaders forced him to take action. As the Turks swarmed into the city Alexander, along with numerous others took refuge in the local civic building which also housed the Evros Museum. The Turks moved closer, brutally killing anyone in their way. As Alexander, still not wanting to reveal himself to the public, debated his next move, another man in the crowd grabbed a hoplite helmet from a display, put it on and walked out to face the advancing troops. The idea galvanized Alexander as he also grabbed a helmet to hide his identity, as well as a shield and sword and leapt to the defense of the building. Here he learned he was not the only person to have unique gifts. The two men, seemingly immune to harm, battled the Turks and then sent them running.
In the aftermath the other man introduced himself only as Cole, an American traveling after the First World War. He told Alexander of his plan to return home and to fight to protect the weak and innocent with the special abilities he possessed. This meeting inspired Alexander to do the same. In public he took the name of Alexandros Korizis and eventually rose to the position of Governor of Evros Prefecture. But when the situation called for it, he became Kaptain Kronos hero of the Greeks. Alexandroupoli and the Evros prefecture knew peace and prosperity under the protection of Kaptain Kronos. However, the rest of Greece suffered from political turmoil and even the return of his Brother King George II in 1935 failed to bring any resolution. Since Alexander could not deal directly with his brother without recognition, he allied himself with a close family friend of his Fathers’, Ioannis Metaxas who was eventually appointed prime minister in 1936. Politically, as Alexandros, and publicly as Kaptain Kronos, he supported Metaxas’ declaration of dictatorship as the best and shortest way to settle the unrest in the nation and begin the healing, and was a voice for moderation and compassion which led to the dictatorship being the mildest and most progressive in Europe. As war again approached in Europe, Alexander this time supported neutrality but when the Italians threatened to invade in 1940 he was given a special commission by Metaxas and was in the vanguard of the highly successful repulsion of the Italian invasion. For this he was Awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Redeemer the highest award in Greece.
In 1941 the Germans finally turned their eye to Greece since the Italians had failed to take it on their own. Shortly after the invasion began Ioannis Metaxas passed away and Alexander (as Alexandros) was named Prime Minister. Finally Alexander was in a position to lead all of Greece to a new period of prosperity once the Germans were dealt with. As the invasion began Kaptain Kronos again led very successful counterattacks and was then made a special priority target for the Storm Korps. Not having faced other super powered adversaries before, Kronos was beaten and taken prisoner and eventually given over for experimentation. Of course; on that day the Prime Minister also disappeared and Alexander was again declared “dead” but the entire government would soon fall to the German advance without Alexander there to lead them.
The Korps’ psionic torturers eventually learned everything about Alexander’s origin and powers and it was decided to test his regenerative abilities against exposure to atomic radiation, the debilitating effects of which were still hampering Germany’s atomic program. After the tortuous exposure to massive amounts of radiation Alexander again was encased in a cocoon and then monitored. Not knowing how long it might take for a metamorphosis to occur the Korps placed him in an observation cell on a small island in the Aegean where he remained until May of 1943. With the war turning against the Axis the Storm Korps special scientific unit was charged with quickly assembling whatever advanced weapons or projects they might have for deployment. The decision was made to not wait any longer on Alexander’s metamorphosis and to force his emergence or destroy him. Exposed to an atomically fueled heat source, this time Alexander burst from his hibernation empowered by a new transformation and laid waste to the entire installation with his own powerful atomic flame before falling unconscious into the sea. He drifted for almost 2 weeks before being spotted off the coast of Egypt by a patrol of Sand King members. His super powers being evident even in his unconscious state, he was taken to one of their bases where he was identified by a Storm Korps prisoner as Kaptain Kronos. Still weak, Alexander learned what had transpired after the German occupation of Greece and vowed to return to drive the Germans from his homeland. In the mean time he also learned that his brother King George was on his way, eager to meet the famed Greek hero for the first time. Alexander convinced 2 members of the Sand Kings to smuggle him out of Cairo and then join him in the resistance he would lead. Since his powers had now radically changed, Alexander decided to let the people believe that Kaptain Kronos was dead and took the name Atomikos which he loudly declared upon his arrival in Alexandoupolis. There Atomikos was joined by local partisans as he and the other 2 super powered Sand Kings drove the occupying Bulgarian and German forces out of Evros and then out of Thrace. There the German resitance stiffened as they took over the occupation of all Greece from the surrendering Italians.
During this time
Atomikos saw his beloved Greece become fractured and self destructive. While he and his allies held the East, the other various resistance movements began fighting among themselves even before the Germans and been defeated. Alexander was at a loss to decide which side to fight for and in the end decided to fight for none of them. They had all become murderous barbarians to him and it took little encouragement from his allies to leave Greece as it became obvious the Germans were close to withdrawing completely.
Atomikos and his friends joined up with the
Prime Hero Corps just prior to the D-day invasion. Here he once again met the man named Cole who had gone on to become the famous
Super American. Here he found a renewed sense of purpose and brotherhood with the fighting heroes.
Atomikos joined in the pursuit of the dwindling
Storm Korps to the bitter end in the black forest battle. There he suffered a seemingly fatal wound that again triggered his hibernation. The attending doctors and scientists were at a loss as to what was happening to him but they all agreed, he was still alive in his cocoon and needed to be cared for. He was evacuated to the United States and placed in a heroes veteran facility where he was watched and studied. Since no one was aware that another trauma was required to awaken
Atomikos, and the stench prevented him from being placed in an invalid ward, Alexander was again placed in a secure cell, and slowly and quietly forgotten again. After a decade or more, the small underground wing holding the sleeping
Atomikos was carelessly walled off, in an attempt to relieve an unidentified smell that had plagued the area for years. And there he spent the next 50 some years.
