The Origin

Youthful Days

Michael, born January 27, 1988, was an only child who lived with his parents, Jordan and Martha Renik. Both of his parents were highly accomplished in the field of mechanical and electrical engineering, with a special focus on power armor. So accomplished that they found themselves working with the Department of Defense on various weapon and equipment projects for the military. This type of employment caused Michael and his family to be moved around a lot. He and his parents were sent to various military bases across the country, depending on who needed help with what type of project. As a result, his parents decided that instead of making their son have to adjust to new schools every couple of months, they would just home school him. Needless to say, this would prove to be one of the most beneficial things to ever happen to Michael. While he was being homeschooled, his intelligence began to shine through. His parents, noticing the spark of brilliance in the boy, began advancing the difficulty of his homeschool courses until, by the time he was ten, Michael was learning at the level of a senior in high school. His parents taught him all the necessary information that the average student would know, and the began to focus in his learning on mechanics. They made sure that, by the time he was eleven, he already had a basic understanding of power armor, an understanding that would continue to evolve as he got older.

An Explosive Hobby

The moniter footage that busted Michael

Being an only child and homeschooled, Michael quickly found himself bored and lonely. As he grew up, he began to yearn for more things to do, other than to review with his parents the primariy points of a good gyro-scopic motor. This yearning caused Michael to enter a sort of rebellious phase when he was twelve. The rebellion primarily involved him sneaking around the military bases that his parents were stationed at, just to see what was going on. Through this sneaking, Michael stumbled upon what was soon to become a key feature of his life. He stumbled upon guns. More specifically, at a base located in Colorado, where his parents were testing a new high-altitude pressure suit, he gained acess to a firing range. It's never been confirmed how he got into the range, or how he was able to access the guns in the range, but what is known is that when a soldier checked the security moniter for the range, he saw some random twelve-year-old firing an M-16.

Michael's parents were furious at him for wandering around when they weren't at the base, but he, being rather mature for his age, argued back that they really couldn't have expected him to just watch TV all day. After a little deliberation between him and his parents, they agreed that he could walk around and explore the bases they were stationed at, as long as he didn't go into classified areas and stayed within sight of the soldiers. With his new-found freedom, Michael immediately went back to the range the next day. He had found that he really liked guns, and wanted to know more about them and how to be better at using them. This love only grew as he got older, and by the time he was sixteen he was an expert marksman. Over the years he had also devoted some of his studies to gunsmithing which, along with his formidable knowledge when it came to mechanics, allowed him to easily branch off and start prototyping designs for his own guns. At that point, though, they were nothing more than light fantasies. All this would change, however, on the morning of Feburary 2, 2006.

Attack of the Serpent

"If we can't get the suit, grab the next best thing. The ones who made it."--VIPER Strike Team Leader

At the beginning of 2006, his parents were re-assigned from developing an exo-skeleton for paralyzed soldiers to working on a fairly simple combat armor. This combat armor was a type of power armor being designed solely to defend the wearer. It would have no integrated weapons, only a lot of armor and shielding. The project had entered prototyping phase,a nd his parents were put in charge of the design team. He and his parents were moved to a facility in the Nevada Desert, where the armor was being built. By February 2nd, the armor prototype had been completed, and was ready for testing. That's when tragedy struck. VIPER attacked the facility to try and steal the armor. They had been keeping an eye on the project since its initial planning phases, and decided now was the best time to take the armor and all relevant data. However, the troops at the facility were able to keep the VIPER Strike Team from reaching where the armor was held. Unable to reach their original objective, the VIPER troops decided to grab the next best thing: the lead developers of the armor, Michael's parents.

Blasting their way to where all the civilian personnel of the facility were holed up, they demanded that Michael's parents surrender themselves, or the VIPER troops would begin firing on the civilians. Selflessly, his parents stepped forward, making sure to remove their identification tags that allowed them access to the armor. Michael begged his parents to not go, but even he realized that this was the only way to keep everyone else in the room alive. As his parents exited the room, two VIPER troops stayed behind. Thinking their safety was guaranteed, the rest of the civilians in the area began to relax. That's when VIPER opened fire. Everyone in the room panicked, and as people fell left a right, a horrified and angry Michael stood up. He maneuvered his way towards the two VIPER troops, and was able to blitz tackle one of them, who he then shot with the troopers own gun. Quickly turning around and dispatching the other trooper, Michael watched as all the remaining civilians left the room, before running to a secret part of the base, two keycards in his hand. He had an armor to get.

Dawn of Headshot

"Sir, something is following us."

"What is it?"

"It looks like-a single man!"--Communication intercepted from VIPER Strike Team

As Michael headed for where the armor was stored, one thought was on his mind. Getting his parents back. He ran past some confused looking soldiers, as he quickly entered in both keycards, and unlocked the armor storage unit. The soldiers, b now , realized that he was planning on taking the armor, and tried to run into the room to stop him. Luckily, at that point VIPER detonated some explosives to damage the hanger and garage of the base, so they couldn't be followed. The explosives damaged the circuitry of the base, and set all closed doors to lock. The soldiers thus could only watch as Michael put on the prototype armor. He walked up to the door, and said only one word through the intercoms to the soldiers on the other side: "Move." The soldiers backed far away from the door, as Michael launched a full-force armored punch, blowing the door open. He then sprinted down the hallway, and exited the base. Relying on what he knew of power armor, he activated the jet boots on the suit, and followed after VIPER.

He quickly caught up with the remains of the VIPER Strike Team, who were traveling across the desert in a stolen jeep along with his parents. The five VIPER troops were shocked when a lone figure in armor dropped out of the sky in front of them, but decided to just run the man down. Michael, instead of letting himself become roadkill, used his marksmanship skills, along with the targeting systems of the armor, to shoot out the tries of the jeep. The jeep began to swerve, until it drove itself into a large boulder alongside the road. The VIPER Strike Team, knowing an extraction Osprey was on its way, moved out of the wrecked jeep along with their hostages. However, Michael was not going to let them escape. He began to open fire on the VIPER troops, who took shelter behind the boulder. As Michael was steadily advancing on the boulder, two distinct blasts rang out from behind it, before all five of the VIPER troopers came around the side and started firing at him. Fearing the worst, Michael opened fire as well, wanting to end the scuffle quickly. The armor he was wearing performed incredibly well, allowing him protection and maneuverability unheard of in such form-fitting armor. The fight was short and quick, and at the end all five of the VIPER troops were dead. As he ran around the boulder, the sight that greeted him was what he had feared the most. Both of his parents were dead, VIPER having executed them when they realized they wouldn't be able to extract from their position.

The Snake-Hunters

"This kid just took out a trained VIPER squad with only some practice time at a gun range and while wearing an armor he never even trained in, and you wanna send him to jail? We should be giving the boy a god damn medal!"--Captain Holister

With both his parents dead, Michael didn't know what to do. He stayed by the bodies, thinking about what his next course of action should be, until he saw a convoy of soldiers approaching his location. They picked him up, and brought him and his parent's corpses back to the base. There he had to take off the armor, and was put under a sort of base arrest, till the military could decide how to handle his theft of military property and killing of the VIPER troops. At this point Michael, having just failed at being able to save his parents, figured his life was about to shoot into the ground. Then he met Captain Holister.

The Captain was sent to the base by, strangely enough, PRIMUS, to sort out the issue with Michael and his solution seemed incredibly unorthodox. The Captain sat down with Michael, and asked him whether he felt bad for killing those VIPER troops. Michael immediately responded with a no, stating that he believed those bastards got what they deserved. For some reason, this answer seemed to please the Captain, who later had Michael, and the prototype armor, moved to Millenium City. In the city, the Captain revealed that he wanted Michael to work for him. The Captain, it seems, held a grudge against VIPER and was assembling freelancers and regular soldiers to serve on a PRIMUS subdivision that would be dedicated to being a thorn in VIPER's side. Michael signed the necessary legal papers in a heartbeat, and was brought into the organization, nicknamed the Snake-Hunters. Michael was the youngest and least trained member of the Snake-Hunters, but also one of the few able to make his own weapons and armor, something he picked up while working at the range and studying under his parents. Over the next year, he continued training and even participated in active combat, refining his combat style. The Snake-Hunters were a great success, and became an ever-present threat to VIPER operations.

Home Base and Teleporter Madness

Such an inconspicuous house on the oustide, such a high-tech base on the inside

As he became more experienced in the field of combat, Michael was eventually bestowed the illustrious callsign of Headshot by his comrades, owing to the fact that when he was fired at an enemy group, it was a guaranteed kill. Headshot, however, wanted to do more in a battle than stand still and fire bullets from a gatling gun. His determination to be a threat to VIPER drove him to find a way to be an almost universal soldier. That way was revealed to him through teleporters. After weeks of brainstorming, he decided to try and link a home-made teleporter with his armor, to give him the ability to warp in guns and ammo when he needed them. First, he needed a place to build. Finding a house that was for sale was relatively simple. Finding a house that had the building space for a teleporter was not as easy. Eventually, he found a nice little building, located in the more suburban section of Millenium City. Once he had acquired the house, he began to work on turning it into a veritable fortress.

First, he converted the top two floors into empty space, and installed special defenses into those floors. The top-most floors contain anti-aircraft cannons and missile launchers, that can be deployed onto the roof for optimal firing arcs. The middle floor contains multiple anti-infantry weapons, and primarily are able to protrude from the windows of the complex, to ward off any ground assaults. If that wasn't enough, the bottom floor primarily serves as a hallway to the actual living section, located in the basement, of the house, and the entire floor is rigged with explosives, as a last-ditch defense to keep intruders out of the primary complex. While some viewed this as home defense taken to a ridiculous extreme, Headshot wanted to make his home able to last any sort of supervillian activity that might happen in the city, from a Destroid invasion to a kaiju attack.

Along with the three above-ground levels, his base lead to three separate underground levels. The first one was a basement that came with the house. He had fortified this basement, and turned it into the area where he slept, ate, and sometimes built his weapons. It was basically the house part of his fortress, and was where he hosted any guests. In the basement, there was also a special door, that lead to an elevator. This elevator traveled to the next level of his base, a large cave. This cave was formed out of the ruins of Detroit. Turns out most of Millenium City had been built over the destroyed Detroit, leaving open pockets from where buildings had collapsed. After he had discovered this cave while digging to make space for the teleporter, he decided to utilize it as an extra storage area, and a workshop for his larger projects. The cave has been modified since then to act as a storage facility for the Demolisher mech, as well as any spare parts for power armors. Also, he has linked the cave to multiple secret points in the city, mainly through the use of long-abandoned sewer areas and old tunnels, too allow him to deploy anywhere he needs to be in Millenium City.

The third level of his base is one that no other person has ever seen. How to get to it is top secret, and known only to Headshot. This third level houses the teleporter, and the reactor that powers his house. The third level is even deeper than the cave, well past the ruins of Detroit, and is heavily armored, so the reactor won't get damaged by the odd earthquake and such. The reactor used an advanced form of fusion, requiring only a minimum amount of Uranium-235 to keep it running. The teleporter was his greatest invention, able to warp his guns and armor to his location using a combination of satellite coverage and radio frequency.

From Headshot to Armory

After serving as a freelancer for four years, Headshot began to feel like he was in a rut. His eagerness for ruining VIPER's plans began to diminish, though his hate for them stayed strong. He felt like he needed a momentary change of pace, in order to re-focus himself. That was when he heard about Champions Respond and Protect (CRP). This was a radio frequency that serviced many heroes in Millennium City, allowing them to meet other heroic people and work together to combat the evils that seemed drawn to the area. Having never really thought of himself as a hero, considering his avid support for lethal force, he decided that this would be a nice change of pace from storming VIPER Nests under a hail of gunfire. After quickly designing a non-lethal bullet, he received the frequency for the channel, and began to try and be a hero. Surprisingly, he found that he enjoyed being a hero almost as much as he enjoyed freelancing. Overtime, he changed his freelancer call-sign to Armory, and adapted a combat style less focused on killing his opponents. Truly a new man, he now actively participates as a freelancer and a hero with incredible gusto!

About Armory

Personality

Despite his rough line of work, Headshot has tried to maintain a happy personality. He enjoys a good joke, and loves meeting new poeple (especially those who share his interests). No matter what race, species, or gender you are, Headshot will approach you with an open mind, one of his frim beliefs being "You can't judge a book by its cover." However, this doesn't make him reckless. He will still be catious when approaching overly evil looking entities, or those that seem generally foul and despicable. When it comes to his job, he generally doesn't feel much guilt over the people he has killed in battle. He has become desensitized to killing, and views it as something bound to happen on the battlefield. However, his time spent being a hero has started to chip away at this firm belief in lethal force.

Strengths

  • Mobility - The boosters on the legs and forearms of all his armors allow him to jet across the battlefield, giving him an almost unmatched maneuverability advantage in most combat engagements.
  • Marksman - Incredibly accurate with his weapons, especially while wearing any of his armors, seeing as they have loads of gadgets to assist with aiming (zoom cameras, scope links, etc.). He is easily an olympic level marksman, and never hesitates to take the kill shot on an opponent when it is applicable.
  • Genius - Highly intelligent, giving him an edge when it comes to formating battle strategies and when adapting in the middle of combat
  • Walking Armory - Has multiple weapons and ammo types at his disposal, making him a walking armory of destruction

Weaknesses

  • Only Human - Outside of the armor, he is a normal kid, and is vulnerable as such. However, one would have to catch him off gaurd quickly if they wanted to take advantage of his vulnerability, for with his special belt it is relativley easy for him to put on his power armor.
  • Magic - Barely understands magic, and has no defenses against it, other than hoping his armor or shields can block the attack.
  • Experience - While he has been in many combat situations, three years of active duty only allow for so many things to have been experienced. For some situations, he may have to go by pure instinct.

Equipment

Outfits

Over the almost two years of active service as a freelancer, Armory has take the original prototype armor and modified it to fit his personal needs, and has designed other outfits to fufill niche roles in combat.

The Original

R-M1~Can't beat the classics

This is his first and most commonly used armor, the R-M1. The Renik-Mark One, the now altered prototype he wore while trying to rescue his parents, has been modified visually while still retaining all the components that made the prototype armor an effective fighting machine. Medium armor, above average shields, this armor is the one most commonly associated with Headshot.

The Demolisher

Demolisher~For when you really need to wreck something

This towering powerhouse of munitions and might is Armory's largest and most powerful creation. The amount of carnage this thng can cause has forced UNTIL to prohibit its use to only the most extreme of occasions. It is, in effect, the only true weapon of mass destruction that Headshot owns. After using it, while it was still in its prototype stages, to battle an OSF Annihilator, it was reduced to a barely working robotic skeleton covered in scraps. He planed to rebuild it though, and to improve it using information gained from the battle. Now fully upgraded, the Demolisher Mk.2 is ready to defend against the inevitable OSF retaliation.

Weapons

With the development of his teleporter technology, Armory has the ability to bring to his hands any of the weapons in his armory that are preped for combat in the warp room. These weapons also all use the same feature of having their clips linked to his armory, so as long as he has bullets there, his guns will not run out of ammo.

Firearms

While he has multiple firearms in his personal bunker, he heavily favors the ones he's customized for his personal use.

  • Custom Designed Gatling Pistols - These pistols allow him to fill an area with lead, and he usually dual-wields them to maximize his potential for daka.
  • Security Shotgun - A reliable shotgun, he uses this for when he needs to stop hostiles at close range.
  • A-14 Eagle Rifle - The assault rifle is one he finds himself using in almost every engagement, being such a versitile combo of stoping power and accuracy.
  • "Boom Tube" Rocket Launcher - For all his anti-vehicle/extremely tough enemy needs, he turns to his custom designed rocket launcher, built to fire a variety of rockets.
  • "Shredder" Integrated-Barrels Gatling Gun - Designed to be more accurate than the standard minigun, thsi is for when he needs to put thousands of rounds into a target.
  • Anti-Material Rifle - An incerdibly high-powered sniper, he uses this to take out any hostiles that are too far away for conventional munitions.
  • Modified A-14 "Super Eagle" Assault Rifle - This assault rifle was midified by him to have an intregrated under-barrel gernade launcher, as well as to pack more power than his standard rifle.

Ammo

Since he favors frearms, he has found that having a bullet for every situation comes in rather handy

  • Full Metal Jacket - Average, ordinary, every-day ammunition.
  • Hollow Point - For shredding un-defended fleshy targets
  • Armor-Pericing - The standard for getting past those other pesky wearers of power armor
  • Incendiary - For burning fleshy targets
  • Cryo-gel - A capsule that contains a quick-freezing gel
  • Napalm - For when he absolutley, positivley, has to burn everything. NOW!
  • Acidic - Perfect for the odd robotic enemy, and sometimes for an armored hostile.
  • Explosive - High-yield exploding rounds for incredibly tough targets.
  • Piercing Rockets - Its a standard rocket, designed to slam into a target, penetrate, and then explode.
  • Thermoboric Rockets - Stupidly powerful rockets, for only the most durable targets.
  • Kinetic(Non-lethal) - A little bundle of pure force, wrapped up in a high-speed casing.

Other Gear

  • Hyperspace Belt - Given to him by his UNTIL comrade and friend, Skarius Snowtalon, this belt allows him to store any guns, weapons, armors, and clothes he may need. He combined the belt with his teleporter technology, to allow it to instantly reload his weapons as long as there is sufficient ammo for that weapon stored in the belt. He also found a way to use the belt to power whatever armor he has equiped, giving his suits ample energy for shielding and combat functions.
  • Home Base - A simple house he turned into a fortress, this building and its accompanying underground sections is Headshots residence and legally registered bomb shelter. If someone tries to attack him while he's at home, well, they are in for a world of hurt.

Tropes--Cause Why Not?

  • The Gunslinger-Is definatley a Type B at times, though this is usually when he is faced with a large group of enemies.
  • Superhero Packing Heat-Its his whole concept, basically. Though, sometimes he's packing more of a wildfire.
  • Badass Normal-Self-explanitory
  • Anti-Hero-Leans hevily towards a Type IV Anti-Hero
  • More Dakka-One of his solutions to tougher enemies. Happens alot when he uses his gatling guns. Speaking of gatling guns...
  • Gatling Good-...he has two gatling pistols and a modified gatling gun, so its an understatement that he likes the gatlings.
  • Gun Nut-Its obvious by now, right?
  • BFG-The "Titan Cannon"
  • Guns Akimbo-How he prefers to use his pistols.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills-He's assisted by technology, but some shots can still be pretty incredible.
  • I'm Not A Hero I'm...-...a soldier. His general attitude towards being viewed as a hero.
  • Military Superhero-He works in a military group devoted to fighting an evil terrorist organization.
  • Depleted Phlebotinum Shells-Some of his ammo types are pretty exotic.

RP Hooks

  • Works with PRIMUS, UNTIL, and various other military organizations as a freelancer.
  • Chills out every now and then at Club Caprice, or Sherrerra's Bar.
  • Often goes to the MCPD Special Armory to pick up weapons and parts.
  • Flies around Millenium City from time-to-time.
  • Is part of the Champions Respond-And-Protect Emergency Channel.
