Concerning Ifrits
Xaphan is a being from another dimension, called into this plane by the use of her real name.
She is deeply connected with the fire element, it is in her very nature and body. Called from a plane known only as 'The Other Place', Xaphan was summoned by a young mage in this day and age. His motivations remain unknown to this day; he had made a mistake in summoning her.
One of the runes marking the boundary of her summoning circle had a flaw, one the Ifrit Xaphan quickly took advantage of to escape the prospect of being controlled yet again. She killed the mage without hesitation, now all that remains of him is a charred corpse in his former home.
The beings from the plane known only as the 'other place' are not truly demons. They have simply been classed in similar terms due to the nature of their summoning. One only requires a beings true name and the knowledge of how to draw the proper summoning circles and you may call on said being. As such they are not inherently evil, however experiences have often tainted them to this world.
The Other Place
Xaphan only ever refers to her home as 'The Other Place'. Despite knowing it so well, she still prefers to use the name Mages of the past used to label her home, just as she does herself.
There is reason for this.
Her home, 'The Other Place' is as alien from our world as it is possible to get. Much of what we would consider normal, as truly innate to existence is not part of that reality, that dimension. As such Xaphan has to go through a great deal of change to become part of our reality, to exist here at all.
We perceive our reality in dimensions; up & down, left & right and forwards & backwards. Filled with energy and mass, all sitting within time. 'The Other Place' does not work this way; there is no up & down, no right or left, there are no physical dimensions there. There is no space.
Xaphan's home is a dimension of pure energy; confined to a single quantum singularity with innumerable energy levels and states. It is a place of pure thought and emotion; where mass does not have space to form and where the laws of physics are twisted and even broken, causing huge differences in related things like time.
Though time does exist in 'The Other Place' it is perceived much differently than it is here. What can pass as months, or even years in our world is perceived by a being such as Xaphan as only moments in her home realm. This time discrepancy makes Xaphan's age something hard to determine, even for herself.
Freedom
Killing the mage responsible for calling her here should have sent her home. However, she found herself trapped. The reason as of yet she does not know, she does however believe something must have been different about the way he had summoned her. Perhaps some spell holds her yet, perhaps she must complete some task to return to her home. She has yet to find out.
To this day, Xaphan finds herself spending her time in the human world. Meeting people and other beings know lingering in this plane; making it the proverbial nexus of places above even Babylon perhaps.
Xaphan chooses not to give out her real name. It would be a very dangerous thing for her, so she uses an alias. She will tell you whatever name suits her at the time, however she has grown fond of Kenna.
Her nature, her past
We are all the sum of our memories, our experiences.
As such, the Iffrit known as Xaphan is a fiery, angry being at times. She has suffered much at the hands of mages; growing to dislike and even stronger than that to loath their very existence. In actuality, she is calm and curious. She loves to learn, to find interesting things in this world. Often, more of a watcher than a doer.
She was first summoned in ancient Egypt, pressed into service as some weapon; a tool. They gave her name, gave her form and something to comply to. Perhaps, before they named her she did not even exist in the first place. This is the nature of a name for a being like Xaphan, it holds power over her; runs within her very essence. She will not tell you her real name by choice, not without complete trust which from her would be something hard to earn. Especially if you are human.
Her fiery nature makes her lean towards those heated emotions. Anger, hate and rage flow from her easily; burning those unlucky or foolish enough to be caught in the blaze. She does however also embody those warm emotions encompassing passion, love and warmth. Those things so easily crushed out of her by those that would seek to impose their will upon her, she has however never forgotten.
Throughout history, the Ifrit Xaphan and many of her kind were summoned and bound into service by mages and magic. She has suffered at the hands of many, more recently the power hungry mage Luther Black. Her real name is noted in a few ancient texts, briefly described in horrid detail are her abilities and weaknesses. Information to those mages that would pretend themselves her Master.

Fire is Power
Xaphan carries the nature and the strength of fire. She is fire, it is part of her.
As such, her body is made of elemental flame and energy. Wrapped in a black, sometimes oil-like skin the Ifrit is molten fire. Her blood has the consistency of liquid metal and the temperature to match. Her dark frame is capable of withstanding any temperature on Earth, she has an innate resistance to fire and heat. Though that resistance does not extend down in the other direction, she doesn't ever seem bothered by the cold. Snow, ice and the environment don't seem to phase the fiery being.
She is lithe, strong and agile. Capable of using unique abilities to control her element into ranged attacks. The vicious being is also found of creating sharp weapons upon her wrist, using her own heated blood no less. Though she has never been trained, her supernatural strength and agility make her a good melee fighter in a pinch. Xaphan does prefer to fight at a distance, using her grace and muscled legs to keep her distance and simply burn her foes into nothing more than ash.
Finding Serenity
Things have changed a great deal in recent months for the lone demon.
In the chance finding of a human; a young girl named Serenity Summers, the Ifrit Xaphan was thrust more into life and the world than she thought she was capable of. Only through a predictably fiery confrontation with Serenity and others, then masked as the super hero 'Headache', did the Ifrit even come to know her.
Despite this touchy troubled start, the two managed to become friends after Xaphan chose to show a much softer, warmer side of herself in order to simply warn Serenity of a potential danger. Through honest, often warm conversations the two began to trust each other and Xaphan found herself with a friend of all things.
What would fire want with a friend?
As it turns out rather a lot. Those warmer, caring emotions the demon chooses to ignore often simply to stay safer stirred and latched onto this one girl, her friend. Much time, joy and strife has passed since then.
The demon has come to trust Serenity with only secret she has. Serenity was trusted with her true name, given as a vulnerable gift to try to ensure Serenity's safety. Now the demon carries a great deal of love and devotion for her friend; felt keenly yet without the possessive bile often felt by humanity. Xaphan is perfectly happy with their relationship; with being Serenity's friend and so accepted even in her often fearsome differences, she wants little more than to feel accepted and valued-- those things we often so cherish but overlook are enough for the demon.
Through Serenity and through 'putting herself out there' so to speak, the demon has met friends of Serenity's and others. Xaphan now enjoys their company; more than Serenity now trusted with her true name to summon her if they are in need, trusted with her love and care.
Xaphan, perhaps true to her fiery nature, can be fiercely protective of the people she trusts and cares for. If any of them were to be threatened she would go to great lengths to ensure their safety, even when her own is put in jeopardy. She does however have promises to keep, something which seems to hold weight with her and something she intends never to fail.
Anger can sometimes get the better of good intentions.

Incredibly intelligent, works towards freeing herself which necessitates either forcing her release or simply killing the controlling mage. Do not underestimate her anger. Do not ever tell her your real name; she will use it against you. With the proper precautions, the being is a very effective agent of the wise mage. Capable of many tasks, her intelligence makes her suited to other roles even with her obvious ability as a weapon.
Being appears as a creature of flame encompassed by dark skin, it is almost oil-like. Chooses to arm herself with sharp vicious implements about her wrists; do not give her the opportunity to use them on you. Capable of melee combat as well as projecting an immense amount of heat and flame. Also, being appears capable of performing magic. Certainly magics connected to the fire element.
